Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Pho and Card #2

Hi there!

Happy weekend! Once again, no giant plans for me this weekend, unless you consider going out for some Pho exciting. Have you ever had Pho? It's a Vietnamese beef noodle soup that comes with Thai basil, bean sprouts, hot peppers, and lime that you add to the soup to your liking. It is heaven in a bowl. It's kinda like Indian food for me, at some point if it's been awhile since I've eaten it, I start to crave it!

You can read about Pho here, or not, and just look at my second Ann Taintor inspired card...
You can check out the previous post for my first card that I made for the Moxie Fab challenge.

I'm so amused by these, I don't think I've ever made "wacky" cards before! Fun!

Part two of my post... The Moxie Fab World Blog has an Anne Taintor inspired card challenge at the moment. You can go here if you want to know everything there is to know about her, but basically the cards, and other bits of kitsch have these vintage images and witty phrases on them.

I love these items and think some are so funny and inspired, but I didn't even think of participating until I saw this card, by my Lindsay's Stamp Stuff team mate Kristen. Isn't it cute??? So, if she could make one, so could I.

Well, not only did I make this one... I made two more! You'll have to check back in the coming days to see those...All the images came from the public domain stuff on the Internet and I made up the funnies and printed them out. I think I'm addicted...Somebody stop me!

Hope you have day that contains some laughs!

Sweet Treat

Good Morning!

Today I have a new card for the My Grafico sketch challenge. We would love for you to play along and link up your card to win the set we are playing with this week. It's the Love Grows Here set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff! I had these darling papers with embossed cherries in my stash of stuff, so I knew right away I would choose this cute cupcake stamp with the heart shaped cherry on top! I did a paper piecing technique on the image and used a marker to color in the heart shaped sprinkles. You can see the oval is up on some pop dots in the next photo.

It wouldn't be complete without some sugary frosting!

Thanks for stopping by and if you want to play and need some more inspiration, visit the challenge blog here, or check out the individual team blogs listed on my side bar...Happy Stamping!

Another PTI Blog Hop

Good Evening!

I decided at the last minute to join the PTI blog hop. It is always fun to see what all the fans have created with their stamps! The theme this hop is decorating everything that has to do with your card...I chose to use my new Through the Trees set. I still had it out from using it this weekend ;)

I love these colors together and the little birds look like cardinals...

Another shot of the card and envelope...

Isn't this set of stamps perfect for this time of year???!

The inside...

This set came with the little tree, which I thought would be perfect for the back of my card and the other stamp is from my stash of stuff. Not only do all the stamps coordinate, but using this limited color palette also ties it together.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Hopping!

Prince Charming

Good Morning!

Today I have a Valentine's Day Card that I will be sending my niece at OSU. I know that she will find it funny, I would have at that stage of my life. The image comes from the Pretty Princess set from Linday's Stamp Stuff at My Grafico and the sentiment is something I made and printed out myself.
Here is a closer look at the sentiment and the rhinestones in the crown of the frog prince. The lip prints are from a traditional stamp from my stash. This is just one of the many digital stamp sets that are available in Lindsay's store...She has something for all occasions, as well as some new Houndstooth papers and SVG files. Pop over and check them out and peek in at Lindsay and the rest of the team for more ideas!

P.S. There is also a new challenge blog starting, I Love Digi Challenge so this is linked there for the DT call.

Masculine Birthday

Hi Everyone!

It's Saturday! I don't have any big plans, but I'm still looking forward to spending time with my husband. We may also get together with friends to watch the football games on Sunday.

Enough boring non card talk...This is a card I sent to my cousin for his birthday this week. He is a he, so there was the whole guy card thing to contend with, but he is a wine lover/collector, so at least I knew I was using my one and only wine related stamp. That narrowed it down. I tried to keep things symmetrical and unfussy, so this is the result. This picture shows the image and sentiment up on their pop dots.

I did decorate the inside with some patterned paper and the Happy Birthday sentiment, but as I am typing this, I realized I forgot to take a picture of it and of course it has been sent off. Oh well. Next time.

Until then...Thanks for dropping in!

My Resolution

Hi Everyone!

It's almost the weekend! Yahoo!

I haven't been posting my Christmas cards that I've been making this year, because thought everyone must be sick of them. Let's face it, in the world of cards and blogs, you start seeing them in September! LOL...If you want to read about my resolution, click here. I am happy to say that I have stuck to it.

There are a couple of blogs I have found that had challenges this week that involve snowflakes.
Susie and Vikki's Christmas Club and The Little Red Wagon. So, here is one of my super simple Christmas cards. The snowflake came off of a card I received this year...Doesn't get any easier than that, and I can brag about being "green" by recycling. Well, thanks for the visit and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Valentine Treats

Hi and Happy Thursday!

These are some Valentine's Day treats I was working on a while ago. Last year sometime, I purchased packs of tiny note cards from the dollar store just for the envelopes. Yes, a true card maker am I. I tossed the pre-made (another word for ugly) mini cards that came in the package and started on some minis of my own.

The new little set from PTI was perfect for this craft. I chose the fish image and the sweet sentiment that paired with it. I decided to add the ribbon on the Nestie cut out to add texture and mimic the fishes tail on the image stamp...

and the mailbox was made by covering a couple of Hershey Nuggets with a piece of patterned paper. I shaped the flap by tracing around the two stacked nuggets and the flag was made free hand and glued on with a rhinestone accent.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like the treats you saw...Here are the challenges that my projects are being linked to:
Cooking It Up with Katie-Non-human image, Texture, Never before used product
Crafty Creations-Valentine
Creative Belli Blog-Hearts
Simon Says Stamp-Design Team Call

Butterflies

Edit: Please stop by Lindsay's blog today...She has a freebie for everyone to download!

Good Morning!

The team from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is back with projects for you today. Grab a hot beverage and stop by the blogs for some crafty inspiration.

My card today uses the new set Winged Things. I chose the butterfly image and copied it multiple times to coordinate with my stamped sentiment. I have used this concept before on a card, but I think it is especially nice paired with the butterflies. And a closer look at the glitter I adhered to the card with my 2 way glue pen.
Check out the rest of the crafty goodness from Lindsay and the team here:
Thanks for stopping by and I hope your day is "One of a kind" ! (In a good way-LOL!)

Baby Bingo

Hi Everyone,

My card today is made in anticipation of the arrival of my friend's baby boy! I was really excited to use the bingo cards from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff to make this, because the baby's mom is a huge fan of bingo and plays every week. How perfect is this??? I love it when stuff works out and it makes you look like a genius...lol!These Bingo Cards came from the set Baby Bingo, and the best part...IT'S FREE!!!!!!! I changed printer color to a blue before I printed it out. These cards also match the Babies and Bows set, but I love how easy it is to combine digital image stamps with traditional ones...This sentiment is from my PTI set. Don't you just love the script paired with the printed font??

Here is the close up of the Stickles I used for a bit of bling. I don't usually put sparkle on a male card, but for a bitty baby I figure it's ok :)

Thanks for visiting me today!

Tea Time Birthday

Edit: I noticed the gals over at A Passion for Papertrey are having an embossing challenge, so for fun I am adding my card there!

Good Morning!

My sewing machine is very old. It's one that I inherited from my husband's grandmother and it was refurbished when I got it. Unfortunately, it now needs a new belt and some other servicing again. I'm trying to decide if it's worth it, or just get a new one. Big sigh.

In the mean time, I have a small, hand held gizmo and I used it to sew on my card for the first time this weekend. (It's a popular trend at the moment!)Nothing fancy, just a generic birthday card made for my stash and the challenge at Just Us Girls. I used this paper because it was left over from a previous project, and luckily I had another scrap to use for paper piecing the tea pot image.
Hmmm... I think I'll make some tea...
Have a great day!

How Have You Bean?

Hi and Happy Monday,

The team from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is back this morning with a variety of new projects. With Valentine's Day in about a month, my mind has been leaning in that direction ever since the new year began.

For my project today, I used a template from Lauren Meader to create a little treat box. After printing it out, I embellished the front by embossing it and rubbing over it with some chalk to highlight the textured design. I just adore these cute little jelly beans from the Sweet Stuff set and they pair perfectly with the sentiment from the Coffee Talk set. After coloring them with Bic Mark-its, I added some Glossy Effects to give them dimension and shine.
This is the inside with the real life jelly beans, a view of the Velcro closure and the ribbon which I tied around so the bow would be on top.

Thanks for visiting me. I hope this got your creative juices flowing and to see more inspiration you can visit the rest of the team below:

Birdie Birthday

Hi Everyone!

It sure has turned out to be a great weekend for me. The weather wasn't anywhere near as bad as they predicted. Cold, yes. Not the ten tons of snow though, so Rod and I were able to meet up with my friend from high school (and then we went to the same college too) on Friday night.

I regret to say that even though we live less than a mile apart we rarely talk or see each other. Probably a once a year thing, but with old friends it seems like the conversation just flows so naturally. It was great to be able to catch up; just so warm and wonderful.

Even though we go long stretches of time between calls, I always know it's him on the other end. He always greets me with, "Hola Carmen!" (My name from Spanish class in high school-LOL!) Of course after having a great time and lots of laughs, we always promise to do better and not let so much time pass between get-togethers. Let's see if we follow through on it this time!

Enough with the personal blabbing...Here is a card I made yesterday since it was so cold that I didn't leave the house. I even had the hubster go get the newspaper and mail at the end of the driveway, so I literally didn't step foot outside my door! I followed the sketch from Taylored Expressions and the challenge from Crazy 4 Challenges (make a birthday card), to make a more masculine type card for my stash. At least hope it's masculine. In my book, if it has dark colors, no bow or glitter, it qualifies as a guy card.

Enjoy what's left of you weekend and thanks for dropping in :)

A Birthday and Valentine Card

Edit: For those who asked, the spray adhesive I used on the bingo card on my valentine is Elmer's brand (like the glue). It's called Craft Bond Acid Free Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive.

Hi Everyone!

We are buried under snow here, the newspaper said when this latest blast is done, we could have 17 inches! Sheesh! It's also very cold.

So, with that great intro, today seemed like a good time to share the birthday card I got from my friend Laura last month. I think (although I've been wrong about many things~lol) Stampin' Up just retired this great set which comes with many elements to customize a scene for different seasons. I love this card and the sparse tree with the lone little bird. Perfect for this time of year. Here's a close up of the embossed snowflakes that have a hint of sparkle.

Now, for my latest card. The bingo cards seem to be all the rage right now. I see them popping up on cards in magazines and blogs all over the place. Lindsay's Stamp Stuff has a cute one in the set Love Grow Here that is perfect for Valentine's Day! After printing out this digital stamp, I used spray adhesive and stamping glitter to bling it up. The sentiment is stamped from a new PTI set of mine.

Here is a closer look at the sparkle :)

Inspired by my blogging friend and Lindsay's Stamp Stuff design team Cheryl, ( Hi Cheryl!) I sought out multiple challenges to participate in. This card meets the requirements for the following challenges:
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend everyone...Stay warm and stamp something!

P.S. There is still time to play along at the My Grafico Challenge Blog for a chance to win a cute digital stamp set from Zenwaredesigns. Scroll down if you missed my elephant card from this set!

You can also win by playing along with this week's challenge. Every Wednesday we will have a new sketch and here is the first one. (We also have a challenge on Monday, go here to participate in that challenge as well!)

Here is my card based on the above sketch...I am lovin' the easel style cards, so I decided to make one for my first post.

The elephant image was colored in with pencils, a blender pen and Bic Mark-Its.

I used a computer generated sentiment for the inside.

The gemstones in the corner added just the right amount of bling to complete the card :)
