Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Howdy Valentine

 Hi Everyone,

I made this valentine with my sweet 9-month-old great nephew in mind, because I'm in the baby-sitting rotation now that my niece has gone back to work.  I imagine he'll look like this cute fellow in a short couple of years.  Until then he's an adorable, chubby little cherub that refuses to nap unless I hold him the whole time.  While I'm enjoying the baby snuggles, my arm is usually asleep when he wakes up ;-)

Anyway, I colored up the cute Saddle Up Cowboy and made some valentine themed patterned paper, using the Silhouette Love Heart and Small Silhouette Heart stamps.

I attached those elements to an embossed heart background and added the Howdy Valentine sentiment, embellishing it with a fussy cut cowboy hat, from the 4 in 1 Cowboy Gear.

Here's hoping you're ready to celebrate tomorrow!

Love and Blessings

  Hi Everyone,

Have you finished making your Valentine's Day cards?  If not, here's a bit of hearts and flowers inspiration for you today!

I paired up the Flower Hearts (SUCH a C-U-T-E stamp!) with the sweet new Love and Blessings Valentine's Day Greeting.  The image was stamped, colored and die cut, with a bit of glitter glue added to the hearts.  It is a valentine after all :)

I made the background using the Candy Heart Background along with and embossed background of the same type, covering up the seam with some gems. (Boy do I have a lot of them in my stash!)

Have a happy day,

You Have a Special Place

 Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs has released the Special Place in My Heart Greeting for this Valentine's Day, and I decided to let this sweet sentiment shine on my card today.  I simply embossed the background and added some punched heart embellishments along with a matching ribbon, and called it done.

This was going to be a happy new year card, but my sister-in-law has a January birthday, so I thought this would be fitting with a happy birthday stamped inside.  It's pretty self-explanatory, the only thing you can't see from the photo is the heat embossing I did on each stamped piece.

Here are the stamps I used:

Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!

January Cards

 Hi Everyone,

My first card is a copy of last week's card.  My brother-in-law has a birthday this month, and he's a huge bird fan.  I figured a penguin is a cold weather bird and I'm loving the speech bubbles as of late, so a birthday card was born.

I used the inside of the Birthday Flower Circle for the greeting along with Percy Penguin again, and I hope he likes it even though he's a guy and the card has glitter and gems ;)

Some new stamps have been released at DRS Designs and I couldn't resist pairing up the new Howdy Valentine greeting with the adorable Cowboy Snowman.  Valentine's day may be all sunshine and flowers in some places, but in my part of the world it's definitely cold and snowy!

I added some wraphia, simply because it seemed rustic, and added some heart embellishments to keep with the valentine theme.

Thanks for stopping by the blog!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hi Everyone,

Being pressed for time this week, I wasn't able to make any new Valentines, so I thought this was the perfect chance to highlight a couple of my favorite cards from years past, made with DRS Designs stamps.

This card's post can be found here, but here are the links to the stamps:

Sweet Valentine

Hi Everyone,

I love the Flower Hearts image and wanted it to match the Have a Sweet Valentine's Greeting, so I embossed the background, and stamped the Flower Hearts, adding the fussy cut candy hearts.

I added a strip of stamped Scatterd Hearts behind the image and sentiment.

Happy Valentine's Day!

To the Moon

  Hi Everyone,

I was inspired by Nancy's card from a couple of weeks ago and decided to use the same Love You to the Moon Greeting for my card today.

I went with a literal interpretation of the darling greeting and stamped, and heat embossed some stars, stamped and fussy cut the earth, and used a circle punch to make a moon.  I attached those using some dimensional foam tape and added some punched hearts between the earth and moon, finishing it up with some glittery glue.

The exact stamps for the sky and earth can be found here:

Love Bug

  Hi Everyone,

I had a bunch of red and pink papers floating around my crafting table after making this card here, so I thought I'd continue with the Valentine theme for today's card.

I started out by stamping the Silhouette Branch and then gluing a bunch of punched hearts to make a little valentine shrub.  I die cut and added a mat and attached it to a die cut banner.

Trying to decide on a sentiment, I really liked the little hearts that are part of the Love Bug Hug Greeting, but the words didn't match the shrub.  I fixed it by stamping and fussy cutting the Love Bug

After assembling the card, I added two pink gems to finish it off.

Stamping hugs from me to you!

Hogs and Kisses

 Hi Everyone,

I'm on my way to celebrating the next big card making holiday with today's card.  I think we may be ready for it sooner rather than later, since my husband wanted to stop by the local chocolate shop this past weekend.  Not sure how I managed to resist the temptation, but I said after all the Christmas eating, we need to wait for Valentine's at least!

This "Cupig" is just a favorite stamp for making Valentines.  He's cute, easy to color and I love being able to add glitter to his little wings!  I attached him with some dimensional tape to some layered die cut circles and added the Hogs and Kisses Greeting to match.

The background was created using the Interlocking Hearts, and an embossing folder of lips to match the kisses portion of the sentiment.  A punched border and a row of gems finished it off.

If you need to get started on Valentine's cards, DRS Designs has all the stamps you need in the online store!

Happy Stamping!

Mini Cards

Hi Everyone,

January always gets me in the mood to organize.  During that initial rush of digging through craft supplies, I came across some tiny, 3" envelopes.  So, instead of making A2 sized simple cards, I made them mini, gift enclosure sized cards.

For the card on the left, I cut the card base maybe 1/16th smaller, so that it would fit in the envelope and embossed the background with hearts. I stamped the Cocoa and Marshmallows, fussy cut it and attached to to the background.  I decorated it using the Small Silhouette Heart and I used a portion of the Cheap Chocolate Eve Greeting on the front as well.

The Paper Coffee Cup was stamped along the fold of my card stock, and then fussy cut.  I stamped it couple of more times onto pink and fuchsia paper that I fussy cut and embellished using the Splatter and Vicki's Versatile Background stamps. I finished that using a fussy cut Candy Heart along with the lid.

Inside there was just enough room for a sentiment and wee bit of room to sign something personal.

Inside stamps are as follows:

Chocolate

Hi Everyone,

This card was inspired by some fancy chocolate I saw on the Web and a layout from my card here.  I figured if it worked for one card, it could work for me again.

I used a square punch, rounding off the corners before stamping and heat embossing the little chocolates with some gold powder. I layered them onto a stamped heart background, adding a die cut row of hearts.

The Cheap Chocolate Eve Greeting was chosen for the sentiment, and it was die cut and added to the card.

The background stamps I used are as follows and you can find many more Valentine stamps over at the DRS Designs store!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hi Everyone,

I was inspired by my design teammates past cards and decided to color up some Candy Hearts for the background on today's card.  They're easy and fun to color, so I simply added a matching embossed background (Darice) along with the new Double Line Happy Valentine's Day Greeting.  A few half pearls completed the look.

I couldn't resist making another chocolate card.  Last week I made bon bons on my card, and here is a regular old chocolate bar.  I'll take chocolate in any form!

I used my rectangle and square Spellbinders dies for my bar, and I wrapped it in foil and some pink paper that I stamped using Scatters Hearts.   For embellishment, I stamped and fussy cut a heart, and wrapped the bar in a piece of tulle.

I attached my candy bar to an embossed heart background (Darice) and used the new Love You More Chocolate Greeting that I divided into two parts, using some punches.

Thanks for visiting!  Be sure to stop on over at the DRS Designs store and see all of these stamps and more!

Candy & Wine

Hi Everyone,

I'm featuring the new Cheap Chocolate Eve Greeting on my Valentine card in today's post.  I love any kind of chocolate, so I decided to make some bon bons to match up with it.

I used a 1 1/4" circle punch and then sliced off the bottom portion to form the little truffle, and I did the same to the sentiment.  The cream colored white ones I dry embossed and the brown chocolate colored ones I left plain. I added a punched flower and little hearts to top them off.  The hearts were fussy cut from the Candy Heart Background.

All the pieces were attached to the pink background that I stamped using the Chocolate Chip Background and pink ink.  To finish it, I added a strip of lace to fancy it up!

This is just a quick birthday card I made for my sister in law's 60th birthday.  Unfortunately any large celebration had to be scrapped due to Covid, but my niece planned an intimate wine tasting dinner for her, and the extended family and friends sent in videos.  Of course I realized I forgot to take a picture of it until I was getting ready to send it, so ignore the weird background...lol.

Here are the stamps I used:

Pour Me Bottle and Glass

Bunch of Grapes

Magnificent Birthday Greeting

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Heartbeat

Hi Everyone,

I hope your holidays last year were great and that you're ready for the next great card making holiday, which is Valentine's Day!

DRS Designs has some fun new stamps, and a couple of my favorites are on the card below.  Heartbeat and Every Beat of My Heart Greeting are a total match, so I took inspiration from one of the cards I made last year, here.

I decided to make my die cut hearts into "people", by drawing hands and feet, and used the bow image from the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories stamp for the girl and boy. To finish the card, I added a little fussy cut conversation heart that had the xoxo on it from the new Candy Heart Background.

This card is all about the love of my life...Chocolate!  I mean, my husband first, but then definitely chocolate.

I decided to make the stamped Chocolate Chips white chocolate, so that they would stand out on the red heart and embossed them to make them shine.  I paired the heart up with the new Love You More Chocolate Greeting

Again, having leftover hearts from the first card, I fussy cut some as embellishments and added them to complete the card.

Hope your valentine stamping is off to a great start!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hi Everyone,

Is it too early for a valentine card?  Not when I've got some new stamps to preview.  Be sure to pop on over to the DRS Designs store to see all of the new stamps beginning December 15th!

Until then, this card features the new Candy Heart Background (1065G) stamp, which I stamped onto pink paper, coloring in the tiny hearts.  I added a die cut heart banner along with the new Double Line Happy Valentine's Day (1067G) for the greeting.

All that was left was to add Leonard the Cupig, because he is just beyond adorable! I simply fussy cut him after he was colored up and I attached him with some dimensional tape.

DRS Designs is running a sale right now, so stop over and order what you need to get stamping!

Happy Holidays!

Bee My Valentine

Hi Everyone,

I have my final valentine of the year to share with you today.  It's just a sweet, simple card that I hope will bring a smile to someone's face.

Since I knew it had a bee theme, I began by stamping my base using the Honeycomb Design stamp.  Using a stamp block with a grid on it, let me line up the images along the border with ease.

After that was done, I simply stamped the panel with my chosen images and colored them in, adding some glitter glue to the flowers and the bee.  Because well,  that's what you do on a valentine with cheerful images!

Here are the stamps I used on the main panel:

Valentines

  Hi Everyone,

Happy Groundhog's Day!  No card to celebrate this minor holiday, but I do have a couple of Valentines to share.

I've spoken about my love of puns on cards, so I went ahead and made a minor change on the new Lucky in Love greeting, to make it match my image on today's card.  I simply added a die cut letter d.

For the image, I stamped the Ducks Decoration, and then made a mask of the ducks too, so that I could stamp a field of Flower Hearts for them to frolic in.

The background paper was made with the faithful, never let me down Splatter Background stamp, along with the Small Silhouette Heart stamp in pink ink.  It's subtle, but I promise you they are there, and I finished the card by making some matching, gem filled flowers.

Inside, I used the new Valentine Drop Hearts for the message and a few more of those pink hearts.

While I made this card with Valentine's day in mind, since it's not red or pink, it could be used for your sweetheart any time of the year.

I colored up Jimbo and the Gang and attached it to a background that I made by inking up an embossing folder.  A row of die cut hearts and the I'm Wild About You Greeting were all I added to it.

The DRS Designs store has all of these stamps and other card making desires!  Just click on over here!

Have a great day!

Valentines

  Hi Everyone,

Working on some Valentine's day cards this past week is something that brought me and abundance of joy...Pink, red, hearts, new stamps...What's not to love?  If your in a funk, I highly recommend inking up some stamps and focusing in on those you love.

For the first card I stamped Jungle Jim the Elephant twice, colored and fussy cut them out.  I added a bow from 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories and made a girlfriend our of one, attaching it inside a die cut heart.  I cut apart the new I'm Wild About You Greeting and attached everything to and embossed background.  I stamped fussy cut the Small Silhouette Heart and added it to the bottom elephant and added a few random pearls for embellishment.

For this card, I created a background using the Silhouette Love Heart as a base to show off the die cut greeting, Valentine Drop Hearts.

Before attaching the greeting, I tied on some wrinkle ribbon and added some die cut hearts to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting the blog today!

Valentines

  Hi Everyone,

I love making Valentine cards each year.  They always make me smile due to the fact that they're usually fun, or punny or cute or all three!  I sure could use any and all lightheartedness during these times :)

I celebrated my 30th wedding anniversary last September, so I definitely think I'm lucky in love.  I'm usually the one who wins when playing cards too, so I paired the new sentiment up with a few card related stamps.

I embossed the background and made a border strip using the 4 Suite Vertical stamp and a punch. I stamped a fussy cut a couple of the 5 Cards and attached them using some dimensional foam tape.

This next card is so me.  I love pink.  I love puns.  I love bees.  I love sparkle!  Can I give a valentine to myself?

I started by stamping the background by using the Flower Hearts stamp.  I then stamped it again for the focal image, die cut and colored it in.  I knew I was going to pair it with the new Bee my Valentine Greeting, so that of course meant adding some bees, using the Happy Bee and Bitsy Bumble Bee stamps.

I finished it off by adding some glitter to the bee wings.  Be sure to stop by the new releases page to see all of the new stamps!

Time to get inky for Valentine's day!

As shown by the themes of my cards today, I'm ready for spring!  I say, bring on the sunshine, flowers and all things cheerful :)

My two holiday cards, showcase a couple of plaids that I made using background stamps from DRS Designs.

Here the framed panel was made using the Open Plaid, along with the Small Happy Valentine's Day Greeting.

My Easter card has a panel that was made using the Large Original Plaid in yellow ink.

The other stamps used are:

You'll want to check out the DRS Designs store right now, because there's a list of retiring stamps.  You don't want to miss out on anything that's been on your wish list!
