Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Bonfire Treats

Hi Everyone,

Today  is a bittersweet day because it is my last post as a design team member of My Grafico.  I can't believe six months have come and gone.  Time is just so weird.  I have loved being part of a fabulous group of people and I know the new ladies will love bringing you the challenges each week.  So that is the happy news, you can still play along each week by going to the My Grafico challenge thread for your chance at winning the digi set of the week.  Who knows?  I might even see you there!

This week, the set you can win is the Patrotic Stamp set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff and I used the patchwork quilt image for packaged treat.  If you make these ahead of time, everyone is set to  make their own S'Mores and dessert on the 4th of July is super easy.  There is nothing better than that sticky, gooey marshmallow and chocolate combination!

Here is a close up.

If you would like to win this set of images for your own bonfire treats, upload your card to My Grafico today!

Over the Hill

Hey Everyone,
Did you have a fun weekend?  I attended the company picnic where my husband works on Saturday.  I think the employees and their families all had a fun time.  Summer is a great time to party outside, right?

Unless it was last years picnic.  There was a monsoon that day. I kid you not. Words cannot describe what it was like to be huddled in a picnic pavilion with a hundred people and the rain blowing at us sideways.  I take that back, the words would be...Soaking Wet!  The wind showed no mercy and ripped off the table clothes that were taped down with Duct Tape!  Doesn't that stuff hold anything and everything together?  Napkins and plates were flying like confetti, children were crying, and the lighting made me fear for my life!  Needless to say everyone was reminiscing about it...a year later you can laugh.

Well, my card today is made with a sentiment from DRS Designs.  I immediately thought I would pair So Many Candles with this embossing folder for a great clean and simple Over the Hill type of card.  Perfect  for a guy. Even though I broke my rule about glitter on guy cards.  They are however candles that shine, and it's a birthday for goodness sake, so I'm making an exception.

Thanks for visiting!

More Black and Cream

Hi Everyone,
I promise this will be my last black and cream colored card for a while!  I feel like I have worn out that color
combo, but I really like it!  I was looking forward to inking up Emma, as I have seen some lovely things made with this stamp by my team mates at Scrolls Work.  You should check out the gallery here.  Lots of fab inspiration! She looks so sweet and innocent...Because of the way she is posed, I thought it would pair perfectly with the simple thinking of you sentiment from Personal Holidays.  Wouldn't you like to receive a darling card like this from someone?  Those "just because" cards are some of the best ones to find in the mailbox.

I love that you dropped by to visit me today.  Know that the comments you leave me here on the blog mean a lot.

Have a great weekend :)

You're Sew Sweet

This is my second post for the day...Please scroll down for the current I Love Digi Challenge.

Hi Everyone!

Well, the week is just flying by for me.  There's always something going on during the summer months, so I was happy I remembered I made this card sometime ago, and never got to show it off.  The image I used on this card comes from this set Sew Pretty from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.

Lots of iconic sewing images in this digi set.  Isn't that tomato pin cushion so cute and retro?

This is a layout I've used before; I have a few of them that I go to time and time again, simply because I know they will make a cute card every time.

The sentiment is computer generated and those are four purple rhinestones for a little pizazz.

Thanks for dropping by today.  Lindsay will have the usual little surprise on her blog for you and I know the rest of the design team ladies have great projects too.  Be sure to check them out!

Color Challenge Time

Hey Everyone!

Are you ready for a color challenge this week?  You are playing for the set of Mermaid Stamps by Zenwaredesigns and the colors are that of the sea!  Use, Blues, Greens and Kraft.

I took a bit of poetic licence and used a cream rather than Kraft, simply because I wanted to use this cream ribbon with a bit of sea green shimmer on it. (I don't think it shows in the photo, but it's so pretty!)The card base is a 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" square and the image extends above it a bit.  Sort of like a Tent Topper Card

If you would like to win the set, play along on the Challenge Thread at My Grafico...Can't wait to see what you create using these colors!

Take a Little Time...

Hi All!

My post is a quickie today.  I wanted to play along with the current sketch challenge at EBTKS, because it looked so easy.  Ha.  I was making it way too complicated for myself.  (I trashed at least four cards before I made this one...lol.)  I mean, look how simple it is, right?

Then I remembered I made a bunch of embellishments (I used one on this card here) and I thought they would be perfect for this sketch.
Once I decided on that, I used a the sentiment Take Time from Scrolls Work for the outside. I thought I would finish the inside to match the outside flower embellishment, so I used the stamp called Dot Flowers, and the Happy Birthday is from Personal Holidays.

So even though this took me about ten minutes, it really took three hours. Stamping can be the craziest hobby!

Thanks for the visit...Hope you're having a good week so far!

Happy Birthday

Hi and Happy Monday!

I have a cute birthday card today made with stamps from DRS Designs.  I love having these types of card in  my stash.  Great for grabbing to send to someone at the last minute because it's universal enough to use for any female from a friend to your grandmother.  Or "G. Ma" as I like to call her when I'm texting my nieces about her.
These are the stamps I used when in the making of the card!
Open Plaid (Love how this one works to create a cool background!)
Ribbon Dot Edger (I've used this a bunch of times because it has such a multi purpose use.  I put a small dot in the center of each dot with a black pen here.)
Circle Lilly (I colored it with my Copics.)
Lots of Dots Giga 3" Circle (Coordinates with the Marvy Giga Punch)
Happy Birthday Arc (I love the curve this sentiment has!)

Thanks for visiting today, and don't forget to visit the DRS Designs blog for your chance to win the Stamp of the Day!

Whoopsie Daisy-Ribbons and Bows

It's Five O'clock Somewhere...

Hi and Happy Father's Day!

The color combo of red, white and blue just screams summer to me.  In fact, I put out patriotic decorations right before Memorial day at my house, and leave them up until Labor Day.  Summer is definitely full of all American holidays.  So, that's where the inspiration for this card came from.

I know I've used individual drinks form the stamp Drink Line Up by DRS Designs, but I thought I would show you it in its entirety.  I used it as the focal point, as well as using it to make my background paper.
This fun sentiment,"It's Five O'clock Somewhere" is the perfect thing to complete the celebratory look of this card.  I also used the edger stamp Ribbon Dot on the red background.

Well, I'm looking forward to celebrating with my Dad today.  Yup, meat and potatoes are on the menu...lol!

Remember to visit the DRS Designs blog to comment for your chance to win the Stamp of the Day!

Little Bitty Lady Bug

Hi Everyone!

I'm broke out my stamps from DRS Designs recently and made this card to show you today.

I just love bugs on cards in the summer time :)  Yes, on cards they are cute (Ladybugs, ants, spiders at Halloween) just not in my house! lol.

These are the stamps I used to create this bit of cuteness:

I used a corner punch and then added the dots with a white gel pen.  The lady bugs were cut out of the edge stamp and the glued to the sentiment panel.

Thanks for visiting and have a great rest of the day!

If the Shoe Fits...

Hi Friends!

Today is Lindsay's Stamp Stuff day here on my blog, and I'm using this shoe image from her set It's A Girl Thing from her shop at My Grafico.  I printed it out multiple times, colored them different colors and added a computer generated sentiment to match.  The background paper is from the Uptown Hounds tooth collection and I can't believe this is the first time I've  used it.  With digital papers you can print them out when you want, as much as you want.  Love it with this funky shoe!

Here is a close up of the puffs that I embellished with some flower soft and the sentiment that's computer generated.

Be sure to stop by Lindsay's blog for her Thursday Freebie and check out my Design Teammates for more fabulous ideas using stamps from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff!

For this card I used the following stamps:

This card also fits the Bling challenge at Meljen's.

Many Awards and A Card

Hi Everyone,

Hope your day is off to a great start!

Well, I have been a crummy blogging friend lately. Over the past month or so, I have recieved many fun blogging and friendship awards, but I have been lagging in posting them and saying thank you to these wonderful ladies.  They are all so sweet and special in so many ways.  Some are team mates, some are blogging friends who lift me up with their kind words, (some are both!)  but all are creative and inspire me each and every day with their generous spirit and talent.  So, today I'm posting a collective thank you...You mean so much to me and you all rock!

(Definately see Cheryl...She has Stampin' Up blog candy and it ends today!)

Some have specific rules for accepting them, but I cannot possibly do them all or think of that many folks to pass them on to, so will just ask you to visit these fab folks and leave them some love on their blogs!

Please, if you would like one of these awards for yourself or to pass on to someone who needs their day brightened...Take it and spread the love my blogging friends!

Finally, my card.  I saw this idea on a blog here, and just loved it.  Simple perfection.  When I recieved this stamp (Spirit and Hand) from Scrolls Work,  I knew I could finally use this idea for inspiration and create my own card.

Lovely quote, genius idea. Thank you to where ever it was originally from since this blogger who posted it saved the idea for a while herself.

Have a fabulous day!

Vintage Thank You

Happy Weekend!

Before I get to my card, I just wanted to give you a little FYI...Cheryl has some awsome Stampin' Up blog candy!  Go to her blog to enter...It's super easy :)

This card today has a lot of texture to it.  I decided to make a vintage looking thank you card using some  stamps from Scrolls Work.  I made a tag using the stamp Ruffled Feathers #4071.  She is stamped in  Onyx Black Versafine ink and then distressed with some Antique brown ink along the edges. The backgound paper was embossed and sanded to bring out the color underneath (I purchased it at a local scrapbook store, but there was no company name on it...It's very unique because the color underneath the black is metallic.)  I added a bit of real lace and paper with a lace pattern.  The layered flower embellishment I assembled myself using prima flowers, beads, text from an old book and a pearl brad.  The thank you sentiment comes from the stamp Personal Holidays #1601.

Thanks for stopping in today and have a great weekend!

This card is linked to the following challenges:
Artful Inkables-Challenge Yourself to go outside of you comfort zone (Vintage for me!)

Details not listed above-Ink:Tim Holtz, all other items from my supplies or of unknown origin.

Stack-O-Books

This is my second post for today...Please scroll down for the current I Love Digi Challenge. ( It matches this card! )

Hey Everyone!

For my Lindsay's Stamp Stuff post today, I thought I would make a card to match my bookmark that I made using this same image from School Rules.  Besides crafting, one of my favorite hobbies is reading, so it's no wonder I like this image so much!

I took inspiration from this paper for how I wanted to color my books and I love the bright, vibrant look.  So cheerful!

I think this will be the perfect card to send to someone in my book club!

If you are thinking about buying anything from the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Shop at My Grafico, this would be the time to do it.  There is a sale going on right now!

Anything but a Card

Hi Eveyone!

Are you ready to join in the fun, new challenge at I Love Digi?  Let's get right to it...Anything But A Card!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Wink Wink Ink and the prize is three digis!

I chose to make one of my favoite things...A bookmark!  I love them and I think they are the perfect thing to pop into a card for someone as a thank you, or include as part of a gift if you are giving someone a book :)

However, I am slightly fearful that these may become obsolete, what with everyone downloading books onto their digital readers...LOL!
I knew I wanted to make a bookmark the minute I saw this stack of books from the set School Rules by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  With that cute apple on the top, I think this would be perfect for a teacher as an end of the year thank you.

The rest of the I Love Digi design team has some fun things to show you.  Visit their blogs and and then link up your Anything but a Card creation at I Love Digi.  I can't wait to see what you make!

Dogs Have Owners...

EDIT: This is also being linked to the embossing challenge at Meljen's.

Good Morning!

Ack!  Blogger was giving me problems all day yesterday.  I hate it when technology doesn't work.

Well, I'm so glad everything is working again, and I can bring you this card that I made for the Wet/Dry embossing challenge at Caardvarks Challenge BlogDRS Designs is the sponsor this month, so grab those embossing supplies and you might be the winner of some DRS Stamps!

For this card I used a Kraft base and embossed a light pink piece of cardstock with some paw prints.  I used all DRS Designs stamps for this card and they are:
I love the Spirograph like stamp.  I colored in every other opening after stamping it to create that effect on the frame.

I also used some clear embossing powder on the brown paw prints along the bottom.  Don't you just love the sentiment?  So funny!

Other challenges this card is linked to are as follows:
All Sorts Challenge-Strawberries, cream and chocolate

Smarty Pants

Good Morning!

How was your weekend?  Mine was good.  I'm going to give myself away as a total geek, but I loved watching the National Spelling Bee on Friday night :)  I look forward to it each year; maybe it's because my own spelling ability is so poor.  Thanks in part to spell check...lol. That's what technology will get ya.  I'm so out of practice and I was actually a decent speller in elementary school. (If you've never seen Spellbound, a documentary about kids and the National Spelling Bee, I highly recommend it. Totally great!)

It's been awhile since I was able to bring you a card made with my stamps from Scrolls Work, so I'm happy to be able to post this one today.

In honor of all those smarty pants kids, I made this card with this cute fella (Garrette #4042) who looks dapper and smart, hence the sentiment. (Charming Girly Quips #1462)

Well, short and sweet from me today... Thanks for stopping by :)

Challenges this is linked to are as follows:
Magical Crafts-Metal Madness
