Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Beware of Zombies

Hi Everyone,

I have a quick and easy card share to remind you to join us for our current Trick or Treat challenge  on the DRS Designs blog.  I colored up the Zombie Gal along with the Beware of Zombies Sign stamp and fussy cut them out.  Since I knew this card would be pretty plain, I stamped and colored a second sign post and layered it on top of the first to add a bit of dimension.  I attached these onto an embossed background of a haunted house.

Then I uploaded it to the blog, and I looked at it and thought, hmmmmm....It needs something.

So I went back and added a few googly eyes to my die cut bats. That seemed to do the trick and make it more complete :).

Also, over the weekend I baked some mini pumpkin pecan loaves as a favor for my dinner guests to take home with them. I made my own tags by cutting a rectangle from some card stock, stamped and colored my Simply Pumpkin and used my corner punch and hole punch to make them look like tags, since I don't have a tag die that large.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you at the challenge!

Zombies Rising

Hi Everyone,

It's official.  It's finally time for fall and Halloween in my house.  Any guess as to why I'm now prepared?  The answer is simple.  Candy corn...LOL!  I bought my first bag of the season, and I'm munching away as I type :-)  I know I've been working on making Halloween cards for a few weeks,  but things feel right with the world now that those sugary little nibs made their appearance in my house.

For today's card I chose the Zombies Rising Halloween Greeting from DRS Designs that I die cut and matted using oval dies.  I wanted to embellish it with a rising zombie, so I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Zombie Crawler and attached him to the sentiment, making him look like he was crawling over it.  He still needed a little something extra, so I added some googly eyes for fun.

My background was created using orange, green and black ink and the Splatter Background stamp, which I layered onto an orange card base.  I added a strip of ribbon to a punched border and finished it off with a glittery button and a die cut spider.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great day :)

Remember the Ghoul Times

Hi Everyone,

When I started work on my card today, I knew that I wanted to incorporate into it, all three of the zombie images that were recently released at DRS Designs.  I tried stamping them and making a group a scene, but they weren't cooperating.  So, I grabbed some circle punches and relied on one of my all time favorite card sketches to make something worth showing off  to you :).

I dry embossed my background and added a stamped graveyard strip at the bottom that matched the card base, covering up the seam with some black lace.

Then all I had to do was punch out my colored zombies and sentiment, attaching them with dimensional foam tape.

Here are links to all the stamps used on today's card, and be sure to check out our current "selfie" challenge!

Happy Haunting!
