Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Happy Haunting

Hi Everyone!

It's good to be back and posting a crafty card today along with everyone else on the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff design team.

I'm still in Halloween mode, so here is a card made with an image and sentiment from the Creepy Crow set.
The diamond patterned paper matched my coloring in the night sky, so that was my only reason in using it.  Plus, I've decided that using non traditional Halloween colors are fun and unexpected.  The lace and rhinestones were added to give the card a vintage/creepy/elegant kind of flair.

Here is the entire set of images:

Thanks for stopping by today and don't miss out on visiting the team blogs this week.  Sadly we are saying goodbye to two of our teammates who are moving on to other things.  Melissa and Lisa,  you will be missed and I know that I will continue to be inspired by your blogs :)

We Are Back...

 Hi Everyone!

We are back home again from celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.  We were blessed to be able to go on a cruise of the Southern Caribbean and it sure was beautiful.  The waters were the prettiest aqua blue color that I have ever seen and it was very nice to be pampered by having my bed made twice a day.

I'm far behind in everything now that reality has set in, so my posts may be brief these next couple of weeks.  I will hopefully add some vacation photos here and there when I can.

Here was our ship...The Carnival Victory.  This is a view from our tram ride to Paradise Point in St. Thomas.

This is us in front of Trafalgar Falls in Dominica.

Just a couple photos as a small proof that we were there :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Witches Brew

Hey Friends!

I'm using this set Vintage Halloween Lables from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff again this week for our group post.  Two weeks in a row... I liked it that much ;)
I decided this label with the Witches Brew would be perfect for my card that would hold a couple of tea bags.

Here is the inside decorated with patterned paper and traditional stamps...

This is a close up of the front label, my coloring and the Stickles I added to the crystal ball for a little bling.  I was also able to size this image to fit my Nestabilites, so layering was a snap!

Here's the entire set:

Love this set for all the great Halloween images it has for cards, favors and home decor items!

Thanks for dropping by today and now it's time to visit Lindsay and the rest of the team today for all kinds of fabulous inspiration!

Get Spooked

Hi Everyone!

My card today features another great stamp from Scrolls Work.  Isn't this a fantastic Haunted House?
The background was stamped with these fabulous Spooky Eyes and it matched perfectly with this ribbon I nabbed from the sale bin. Score!
The torn paper is Co'ordinations, black on the outside and different colored centers, so you get this great effect just by tearing it.  Then I just layered the pieces along the bottom of my card.  I like the way the torn edges sort of look like scallops, which match the scalloped circle image.

So, is it too early to ask...Do you have your Halloween costume all picked out? Your never too old to dress up ;)

Thanks for visiting today!

Jolly Holiday

Hi Everyone!

This is a quick post of another Christmas card I made with some of my DRS Designs stamps.  I made a pocket card and the Wintertime Buddies image is a tag that pulls out.  I feel like I have been in a rut making regular A2 cards, so I thought I would change things up.  The pocket is embellished with my 4 in 1 Snowflake background stamp.
I used the fun Claustrophobic stamp for the front sentiment...

Here is the tag pulled out of the pocket, and I used Jolly Holiday for the inside sentiment.

The image was stamped on a white paper and simply colored with my Copic and Bic Mark Its. I then  paper pieced it on top of the cream colored tag.  That saved me from having to color the snowman and Santa bits in white ;)

There is still time to support our troops by sending cards to Operation Write Home through DRS DesignsClick here for details and how you can win some stamps from DRS Designs!

Thanks so much for visiting!

Grow Your Own Skeleton

Hi Everyone!

I have been in total card making mode that I forgot I could make other stuff...lol!  Well, today I bring you something other than a card using an image from a great Halloween set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, which is on sale at My Grafico!  Ever since she debuted the set Vintage Halloween Labels I have been itching to use it.

So today I bring you....Grow you own skeleton!  Cool, eh?  I love the way it floats in the mason jar...Good and creepy for Halloween decor.

The inspiration for this project came from the label itself...Skel-E-Grow...All I did was buy a plastic skeleton and jam him into a mason jar filled with water.  The skull actually had a piece of invisable thread attached to it for hanging, so I stuck that under the lid which is why it floats like that.  I used some Shimmerz spray on the black paper under the image on the tag and finished it off with a layered flower and rhinestone brad.

The top was decorated with a coordinating image from the set as well... I just noticed that I didn't age this image with brown distress ink, like I did with the the one above.  Hmmm. I think a fix may be in order here.
Here are all the labels in the set...

And one more shot of the jar.  Just because I love it and think it's cool ;)
It will have the perfect home on my hall table next to my mummy votive's I saved from last year.

Thanks for visiting and stop by Lindsay's blog and the rest of the design team too.  Lots of creative goodness to see and I know that you want to be in the know.  Don't forget everything is 30% off through September 17th!

Jolly Penguin

Hi Everyone!

My card today is jam packed with stamp-y goodness from DRS Designs. I used a combination of newly released holiday stamps, along with some older favorites to create this sweet card.

I made the patterned paper with the new Holly background stamp, by stamping in green and coloring the berries in red. I used the new Holly 3" Giga Oval because it matched the background paper I created and stamped Percy Penguin for my focal image. Isn't he cute? This was then cut out and layered using and oval Nestie.  The sentiment Jolly Holiday finished it off.

Happy Fall Y'All

Hi Everyone!
I hope you had a great weekend.  The weather made a turn around my area last week, and it really feels like fall!
So, with that mood in mind, I have a card that celebrates Autumn today.  Have you been enjoying the holiday stamps from Scrolls Work that I have been able to show you here on the blog?  They have really been fun to stamp with, so the pleasure has been mine.

The stamp on this card is Jim Bob the Scarecrow and I colored him with my pencils and a blender pen. Easy as can be.

I made sure and roughed up the edges of my paper layers to add to the rustic feel of the card.  The twine and buttons helped me achieve the overall look too.  Like the little leaf brad on the Happy Fall sentiment?

Have the leaves started turning colors where you live?  That is my favorite thing about fall.  The orange, red, yellow colors are so vibrant here beginning in October.  Just don't ask me how I feel about raking them up ;)

Thanks for visiting!

Spruced up Kitties

Hi Everyone!

Adorable.  That is the word when it comes to these Christmas Kats.  This stamp, along with the sentiment (Spruced Up) is from Scrolls Work, and I've been having the best time stamping with all my holiday stamps from there. This time of year is always the best for card making, don't you think?

I colored the kittens with pencils for a change and it gave a softer look to the image.
I was originally going to pair this sentiment with a Christmas tree stamp, but I think it works even better with these little cuties.

Here is a close up of the glossy effects I added to the ornament and the white embossing powder on the Santa hat.

Thanks for dropping by today and  visit Scrolls Work to see all their stamps for the holidays...I bet you see something you like ;)

A Haunting We Will Go...

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready for another Halloween card from me today?  This is from the set Creepy Crow by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff and I love this image with the scraggly tree...Very creepy and perfect for this time of year!

I was so excited to see the challenge this week at Cinema Saturday was The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the requirement was to use a tree...Yay!  It has been a long time since I have been able to participate and it's one of my favorite challenges.

To make this card, I masked off sky at an angle, sponged on brown ink to create the ground, then swapped it for the bottom and sponged on a moon and sky.

I had this traditional stamp with spooky eyes, so I created a background using that...
and a piece of digital paper from the set School Papers (See, not just for school projects!)  also from Lindsay's Shop.  After I completed the card, something seemed to be missing, and that's when I added the sentiment with another traditional stamp.  Yay, done.

Here is a total look at both of those sets:

Halloween Witch

Hey Everyone!

I was so thrilled to receive this fantastic witch stamp (her name is Monique...How posh is that?)  from Scrolls Work and the minute I stamped her, I knew she would make a fabulous card.  I love how elegant she looks riding on her broom...Such an original stamp, it's not something I've seen elsewhere.  Love!

I knew I couldn't make an ordinary orange and black Halloween card for her, so I went fancy schmancy instead :)  The patterned paper came like that, so I did nothing to make it look that good.  Pretty sneaky, huh?
The moon was sponged in yellow ink and I added some soft, subtle clouds with some grey chalk.
I tried to capture the fact that I embossed her as well.  The sentiment is from the stamp Holidays.

Thanks for flying by today and stop by Scrolls Work to check out Monique !

Noel

Hi Everyone!

I hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!  We got to spend time with family and friends so it was a good one for us :)

I don't like to post photos of other peoples children on the Net, so I don't have anything to show you from that day, but we went to a birthday party for our friend's son who turned 9.  We found out he REALLY dislikes Justin Beiber.  Why? I'm thinking maybe he doesn't like the songs, or his hair...Nope.  He says it's because Justin is distracting all the girls away from him!  That was the absolute BEST and most hilariously honest thing I have heard in a long time :) Probably made my weekend.

Here is one random photo from this weekend, courtesy of my niece...

This was taken at my sister-in-law's house :)

OK,on with the cards...

My post today uses one of the new Christmas stamps from DRS Designs.  I paired the Nativity Noel with the sentiment stamp God's Love Christmas and New Year Greeting and the background was created with the Starry background stamp.
The sentiment itself is longer, but I only used a portion of it for the front of my card.  I used a border punch and a ribbon to tie into my coloring on the main image.

Thanks for the visit today and stop by DRS Designs to see all the newest Christmas stamps!

The Challenge is Books

Hi Everyone!

Have you had a chance to participate in the "Books" challenge at the new Amber Ink Challenge blog???

My book club is starting up again this month, so I have had bookmarks on the brain. I made this one in a previous post.   Here are a couple more for the challenge :)

For this bookmark I used a piece of Snails and Pails iPaper and punched out the little cutie pie worms.  I then made the bookworm sentiment myself on the computer and finished it off with some dots and squiggles that I added free hand.  Doesn't get any easier that that.

For the second one, I used the little puffer fish from the set Can I Keep Him along with some matching iPaper.  I love the bright fun colors.

And I couldn't resist adding a corny pun...
It's ok, groan if you want :)  (Check out the little orange fish on the paper...LOVE!)

That's all for me today, if you live in the U.S.A, have a great long Labor Day weekend.  We have plans to squeeze out every last bit of summer fun that we can.

Other challenges this project is linked to are as follows:

Cute as a Button

Hi Everyone!

Today the design team for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is honoring one of our own.  Our teammate Tamara is having a baby boy, so today we are showering her with some cards made with stamps from Lindsay's store.  Isn't that a great idea?  Surprise Tamara!

I used the set Babies and Bows for my card today.  I love the color combo of blue and yellow for a baby boy.

Here is a closer look at the glossy effects I added to the buttons.  They are even better than real ones because they're easier to mail :)
The image panel and sentiment are up on pop dots and the patterned paper is from the Shabby Houndstooth collection, also found in Lindsay's shop.

Here is a peek at both collections:

Congrats again Tamara, I can't wait to see the baby photos!  For now, stop by and visit Lindsay and the design team blogs below for more baby card ideas!
