Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Crafty Card

Hi Everyone,

How is your week going?  There is only one more day until Friday and you know what that means?  April Fools!  LOL  I haven't had a prank pulled on me in a long time, but maybe I will give some thought to pranking someone tomorrow.  No bright ideas so far, so it you know of something funny, definitely leave me a comment.  Anyway...

My card is totally unrelated to April or any fooling, but I was excited about one of the newest sets released by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff recently.  It's called Sew Much Fun:

It's a companion to the set Sew Pretty:

And it was just the push I needed to color up that cute tomato pin cushion image.  I have loved it for so long, because it looks just like the one I remember my mom having while I was growing up.  Do you recognize it?  I wonder if they still make them?  I just love the whole retro look!   Anyway, here is my card:

Since ruffled ribbons are all the rage, I tried to do that with the measuring tape and some glue dots.  Looks a bit wonky in the photo, so maybe sticky tape is the way to go.

Thanks for dropping by.  Lindsay always has some fun stuff (including freebies) on her blog and the LSS DT members are on my side bar.  Stop by and see their Lindsay's Stamp Stuff creations any day of the week.

Challenges for this card:
The Paper Variety-1-2-3 (1 image, 2 tape measure embellies, 3 buttons)
Paper Playtime-Digi anything goes
PaperCrafting Journey-For the lady in your life
Details not listed above-Stamps: PTI, Paper: The Paper Company, DCWV, Embossing Folder: Darice, Nesties, Copic, Ink: Stampin' Up, Metal Stickers:Making Memories, Punch: McGill, Ribbon and buttons from my supplies.

Heard You Caught A Bug

Hi Everyone,

It's time for another challenge over at the Hambo Hoedown! This time it's a color challenge of bright green and pink.

Here is my colorful card that uses the super cute and funny (Who am I kidding?  All the Hambo Stamps are super cute and funny!) Magnifying Glass(0901) and Caught a Bug(3105)

I love the look on that bug's face!

The layout is my own, and I added a little doily under a couple of the panels, just because they are so trendy right now, and the color combo seemed girlie to me :)  This is sure to cheer up anyone who has one of those nasty colds that's making the rounds right now.

I gotta give you the close up of one of my favorite things (Do I sound like Oprah? lol.)

Glossy Effects!

Thanks for popping by and be sure to link up your pink and green card made with Hambo Stamps over at the Hambo Hoedown.  We love to see what you make!

Easter Blooms

Hi Everyone,

I'm here today showing off one of my Easter cards made with my stamps from DRS Designs.  I love the bright colors; they look extra cheerful this time of year.  I used the beautiful Easter sentiment (Blooming Easter) along with the Spring Flower Suncatcher stamp and layered them both on top of the Swiss Dot embossed background, which always looks so dainty.

There was a small glitch in the making of this flower stamp, so if you want to order it from DRS Designs, make sure you inquire first.  I'm not sure if things have been ironed out yet or not, but they will let you know :)

Those two flowers were recycled off an old project, and they matched so well, I'm glad I hung on to them and was able to put them to good use here.

Here is the close up of the flower up on a pop dot and some Stickles, so that it would tie into the dimensional flowers above.

Thanks for visiting today, and I have another project over at the DRS Designs blog today, so stop by check that out.

Freddie had a rough day...

Hi Everyone!

I have to say that the "Freddie" images from I Brake for Digis have to be among my favorites from the shop.  This one is named Happy Hour Freddie and he looks like he wishes it was Friday instead of Monday today!

I added a stamped sentiment and pulled out my neglected brads for embellishments.  I think they help to keep the card more masculine, since this will eventually make it's way to a guy.

Still, I had to add a bit of sparkle to the flies and popped up the jar for added interest.

Thanks for dropping by on this Monday and don't forget to use the code SAVE10KARIN and save yourself 10% when shopping at I Brake For Digis.

Challenges for this card:
Fresh Brewed Designs-2 or More Embellies (Stickles and brads)

Music Saves My Soul Saturday

Hi Everyone,

I found time to load up a video so that I could play along with Music Saves My Soul Saturday over on Marcea's blog.

It's a quirky video and a song about love by Guster.  What's not to like about a song that references love, right?  Hope it makes you happy too.

Here to give you a lift...

Hi Everyone,

It's sale time at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff!  Just in time to get what you need for Easter, Mother's Day and anything else you are looking forward to celebrating!

Is it bike riding weather yet where you live? We've had a few nicer days recently (I was able to walk outside...yay!), but more snow is on the way, so we are not quite there yet...

My card today uses an image from the great set named Posh n Trendy.  I used one of the bikes and paired it with a sentiment from my stash, so that it would work for multiple occasions.  I have to confess, I'm all impressed with myself over the tiny flower I handmade and layered onto a Prima flower from my supplies.  Pretty good for a first try!

I know that I've showed off this set before, but here it is again.  I've used half the stamps for cards this year here on the blog...Can you tell it's a current favorite of mine from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff?  Right now
 it's 30% off as well!

Don't forget to visit Lindsay's blog and snag her freebie as well as check out the blogs of my team mates on my side bar.

Hope your day is fab :)

It's a Sketch Challenge at the Hambo Hoedown

Hi Everyone,

Are you ready to Hoedown?  Yes, it's time for another challenge at the Hambo Howdown Challenge blog and this week we have a sketch challenge for you.  If you played along last week, you received your free digi, but if you missed out, just use any Hambo stamp and play along.

Here is the sketch:

My card uses this super cute Lighting Bug stamp (1416) and since I used the sentiment You are one in a Buzzillion (1522), I decided to color him to match my papers. That definitely makes him unique and one of a kind :)

To make the wings stand up, I cut a slit on either side of his neck and inserted a second pair that I colored and cut out.  I love the bit of dimension it gives the card.

Thanks for dropping by, and be sure to stop by the Hambo Hoedown to see what the other "Bacon Bits" have made to inspire you.

And, my friendly reminder...Don't forget about our blog hop happening on April 1st!  Don't be fooled, it's going to be fun!

Challenges for this card:
Wee Memories-Cute and Cuddly (this is for the cute category)
Craft Your Passion-Show Your Appreciation
House of Gilli-Pastels and Bling
Make it Monday-Anything Goes
Lets Ink it Up-Diecuts and Punches
Delicious Doodles-Dimentional

Bingo and a Button Bag

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs is the sponsor at the Forever Friends Blog for next two weeks, and  my card is in support of their color challenge.  If you play along, you could win a $10.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store.

Just choose 3 colors vertically, horizontally or diagonally to use on your card. Just like playing Bingo.  Here is the color grid:

I chose to use the red, white and blue from along the top.  Since these colors remind me of summer here in America, I chose to use the Happiness Butterfly Greeting and embellish it with some die cut butterflies and embossed background.  Butterflies always make me think of warm summer days...

Here is a closer look at the verse:

DRS Designs is also selling cute little canvas bags that can be used for a anything your imagination can invent.  Since it's my day to post at the DRS Designs blog, I'm showing off one of my decorated bags over there.  Here is a little peek...

I hope you stop by DRS Designs to see what I have made :)

Have a great day!

Congratulations!

Hi Everyone,

I'm really skipping ahead with the card I made to show you today.  It's the card I made for my niece who is graduating from high school in June :)  I chose to use this cute Grad School digi from the I Brake for Digis store...Aren't those fish the sweetest?

I colored the fish with my Copic markers and cut out the image with my Spellbinders die.  I also added a couple of extra fish on pop dots to the lower left corner for some dimension.  The blue embossed circles were meant to simulate bubbles in the water and the sentiment was stamped.

Thanks for dropping by today and remember to use the code SAVE10KARIN when shopping at the
I Brake for Digis store and you will save 10% off your order each and every time.

Challenges for this card-

Digi Doodle-Anything Goes
Paper Play-Embossing
Stamping Vacation-Nestablilities

Life is Uncertain...

Hi Everyone,

Happy St. Patty's Day...or March Madness, or whatever you are celebrating today!  I don't have a St. Patty's card, I showed them all off in days past, and I refuse to make a basketball card, since I will have enough of that sport on the TV for the next couple of weeks..lol.  In any case, there is a St. Patrick's Day Sale going on, so that is a win for sure!

I do have food related card for you today (Food, now we're talking about one of my favorite things!)...I used the pie image from the set Sweet Treats 2 from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  I thought it complimented the kitchen like paper, and this is one of my favorite sentiments from my supplies.

All it need was a bit of bling and some ribbon from my stash.  I actually sent this off to someone for their birthday this week, but I'm unsure of how quick it will get there, so I don't want to say who it was for :)

Here is a peek at all the goodies jam packed into this set which are 40% off!

Thanks for dropping by.  Be sure to stop by Lindsay's Blog for her freebie, and stop by my teammates blogs any day of the week.  We now have Lindsay's Stamp Stuff inspiration for you all week long!

Have a great day!

Sparkle and Celebrate

Hi Everyone,

We have another great challenge going on over at the Hambo Hoedown Blog.  This week the theme is Sparkle and Celebrate.  If you didn't play along last week, and get your freebie digi image, use any Hambo Stamp like I did, and join in the fun!

I couldn't help but ink up this cutie pie Worm Balloon stamp one more time.  I colored him with my Copics to match my papers and added Stickles to his balloon (and also on the balloons on the patterned paper) to match the sparkle theme of the challenge.  The three gems...

along with the gold ribbon were in keeping with the sparkle theme as well.

I hope that you can join us for the Sparkle and Celebrate challenge going on this week at the Hambo Hoedown.

Oh, and did you remember to mark your calender for April 1st?  The big Hambo Stamps April Fools Day Blog Hop is happening that day, and there will be some fun and funny stuff taking place, so you don't want to miss the fun!

Have a great day :)

Happy Birthday Dad

Hi Everyone,
Next week is my Dad's birthday and he is a huge, ginormous golfing fan.  He didn't start playing until he retired, but it's his favorite activity now.  After the long winter he's just itching to get started.  So, in honor of his hobby, I grabbed this Silhouette Male Golfer stamp from DRS Designs for his birthday card.

I did the emboss resist technique on an old book page to highlight this cool stamp.  The background was made using the Woven Plaid (love this stamp for a guy card) and I used the Easy Grass stamp along the bottom of the card.

I just cut the jagged grass myself and kind of crinkled it for some texture.  I guess this golfer isn't so good, because this looks more like he's in the rough than on the green...lol.  I finished it off with the Happy Birthday Arc for the sentiment and rounded the corners to match the all the other curves on the card.

Thanks for stopping by and it's my day at the DRS Designs blog.  Here's a peek at my simple St. Patty's Day card that's being featured over there!

Rugged Cross

Hi Everyone and Happy Monday,

This digital image from I Brake for Digis named Rugged Cross, gave me the opportunity to make a more religious type card, rather than the general spring like ones that I have been making.  I know my mother in law will appreciate this when it arrives in her mailbox.

The digi was so easy to color, and I added some matching flowers and a sentiment stamped from my stash.  I admit to fiddling with it, and it shows up wonky in the picture, but I will fix that before I send it off :)

Be sure to visit the I Brake for Digis store and see the spring time digis available.  Don't forget to use the code SAVE10KARIN for 10% off your purchase each and every time!

Music Saves My Soul Saturday

Hi Everyone,

I missed last weeks linky party, but I was too pooped to even blog this little bit.  And linking and visiting other blogs is supposed to be fun, so I decided not to stress out and just opted out from playing along at Marcea's Blog.  Glad to be back this week with my pick :)

On Tuesday I bought the new R.E.M cd, so my song is from that.  AND there's a traditional video for it of a guy doing a funky little dance along the street.  If you like REM you will like the song.  Just typically them.

Have a great weekend and if you want to see what others are listening too, visit Marcea here.

Thinkin' of You

Hi Everyone,

I was in a vintage-y mood this week...I was finishing up reading Emma by Jane Austen.  This is our book club pick for this month, and the meeting is tonight.  I'm looking forward to it, since this is one of the best reads for me in a while.  Last year there was a great mini series version on Masterpiece Classic and it's so worth the time if you love the book.  Ahhh, romance.  Sigh.  (Tonight we also vote on our next 4 book picks...woo-hoo!)

Anyway, here is a general card that I made using some digital paper from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  What?  You've never tried digital paper?  Well, today is you lucky day.  THIS beautiful Vintage Sheet Music Paper is F-R-E-E!  No lie.

It made the perfect back drop for my vintage parlor chair that was a rub on from the dollar bin at Michael's.  I just love the crisp black and white look.

What are you waiting for?  Check out these papers at Lindsay's Shop (They go so well with the Steampunk Set or the Posh n Trendy set, both of which are a couple of my current faves from the store.)

Don't forget to visit Lindsay's Blog (always more freebies there!) and the rest of the DT have projects this week as well :)

Thanks for visiting today!

One in a Buzzillion

Hi Everyone!

It's time for another challenge at the Hambo Hoedown.  While I didn't use the digi that participants receive for playing along each week, I did choose some of my rubber stamps to play along.  Why not join in the fun?  The theme this week is LOTS OF GOLD.

I used this charming Tiny Bee (#3114),  stamped a bunch of times to make this card.  Isn't it just the sweetest little thing?  I singled one out to color, so that it would coordinate with the sentiment. (Buzzillion #1522)

And of course I have to show you the Stickles and gold gel pen I used on him to make him stand out!

I hope you have the chance to play along at the Hambo Hoedown this week.  Who knows,  you may even win a chance to be a Guest Designer!

One more thing before you go, mark your calender for our April Fools Blog Hop.  When is that? On April 1st of course!  We will be bringing you lots of smiles and laughter, along with a prize for a random hopper, so you won't want to miss this!

Thanks for visiting!

Bright Easter Bunny

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs is the sponsor this week over at The Drunken Stampers Challenge.  Play along this week and you will have a chance at winning a $10.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store.

The challenge is a wild color combo of Purple, Teal & Orange!

I had to put on my thinking cap for this one, but once I grabbed some of my DRS Designs stamps, I got going pretty quick.  I used the Interlocking Flower Background stamp and stamped in teal, colored the small flowers orange and made the centers of all the flowers purple.  I knew the Big Bunny face would be easy to use and gave him an orange bow tie and the Happy Easter was stamped to match.  I finished it off with a big wide ribbon tied in a bow.

After taking the above picture, I noticed I didn't color in that one itty bitty flower below the bunny, so I fixed that in the picture below.  All better. :)

For more inspiration for this color combo, visit my other card at the DRS Designs blog and link up your card over at the Drunken Stampers for your chance to win!

Have a great day!

Chocolate Chips

Hi Everyone,

My yummy little card today has an image that comes via I Brake For Digis.  I was so happy to receive this little cookie, because I had the perfect sentiment in my supplies to compliment it.
What friend would want to receive a sweet treat like this in the mail?  And, the best part...No calories! LOL.

The chocolate chips are also a stamp the I cut out and covered with Glossy effects and then used like embellishments.

Worm Wishes

Hi Everyone,

There was a fun challenge posted at Splitcoast Stampers yesterday, so I thought I would play along.  The challenge was to use polka dots...Do you think I used enough? lol.

This darling little worm (Worm Balloon #2510) and matching sentiment (Worm Wishes #2501) are new stamps that I received from Hambo Stamps and I couldn't wait to ink them up.  I decided he would be perfect for this card, because I could even dot up the balloon using my colorless blender pen.  The messy stitching was done using my sew quick.  Another fun card for my birthday stash!

Thanks for dropping in today.  TGIF...Do you have any big plans for the weekend?  I will be seeing my best friend tonight, so that is always something to be happy about!

Go For the Icing

Hi Everyone,

Last week I mentioned that I worked on my stash of birthday cards, well here is another one from that time I spent crafting.  I used an image of this yummy cake from the set Sweet Stuff from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  This time I chose to size the image small and use it as an embellishment. That's one of the best things about digital images in my opinion.

I had this sentiment that I haven't used in a while and I thought the two were a good match.  I just went ahead and took my color inspiration from my K & Company Paper that I used as a base for my card.

Here is a look at the entire set.

Are you interested in winning a set of Pro Markers?  I don't have any myself, so I entered the give away that Lindsay is having on her blog.  Just stop by this post to enter yourself.
Also, visit her today to grab your freebie that she always so generously provides.

Mane Man

Hi Everyone,

It's time for another challenge at the Hambo Hoedown!  If you played along last week, you were entitled to receive this Lion digi for free, but if you didn't, it is available for purchase at Hambo Stamps. However, you are welcome to play along using any Hambo Stamp.

The challenge this week is to make a masculine card and use stripes.

Was I successful?  I think so, even though I felt like I should limit my embellishments since this was for the dudes...You know I love me a little sparkle....Still...

I was able to add Glossy Effects on the shades :)

Here is the Clean and Simple sketch that inspired my layout.

Make sure you drop by the Hambo Hoedown to see some exciting info that is being announced today...You don't want to be the last to know!!

Thanks for visiting the blog and I hope you can join us at the Hambo Hoedown this week!

Easter Card

Good Morning Everyone & Happy March,

We had a crazy amount of rain yesterday, and lots of flooding in our area, so I'm showing off a colorful Easter card to lift my spirits.  This verse (Blooming Easter Greeting) is one of the newest stamps released by DRS Designs.  I attempted to jump on the scallop trend bandwagon before it's gone and we are on to something else.  I don't have a true scallop border punch, but I thought this one could work in achieving that type of  effect.

When my friend Diane used these butterflies on a card recently I was reminded  that I have barely used this pretty die myself, so on my spring card they went today.  The purple rhinestones were an RAK from her as well, and I'm so happy they found a home on my card today. Thanks again Diane!

That is going to have to be all from me today, but you know the drill...It's my day at DRS Designs, have a look at my St. Patty's Day card over on the blog!

Thanks and have a great day!
