Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Happy New Year

 Hi Everyone,

We're only a few days away from turning the calendar, and I know I'm not alone is wishing 2020 good riddance!  Bring on the new year!

To celebrate, I made a card using the Sticky Note Calendar stamp.  I hand wrote the numbers and added some glitter glue to the first day to highlight the holiday and the January heading came from the January Birthday Greeting stamp.

For the background, I used the Interlocking Star, along with a star border punch accented with some glitter strips.  The happy new year greeting is a portion from the stamp 365 Days of Happiness.

To finish it off, I simply added a star gem.

Cheers to 2021!

Frosty

 Hi Everyone,

Here's a look at the one paper crafted holiday item I made this year.  I was working on things over the summer for my niece's wedding and I made this rosette out of white paper.  It didn't work out for my favors, so I added some winter elements and made this ornament for the tree.

The rosette base was made from 2 strips of paper measuring 2" x 12", and scored every 1/4".  It was then border punched along one side, folded accordion style and hot glued together.   I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Medium Mr. Snowman image, attaching him to a few die cut and embossed circles of matching paper.  The word Frosty came from the Winter Wonder Words Greeting stamp.

And on the back I used the Snowman Especially for You stamp.

For my Christmas dinner, it will once again just be the 4 of us, so I copied myself and made the same favors I did in this Thanksgiving post, just using peppermint flavored chocolates and these stamps:

However you're celebrating this year, I'm wishing you a Happy Christmas!

Cheers!

Happy Retirement

 Hi Everyone,

I'm using the new Brush Happy Retirement Greeting from DRS Designs on my cards today, and I created a couple of  scenes to go along with it.

Here I stamped and die cut the sentiment and set it aside while I made the rest of the card.  Whenever I get overwhelmed at the thought of making a whole scene, I go small like I did here.  I stamped the Chair first, sponged on the sky, and then just drew in the grass.  I then used the Single Fall Tree and added a border.  My background on the other part of the card was stamped using the Splatter Background stamp in inks to match the scene.  A bit of sponging on the sentiment, along with a ribbon and a few punched leaves completed it.

For this card, I colored and die cut the Sleeping Gnome, and attached it to a background that had a sponged sky and a stamped grass using the Easy Grass Background.

I stamped the greeting at an angle and added the Silhouette Leaf Branch in the background, to finish it off.
Napping.  Now there's an activity I can get behind!

Thanks for visiting today!

New Home

 Hi Everyone,

I'm showing off a couple of the new stamps that have been released here at DRS Designs, and they celebrate one of the best milestones in life, getting a new home!  Whether it's purchasing a new place, or moving into an apartment, DRS Designs has got you covered :)

Here I stamped, colored and die cut the Just Moved House Key image.  I'm not sure it shows up in the photo, but I colored in the key using a silver gel pen, so it has that nice shiny metallic look of metal.  I paired that with an embossed background of keys, added a strip of glitter and a few gems to balance it out.

This card is a mini nod to my team mate Nancy. She made a card last week using a portion of the
New Home Greeting, and I decided to borrow that idea.  She also makes the absolute best wreaths on her cards.  ( Just click here, here or here!)  Mine is not like hers, its simply made using a die (Spellbinders Shapeabilities) and some ink.

Here I continued the greeting inside and stamped the Just Moved House Key a couple more times.

Thanks for visiting today!

Happy Holidays,
Karin

Have a Ball

 Hi Everyone and Happy December!

It was nice to take a break from working on Christmas cards, and these bowling themed cards brought back great memories of my mom.  Back in the day my mom was looking for a hobby, to socialize and get out of the house, so she joined a bowling league.  Mind you, she never bowled before in her life, but boy did she get good at it.  She has been gone 15 years, but  my dad still has her trophies in the basement :)

Here I stamped the background using the bowling ball image from the Strike! 3 in 1 Bowling Designs stamp.  I added a "bowling lane" along the side using the Floor stamp and fussy cut the Bowling Strike, attaching them with some dimensional tape.  I then stamped and cut one extra pin, and attached that to the image for more dimension.
I stamped and die cut the Bowling Birthday Greeting and added 3 enamel dots to finish it off.

Inside, I once again stamped the ball image and added the fun, Ball on Your Birthday Greeting.

Here is one more bowling card, using the Ball on your Birthday Greeting on the front.   This time I stamped the pins from the Strike! 3 in 1 Bowling Designs along a strip and then layered the ball image from that stamp onto some punched circles.

Be sure to visit DRS Designs for these stamps and for lots more stamping ideas too!
Have a great day!
Karin
