Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Happy Retirement

                                                                      Hi Everyone,

I made this card with my cousin in mind.  Her last day of work was last Friday, and now she is free to do as she pleases.  Woot woot!

I'm not sure if they have flamingos in Hawaii, or if they dance the hula in other tropical places, so I've probably mixed up my warm weather images for this card.  Whatever.  I say it celebrates all her travel to come ;)

I stamped the Flamingo Palm Tree Scene for the background and then added the Hula Pig and Brush Happy Retirement Greeting to the front.

A few enamel dots and a dab of glitter on her flower finished it off.

Inside I stamped the Rest Best of Life Birthday Greeting, because it seemed so perfect for the occasion.  And who can resist Hula Pig?  She had to come along inside too!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're dancing your way through summer!

Hugs,
Karin

Happy Retirement

 Hi Everyone,

I'm using the new Brush Happy Retirement Greeting from DRS Designs on my cards today, and I created a couple of  scenes to go along with it.

Here I stamped and die cut the sentiment and set it aside while I made the rest of the card.  Whenever I get overwhelmed at the thought of making a whole scene, I go small like I did here.  I stamped the Chair first, sponged on the sky, and then just drew in the grass.  I then used the Single Fall Tree and added a border.  My background on the other part of the card was stamped using the Splatter Background stamp in inks to match the scene.  A bit of sponging on the sentiment, along with a ribbon and a few punched leaves completed it.

For this card, I colored and die cut the Sleeping Gnome, and attached it to a background that had a sponged sky and a stamped grass using the Easy Grass Background.

I stamped the greeting at an angle and added the Silhouette Leaf Branch in the background, to finish it off.
Napping.  Now there's an activity I can get behind!

Thanks for visiting today!

Retirement Cards

Hi Everyone,

Last week I mentioned that one of my dreams is to retire to the beach.  I'm not sure that wish will ever come true, but I did make today's retirement cards with the ocean in mind :-)

I made a little beach scene using the following stamps, coloring them and the background in using Copic markers and a white gel pen.

I framed it out using a piece of brown card stock and layered it onto a turquoise paper that was embossed with time pieces...time sure does seem to have less meaning when you don't have someplace to be!

And this second card was simply made by stamping and heat embossing the Seaside Dock stamp and adding the die cut Happiness Retirement Greeting on top of a embossed border piece.  Super easy, but monochromatic cards are never a fail in my book.

Here's hoping you're having a relaxing week, whether it's seaside or backyard inspired!

Thanks for visiting!

God Bless Your Retirement

Hi Everyone,

I often dream about what we will do when we hit retirement age, but it's a few years in the distance for us.  Winter in Florida? Travel? Buy a ranch? ( A one level house, not property with horses...lol!)  It's fun to think about, but at the same time I don't want to wish my life away.  So, while I'm living my life until then, I'll just have fun creating some cards with a retirement theme :)

It's a cream and black monochromatic card that I have for my share today, featuring the lovely God Bless Retirement Greeting that was stamped and die cut.

I created the background using the Polka Dot Flower and layered onto it a strip of Swiss Dot embossed paper and punched flower border.

For embellishment, I stamped the flower on black paper and heat embossed it using white embossing powder. I fussy cut it, attaching it to the card with a piece of foam tape and adding a black gem.
Here is a close up:

Here's to everyone who's blessed to live long enough to make those retirement dreams come true!

Have a great day!

Happy Retirement!

Hi Everyone,

I'm showing off another fun card made with my DRS Designs stamps. I just love this little guy with his prize catch...He looks so proud!  The stamp is very apporpriately named Proud Catch Fisherman and I thought I would pair it with the sentiment Happy Retirement.  What better time to pursue those favorite hobbies but when you have all the time in the world, right?

DRS Designs has all kinds of great background stamps too, so you never have to scramble for patterned paper, you can always make your own, just like I did here.  I used the Interlocking Circles because I thought they kinda looked like bubbles in the water.

I gave the fish a googly eye and added some twine and buttons.  Those are my go to embellishments for guy cards ;)

Have you been playing along with the Stamp A Day Give Away at the DRS Designs blog this month? You only have until the end of June, so drop by the blog today and check out my card featured over there.  Oh, and have you seen their new releases for summer?  You can check them out right here...So cute!

Have a great day!
