Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Over the Hill

Hey Everyone,
Did you have a fun weekend?  I attended the company picnic where my husband works on Saturday.  I think the employees and their families all had a fun time.  Summer is a great time to party outside, right?

Unless it was last years picnic.  There was a monsoon that day. I kid you not. Words cannot describe what it was like to be huddled in a picnic pavilion with a hundred people and the rain blowing at us sideways.  I take that back, the words would be...Soaking Wet!  The wind showed no mercy and ripped off the table clothes that were taped down with Duct Tape!  Doesn't that stuff hold anything and everything together?  Napkins and plates were flying like confetti, children were crying, and the lighting made me fear for my life!  Needless to say everyone was reminiscing about it...a year later you can laugh.

Well, my card today is made with a sentiment from DRS Designs.  I immediately thought I would pair So Many Candles with this embossing folder for a great clean and simple Over the Hill type of card.  Perfect  for a guy. Even though I broke my rule about glitter on guy cards.  They are however candles that shine, and it's a birthday for goodness sake, so I'm making an exception.

Thanks for visiting!

Challenges this card is linked to are as follows:

Karin - I love this embossing folder! Haven't seen it yet.

So glad that you had better weather for the picnic this year. And, yes I've read The Help and LOVED it!! I actually listened to the audiobook & the readers were the best I've ever heard on an audiobook! I can't wait for the movie :)

Great card. I have this embossing folder and love it- I'll tell you my secret. I usually use just the bottom parts ( not the flames of the candles) for a fence or "wainscoting" on the bottom of my card. shh, don't tell! :) Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment!

Oh, Karin, I'm totally gonna have to "case" this card! It's just a perfect use of the embossing folder!
I'll miss working with you on I Love Digi, but I'm sure we'll run into each other again somewhere in the blogosphere! I'll be sure to pop back in and see what you're up to often!
Take care of you!
Hugs,
Dee

Last night I checked out your gallery at DRS and loved your cards, especially this one. I have not yet seen this embossing folder. Can you tell us what it is called and what company? I searched and searched last night and could not find it anywhere else but YOUR card! Thanks for sharing.
