Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Love You

Hi Everyone,

I have a heart filled valentine to share on the blog today.  Nothing says Valentine's Day like lots of hearts, am I right?

I created my background paper using the Scattered Hearts stamp and red ink  I embellished it by coloring the small hearts and outlining the large ones with a pink Copic marker.  I used the new Small Hanging Hearts for a border and I stamped, layered and die cut the Loved You Yesterday Greeting.

To add a bit of pink color to the greeting I inked up the Small Silhouette Heart and stamped that 3 times along the side of the sentiment, and embellished my finished card with a row of half pearls.

Thanks for peeking in on the blog today!

Skipping Winter

Hi Everyone,

I really feel like winter skipped us this January here in Northeast Ohio.  The temperatures we in the 60's this weekend and I never wore anything heavier than a sweater when I was out and about. If this keeps up, everyone will want to spend winter in Cleveland Ohio...lol!

For today's card, I used the Woven Plaid stamp to create some plaid paper.  It's super easy to make when using multiple inks, and I paired it up with an embossed argyle background.

I stamped, die cut and colored the Raised Mitten Winter Greeting to match my papers, adding a bit of glitter glue on the snow.  I finished it off with a bow and a couple of embossed mittens for embellishment.

Hope you are staying warm and dry!

Blue January

Hi Everyone,

Looking at today's cards, it seems like I have the winter blues...lol!  Actually, the weather hasn't been too crazy when it comes to snow around here, but I sure could do with a bit more sunshine :)  I think that, even above the warmth is what I miss most during the winter.  Anyway, I'm full on celebrating the cold with my cards today.

I began with a grey base card and embossed it using the Snow background stamp.  I wanted to make sure they could be seen so I cut my background paper 1/2" smaller, so the edges would peek out more.  I stamped the top half of the paper using the Raised Mittens stamp and colored them in different blue hues, and added a piece of snowflake embossed card stock underneath. I covered up the seam with a piece of white lace and added a die cut snowflake for embellishment.

I also embossed the Winter Wording Square before die cutting and matting it for my card.  I tried to get the camera to pick up on the shine of the embossing in a close up, but I don't think I was too successful...

I'm also showing off this card today.  It goes with the winter theme and it was quick to whip up.  Again, I have a snowy embossed background and the Baby It's Cold Outside Greeting that I die cut and added a bit of light blue sponging too.  I flanked it with two of the Stretch the Round Button Snowmen, because they fit the requirement of being cute and easy to color!

I also added a few mini snowflakes that were festooned with glitter glue to finish it off.  Ha ha!  I almost like the word festooned as much as making this card :)

Thanks for peeking in today and keep smiling....February is just around the corner!

Snowy Days

Hi Everyone,

I'm featuring a winter card today with a cheerful greeting to hopefully brighten up both your day and mine.  As I sit here and type, I'm waiting to hear back from my furnace guy.  It's been acting funky since the day before Christmas, and yesterday it went out for a bit again.  Not good.  Especially in January where we have lots of frosty nights :)

I started with a maroon colored card base and stamped the Snowy Days Frosty Nights Greeting to match it.  I die cut it and layered it onto a couple of grey die cut snow flakes, so that they would stand out from the embossed snowflake background.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Medium Mr. Snowman stamp and then covered him in white glitter to add to the snowy look of the card.  A strip of black lace and some silver gems finished it off.

Sending you a warm smile!

Have an Amazing Day

Hi Everyone,

Now that we're a few days into the new year, I decided to take a break from the winter themed cards and move on to the next card making holiday...Valentine's Day!  I think it's great that there's a holiday smack dab in the bleak of winter to celebrate love.  Even if you don't have a sweetheart in your life, I think it's just as important to tell those friends and special someones how much they mean to you.

That's what today's card is for, just to wish someone, or anyone a wonderful day.  I used the Silhouette Love Heart stamp on my background, stamping a cascade of hearts down one side, in both red and pink ink, to mimic the look of those candy conversation hearts.  I added a die cut banner that I embellished with pink gems and stamped, colored and die cut my Amazing Valentine Greeting to match my card base and banner.

I hope you have plans to acknowledge some special people in your life this Valentine's day.  I personally think a handmade card alwaya makes a lasting impression,  For all the newest stamps that DRS Designs has to offer, just click here.

Hope your day is an amazing one!
