Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hi Everyone,

I'm excited to be hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the first time in a long while, and I've been trying out all kinds of card designs for my invitations.  For this one, I inked up the new Filigree Pumpkin stamp and embossed it with brown iridescent embossing powder.  I then used my sponges and ink to add some color and fussy cut it out.  I decided I like the design on the pumpkin so much, that I used it to create the patterned paper for the background. It's behind the strip of embossed leaves, ribbon and the Happy Thanksgiving Greeting.

I tried to mimic the the colors on the pumpkin by adding them on to the greeting, sponging yellow ink in the center and orange around the edge.

Here is a close up of the embossing on the pumpkin and the the matching background paper.

All of these stamps and more can be found at DRS Designs...Just click here!

Happy Valentine's Day with a little Easter thrown your way...

Hi Everyone,

Happy Valentine's Day crafty friends!  I hope by now you've made all the valentines that you need, but if not, I suggest you get inky in a hurry :)  Technically you have until midnight...lol!  Since I finished all of mine, I'm jumping a bit ahead with my card share today.

I did a mass production of my Easter invitation for dinner this year.  It's all the same people that come each year, but my little invite has become a tradition.

I began by creating my patterned paper, using the Easy Dot Background stamp using green, pink and lavender ink.  I used an embossing folder for the other half of my background, choosing colors that matched the ink.  I then stamped the Cute Bunny with Egg, also coloring them to match, using Copic markers, and fussy cut them, layering them onto some punched circles.  I was able to go through my paper scraps and use up lots of little pieces for this project.

I get easily bored, so simply mixing up the papers, center ribbon, and the design of the egg was enough to keep me interested in finishing them in one sitting :)

I chose the One Line Happy Easter Greeting which I punched and layered to finish it off.

Here's shot of most of them. Nothing says spring time like pastels!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Amber Ink Holiday Hop

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm thrilled to participate in a blog hop for the Amber Ink Torch Bearers past and present.  Who are the TB's? (Wow, that sounds like a disease instead of the honor that it is...lol!)  They are the creatively named Design Team members for Amber Ink, and since I was the inaugural purple Torch Bearer, I'm privileged to be able to participate.  Amber Ink is a craft mafia of the best sort...family for life!

You should have arrived from Shannan's blog, but if you didn't, you will want to begin and end at the Amber Inklings blog.  That's the place to start and get all the details...Rumor has it there will be prizes :)
Now our theme for the hop is a 7 course dinner for 2.  We can only use 2 colors on our card (not counting neutrals) and 7 other things...

Here is the invite I made for my Holiday Shindig this year.  I used the super fab Hostess with the Mostess set.

My 2 colors are blue and brown.
My 7 things are:
1 piece of patterned paper, 1 ribbon, 1 snowflake embelli, 3 different foods, and 1 sentiment.

You don't always have to color everything when it comes to an outline stamp...A little color in the right spot can be the wow factor.  Especially when making multiple invites ;)

See?

Gosh I love this girl!  Speaking of lovin' the girlz, your next stop on the hop is Melissa. Make sure you stop and see what she has cooked up for you.

Don't forget to add a dash of love here and there along the way...Remember there are prizes being given out!  Where?  On which blog? You never know!

In case you are totally lost, here is the entire list ;)
