Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Happy Birthday Medallion

Hi Everyone,

Guess what?  Lindsay's Stamp Stuff has been in business for 2 years and that means there is a big sale in honor of the celebration!  Everything in her shop is 40% off through April 30th.  Now that's something we can all celebrate!

I went to a rubber stamp convention a couple of weeks ago and purchased something called a Geo-Die.  I was so excited to use it, so I printed out a piece of paper from the Bold Black and White paper set.  The die cuts your paper into a medallion shape along with making cuts on the inside of the shape as well. Then you fold back the inside cuts and it reveals the other side of the paper.  I'm probably not explaining it well, but look how cool it is on my birthday card.  The swirly paper design was perfect for this!

The center Happy Birthday circle is from the All Around Phrases set and I finished it off with a button embellishment.  Both of these sets along with everything else is 40% off at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff!

Don't forget to stop by Lindsay's Blog for lots of how to's and freebies!  Have a great day :)

Cool Pig

Hi Everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I played along with a sketch challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers. I decided to use some of my Hambo Stamps for the making of it, so I thought I would show off the card for that on the old
 blog-o today.

I used my Cool Pig stamp (I love his grin!) and paired it with the sentiment (Stay Cool) that I used on my Popsicle card last week. I also learned how to make my own fabric Yo-Yo's, so I used that for my embellishment on this card.

Have you been to the Hambo Stamps store recently? They have a big sale going on right now, and it's the perfect time to stock up on your wish list items for 25% off!

Also, there is a new challenge starting today at the Hambo Hoedown, and it's a girlie theme this week. Time to get out those flowers and lace :) Please stop by and check out the great cards from the Bacon Bits and be inspired to play along!

Have a great day!

Ladybug Get Well

Hi Everyone,

I have a get well card for you today that I made with one of the new stamps from DRS Designs.  I was happy to receive this new Caught a Bug Greeting stamp because it gave me the opportunity to use this cute Ladybug Stackup which I don't think I've ever had the chance to use yet on the blog.  It was colored with Copic and Bic Mark-its and accented with black Stickles.  I chose to use the dark gray Mark it, it let the cute smiley face come though on the ladybugs. Also, I heat embossed the sentiment, but I don't think it shows in the photo :(

Again I used the Polka Dot background stamp along the side and finished it off with a checked ribbon.  If you are interested in seeing another one of my bug themed get well cards, buzz on by the DRS Designs blog today!

Challenges for this card-

Wishing you all the best...

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great Easter Sunday.  We had a busy day filled with lots of food and family :)

I love having masculine cards in my stash, and this Lighthouse from I Brake for Digis is a great image for that purpose.  I colored it with Copic markers and then went back and added highlights to the water with a white gel pen.  I thought the red bakers twine fit the nautical theme and buttons and twine seem to be my go to masculine embellishments.

Well, I still have lots of post holiday clean up, so my post is short and sweet.  If you want to save 10% off, remember to use the code SAVE10KARIN when shopping at I Brake For Digis.

Have a great Monday!

Happy Easter!

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to post something this weekend that celebrates Easter, so I found these cute little boys on You Tube singing "He Arose" on Easter at church.  They are so sweet.  (They remind me of Spanky on The Little Rascals when he was very young ;) )

Happy Easter!

Easter Time

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently in full shopping, cleaning, setting up and cooking mode right now.  Easter is my holiday to host the family for dinner, so I'm taking this week off from creating something using Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  I will be back with something for you next week.

In the mean time, I encourage you to stop by her personal blog, The Frugal Crafter this week.  She has a great post about making your own Baker's Twine and it's super cool!  A definite must see.  Trust me.

Also, here is a look at some of my favorites from her store.  Everything is 25% off starting tomorrow!  I'm hoping to use these sets in the coming weeks.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great crafty day!

Spring-y Bunnies

Hi Everyone,

When I tried out for the Hambo Stamps design team, they sent me two digis for me to use on cards for my audition.  I showed you one of the cards a while back (Click here to see it again), but I realized I never posted this one.  I figured I better do it today or I'd have to wait until next Easter...lol.  I made a Z Fold card (my favorite "fancy fold" because it's super easy) and popped up a couple of these adorable bunnies, so they would be leaping off the page.  I swear I smile every time I look those faces.  I know I have said this before, but I LOVE their artwork.  Every stamp is cuter than the next :)

Here is a close up of the bunnies and you can find that Spring Bunnies digi stamp by clicking here.

You do realize you can get free digis by playing along in the Hambo Hoedown each Wednesday, right?  Details can be found here.

Thanks for popping by and Happy Easter!

Stay Cool

Hi Everyone,

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another challenge at the Hambo Hoedown.  Sadly I did not get a chance to play along this week, but the theme is "announcement cards".  That means birth announcement, moving or graduation or...YOU decide on what to announce!  All the details can be found at the Hambo Hoedown blog.

Now before you leave, I do have a card that I made with some of my cute Hambo Stamps.  I know it's not quite summer yet, but I couldn't resist making a creamsicle card using this adorable Popsicle stamp (#3421)!  Ahhh!  I just LOVE it.  Along with the cute Stay Cool (#1516) sentiment, that yummy May Arts ribbon is also from Hambo!

Seriously, look how great that Sheer Pinstripe ribbon is...And the selection at Hambo is HUGE and the prices are right in your budget :)

Sorry to hear of your loss

Hi Everyone,

I have a sympathy card for you today made with newly released stamps from DRS Designs.  The background was created with what you already know is my new favorite, Polka Dot background stamp.

I stamped the new Background Branch twice and colored it with my Copics and the Medium Daisy Bloom was stamped on a separate piece of paper, colored and cut out and pieced on top in the center of the leaves.

The Sorry for your loss sentiment is from the current catalog and was stamped in black ink to match the outlines.  The entire image panel was matted in black which I think makes it pop.

Thanks for stopping by today, and if you need more inspiration, drop by the DRS Designs blog today and visit my other card there ;)

Cupcake Trio

Hi Everyone,

What's better than a cupcake?  Before you say "nothing", how about three cupcakes?  lol.  I could always use a little extra sugar, especially on a Monday, so these little cuties make my day!

The Cherry Cupcake image is from I Brake for Digis and I simply copied it so that there would be three.  Piece of cake. (Or rather, cupcake ;) )

The doily is actually a heart doily that I bought around Valentine's, but I hid most of it behind, so you really can't tell.  Gotta use up those supplies, right?  I added the bakers twine because it matched the theme and the button is there because it's cute.  My husband will always ask why this or that is on a card.  Like everything has to mean something.  Sometimes it's just for cuteness and that's reason enough.

You can save 10% off your purchase by using the code SAVE10KARIN when shopping at I Brake for Digis.

Have a great start to your week!

Happy Saturday

Hi Everyone,

I'm having issues with the speakers on my computer, so I'm not posting a song this week.  I did want to pop by and say that I have a busy weekend ahead. I'm going to see Two Gentleman of Verona on Saturday and I will be at the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook convention in Akron, OH on Sunday.  I'm pretty excited about it, there will be lots of exhibitors (which means a big ouch for my wallet...lol.) and DRS Designs will be one of them.  I'm really excited to meet Sue in person.  She's one of the owners and I only know her through email and blogging.  If you are from the area and plan on going, I should be hanging around their booth for a chunk of time and would love it if you came by and said hello.

Hope to see you this weekend.

Some Bunny New

Hi Everyone,

My friend recently had a baby, and even though I made a card for the shower, (I forgot to show it on the blog) I felt the need to make one for them now that she is here.

I used this new digi from Amber Ink's Love Bunny line named Bunny Family.  Isn't it sweet?  This card is being popped in the mail, so I kept it flat and embellishment free. (After sending out a bunch of Easter and spring cards this week, which need 2 stamps each for all the doo dads, my wallet needed a break!)  I did create the background paper myself using one of the design elements in the stamp set Mod Kitch Kitsch. (This set is also available as a digi too!) I stamped in Versafine brown and then randomly colored in the little boxes to match.

Those 5 little dots are a stamp too, but the sentiment I computer generated.

Thanks for visiting today and if you haven't been by Amber Ink lately, you don't know what you are missing!

Make it Monday-Anything Goes
Nettie G's-Favorite Digi

Sketchy Cosmos

Hi Everyone,

I used my favorite flower image from the set Fancy Flowers from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff today.  I love this little sketchy flower for a general feminine type card. This card is for my stash, so I just stamped a small "for you" in the corner, so I can use it for whatever occassion I choose.  Since I can only do super messy stitching with my hand held sewer thingy, this is fake and done by hand.  Not perfectly straight, but you get the idea.

Here is the entire set of flowers:

Thanks for visiting me this Thursday and make sure you visit Lindsay's Blog for all kinds of crafty goodness...Hope the flowers are starting to bloom where you live :)

Distressed Pig

Hi Everyone!

The theme this week at the Hambo Hoedown is "Distressing".  I really like the texture distressing can give a card and I went a little "hog wild" (ha-ha) with my crumpling of the papers.  I also added some distress ink to the edges of everything too.  It's funny, because of this theme,  I feel like this Balloon Pig (1903) is calling his lawyer to get him out of the mess he made...lol!

The punny Sow Have You Been sentiment (1917) fit neatly (isn't that ironic) in the corner and I added twine and buttons to match the whole messy/rustic look.

If you want to play along, just use any digi or traditional stamp from Hambo and join in the fun this week!  Messy is good :)

Simon Says Stamp-Distressing

F.R.O.G

Hi Everyone,

I'm showing off another one of the new releases from DRS Designs today.  I used that great Polka Dot stamp again on my card.  You will see it a lot.  Each release from DRS Designs will contain a new favorite for me, and I'm pretty sure this is it this time around...lol.  I embossed the background panel with larger dots and the FROG Rely On God greeting is an all in one stamp.

I took the color inspiration from my ribbon and I heat embossed the the little frog and sentiment.

Thanks for visiting and if you want to see this card in full, pop on by the DRS Designs blog today!

Have a good one!

Bon Voyage

Hi Everyone,

I made this card for someone who recently vacationed in Hawaii.  I knew I wanted to give them a send off, but I didn't have any stamps in my supplies that fit the travel theme.  I was desperate and cheap, so luckily I remembered that I Brake for Digis had this airplane in their freebie section.  Woo-Hoo! It's free for everyone, so pop by and grab it.  You never know when you made need to make a travel themed something :)

I went with tropical paper, to give it the Hawaiian look, and the sentiment is computer generated.  I wish the chalk that I added to the image panel showed up more in the photo.  The blue stood out well in real life.  Oh well.

Thanks for checking in today...Remember the code SAVE10KARIN and you will save 10% off anything you buy at I Brake For Digis.

Music Saves My Soul Saturday

Hi Everyone,

My choice this week for Music Saves My Soul Saturday is new for me.  Jessica Lea Mayfield is a local musician that had a concert here this past week, so she was all over our local media.  After hearing her interviewed, I decided to check her out and I'm posting her appearance on Letterman from 6 weeks ago.  She has a great plaintive voice, but I'm so not a fan of black tights and light colored shoes...lol.

Enjoy your weekend!

Caught a Bug?

Hi Everyone!

I can tell it's spring time with all the cute bug stamps I've been seeing around lately :)  Bugs are always cute on cards, rarely in real life.  Luckily these cutie pies are on my card made with some newly released  stamps from DRS Designs.

I have to say that one of my favorites of the new releases is this great design element of Polka Dots.  It was designed with the Swiss Dot embossing folder in mind and I just love the backgrounds you can make with it.  I have something similar from another company, however this one I love more,  because of it's size.  It's a full 6 inches, so it fits across the bottom of my card completely and there is no lining up of anything to make it across.  LOVE that!  The Ladybug with Flower and Sally Snail are from the current catalog, but they were the perfect images to color up to match the new sentiment, "Caught a Bug".

It's pretty straightforward, but this is the type of card that I would make at my little craft table to send to someone to cheer them up.  My husband said, " You want those words hanging off like that"?  It's called a sentiment.  And yes.  Yes I do.  It just adds a little visual interest, right?  Please tell me you card makers out there get it.  lol

You can see all of the new stamps from DRS Designs right here.  As always, your brighten my day with your visits and comments.

You're Sty-lish

Hi Everyone!

It's time for another challenge at the Hambo Hoedown Blog and the theme this week is an Easel Card.  Isn't that fun?  I'm always happy when the theme is easy to play along with no matter what type of Hambo Stamps you are using.  If you didn't get the digi for this week by playing along in the challenge last week, just use any Hambo Stamp and join in the fun!

With a company name like Hambo, you know they have to have some cute pig stamps, and this week I'm proud to use this great "Cool Pig" (1909) stamp along with the funny "Sty-lish"(1922) sentiment.  This pig is totally "swave and deeboner"...lol. I know he would make a great image on a masculine card too...Don't you love his Risky Busineess shades?  I totally think of that movie whenever I see sunglasses like that!

Do you like the puffy Satin Ivory Heart embellishments?  Those are from Hambo Stamps as well.  They are actually some May Arts Ribbon which I cut apart and used separately.  They have all sorts of ribbon, so definitely give it a look see.  You will not be disappointed.

Hope you can join in the dancing this week at the Hambo Hoedown!

An invitingly darling card - yummy! Tho the ribbons are burgundy, the photo makes them look a little chocolatey, too - almost like ribbon'ed chocolate! The colors in your card are perfect with the sentiment. So when do we get started testing out how much chocolate?

Congrats Donna! Just email Judy at hambodesignteam@gmail.com to claim the digi of your choice.

Spring Time Bunny

Hi Everyone,

Did you have a nice weekend?  I'm so thrilled to have left the month of March behind, that I'm celebrating by showing off my latest card made with a digi from I Brake for Digis.  I used the sweet Bunny and Flower Pots image for this spring themed card.

I wish I was British, because then I could use the word "chuffed" and not come off as lame...Isn't that the greatest word?  I really am chuffed over my coloring of the bunny and flowers.  I know it's not much, since there are so many experts out there, but this is one of my better attempts :) :) :)

If you want to grab this digi for yourself, remember to use the code SAVE10KARIN and you will save 10% off your purchase at I Brake For Digis.

Music Saves My Soul Saturday

*For a chance at winning a free digi from Hambo Stamps, see my blog post HERE.*

Happy Saturday!

My offering this week for Music Saves My Soul Saturday on Marcea's blog is the new song from Two Door Cinema Club.  I think they sound a little too much like Vampire Weekend, but I think that's why I like this song.  The video is goofy, which makes me like it for this reason too.

Have a great weekend!

Hambo April Fools Day Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the “Go Ahead, Laugh at Us!” Hambo Stamps Blog Hop! The Bacon Bits are here to help you start your month off right with a little April Fools laughter and fun.

Before we get to the cards, here is a little piggy joke to get laughing right from the start.  Ready?

Why did the little pig hide the soap?
Because he heard the farmer yell, "Hogwash"!

Yeah yeah, my hubby just rolled is eyes and said, "That's the joke you're gonna use"?  Whatever, I liked it.

Now, if you arrived here from  Silke's blog, you are in the right place. If not, you will want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog – TALK TO THE HAM. We don’t want you to miss anything!
A little surprise is hiding on one of the blogs today, so be sure to leave some comment love as you “hoof it” around the hop. One lucky commenter on the mystery hop spot will be in hog heaven and win a $15.00 gift certificate to Hambo Stamps!

Not only that, each design team member will be giving away a digi image to one random commenter on their blog.  As for my give away, I will let you choose the image you want, so make sure you leave a comment before midnight April 3rd CST.  I will announce the winner here on my blog Monday morning April 4th.  You will then have one week to email your name and digi choice to designteam@hambostamps.  We love comments anytime, but remember the deadline for prize entries is midnight April 3rd CST.

My card today is made with one of the stamps in the Fractured Funnies line of stamps named How Much Chocolate (#3113).  These stamps come in pairs; one for the outside and one to finish off the inside.  I was thrilled to get this stamp, along with the cute little chocolate chip(#1723),  because I LOVE chocolate!  The inspiration for my card came from one of those fancy chocolate shops that has their goodies displayed so well that you want to eat them all!  Here is the front of my card...

And this is the inside all decorated to match :)

Do you like my ruffled ribbon? Well, it came from Hambo Stamps too!  Yes, Hambo Stamps has a whole line of May Arts ribbon and this is a 3/8" grosgrain ribbon in a yummy burgundy color (#SX25).    I just used super sticky tape and ruffled it up.

Next up on the hop is Hannah. You will love what she has to show you today!

Thanks for visiting!
