Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Halloween Pumpkins

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for my absence, but I spent some time away in North Carolina visiting with old friends. I love how you can just pick up where you left off, and conversation just flows so easily.  This was at Marybeth's house (Mike's mom) and she cooked us a delicious meal of Chicken Parmesan.  She set a pretty table on top of cooking enough for an army :)

We also stopped off to visit my niece at Ohio University, but sadly we had to skip our intended trip to visit the Biltmore Estate.  Since the rain came down in biblical proportions on one of the days that we were planning to be there, it ended up being for the best.  Oh well.  It will be our vacation for next year :)

She's just so cute and the campus is tree laden and totally bucolic looking.  They should film a movie there, it looks that much like the perfect back drop to some coming of age film. After all, it's the #1 party school in America.  Yes, it literally has that reputation.  Maybe she can be a positive influence now that she's there.  wink :)

Rod and I also celebrated our 22nd anniversary over the weekend and we finally had dinner at
DC Pasta. It's been on our must eat there list forever.  Sorry no photo, but click on the link to see the menu. (We had the Carbonara, Gnocchetti, Strozzapreti, salads and a bunch of marinated veggies.)   Best pasta I've had since our trip to Italy in the spring. You can trust my tastebuds and my waistline!

Ok, finally on to the card for today.  The challenge beginning today at the DRS Designs blog is Pumpkins.  How easy is that for this time of year?  I haven't bought my real life pumpkins yet, in fact, I'm still hanging on to those summer flowers as long as I can ;)

Anyway, I couldn't resist inking up this Precious Pumpkin with his candy corn nose...Isn't he adorbs?

I used the following background stamps on my card base:

You can check out all of the cards from the DT right here, as well as link up your pumpkin card for a chance at a prize!  Hope to see you there....

Caught a Bug

Hi Everyone,

While I'm still on hiatus and won't officially be back with the Sparkle N Sprinkle team until October, I wanted to let you know there will be a great holiday themed blog hop happening next week.  Mark your calender and hop along with my team mates for some glittery inspiration!

Until then, I'm showing off my own spider card made with the Fill the Jar (423) set.  It's very cute with lots of great things to put in the two jars included.  Mine is a get well card that shows off some paper piecing and bits of embossing.

The lid of the jar was embossed with Silver Detail (EP257) and the strips of Tear-iffic Tape were embossed with Tuscan Star (EP426).

Full card details can be found in my gallery at Sparkle N Sprinkle.

Well, truth be told, I myself have caught a bug.  Such a BUMMER :(  I was on a good roll too, this is my first cold in 2 years.  When I put it like that, I guess I can't complain.

Thanks for dropping by.

What's One More Candle?

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs is the sponsor over at the Craft Your Passion blog for their Blast from the Past Challenge.  Just head over to their blog and choose any one of their old challenges (just not an anything goes!) and play along for a chance at $10.00 voucher from DRS Designs.

I chose to participate using challenge #120, which is
black, white + 1 other color, and they were kind enough to feature my card on the blog over there!

These are the stamps I used:

Today is my day to post over at the DRS Designs blog as well, so if you need some more inspiration, I have another black, white and one other color card featured over there.  Check it out here.

Have a great day!

It's a Jungle Out There

Hi Everyone,

The theme for this week's challenge over at the DRS Designs blog is "It's a Jungle Out There!"  So we want you to play along with any jungle animal stamp.

My card has a bunch of animals since I used the Jungle Animal Friends stamp.  Aren't they so cute?  I love the faces on them :)  I added the From All of Us as a sentiment, for the obvious reason.  I really liked that the font on the stamp has an open line, it let me color the letters to match my card.

Along the bottom I used the new Argyle background stamp and added a ribbon and few gems.

Thanks for popping in and hope you can join us for the challenge!

Challenges for this card:
Challenges 4 Everybody-Anything Goes
Squirrel and the Fox-Anything Goes
Come and Get It-Tic Tac Toe (Die cut, Punch, Free Space)
One Stop Craft-No Floral Embellishments

Details not listed above-Paper: The Paper Company, Ink: Memento, Markers: Copic, Die: Papertrey Ink, Punch: EK Success, Ribbon: American Crafts, gems from my supplies.

Shaker Card

Hi Everyone,
Well, I finally tried it and it totally worked.  It's a shaker card!
I won't go into massive details on how to make one, because they are spelled out so beautifully at Splitcoaststampers here, but all you need is a piece of acetate and some dimensional tape and you can make this happen too.

DRS Designs released his wonderful Confetti Alert stamp, and that's what gave me the idea for the shaker card. I punched out a bunch of little flowers for the confetti and put them inside the die cut . I used a piece of a Clear Poly Sheet from DRS Designs for the little window on my card and dies and a punches for the flower and the leaves.

The backgrounds were made using a couple of my favorite stamps, Easy Dot and
Interlocking Flowers. I added some epoxy stickers and some ribbon and lace for the embellishments.

Well, sorry I don't have any extra chit chat, but thanks for stopping by and I do hope you're having a wonderful day.

Paper Take Weekly-Anything Goes

Army Bear

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a good Labor Day weekend.  Ours was quiet with not many plans due to all the rain they predicted.  Which never really came, except of course after we built our bonfire...lol!

Anyway, friends of ours had a son enlist this year, so I made this thinking of you card for them.  I know they are so proud of him, but miss him terribly.  The card is long gone, but I noticed Meljen's challenge is Anything Goes this week, so here it is.  Her artwork is just so cute :)

That's it for me.  I'll have my DRS Designs post in a day or so, but until then, the challenge over there is to make a card with a ghost on it.

Other Challenges for this card:
Hooked on Crafts-Cards for Men
Make it Monday-Anything Goes
OooLaLa-Teddy Bear
Stamp and Create-Anything Goes
Pink Elephant-Patterned Paper
