Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Delightful Surprises

Hi Everyone,

I'm finally showing off one of my pig cards made using the adorable Leonard Pig Behind the Bubble stamp from DRS Designs.  I love the look on his face, just peering out from behind the big bubble. It doesn't show up in the photo, but I fussy cut that part of Leonard, covered it in glossy accents and attached it with a dimensional dot. I was trying to simulate that distorted look you get from looking through something that isn't quite clear.

I dry embossed my background paper using a bubble embossing folder, and in keeping with the circle theme, I die cut my Delightful Surprises Greeting and covered it in Bubbles in a matching peach ink.

I added a strip of light blue paper and a couple of gems, just to anchor the image of Leonard at the bottom of the card. That seemed to do the trick when I was trying to balance out the card design, so no real fancy reason for that :)

Thanks and hope your day if full of delightful surprises!

The Latest Buzz

Hi Everyone,
Today's card was made in support of the challenge that DRS Designs is sponsoring at Love to Scrap. The challenge is named Holey Cardstock, and we are to use a hole on our card where stamping is to show through. Isn't that fun?
I decided to go with a bee theme, and I punched holes in my top layer of card stock that was dry embossed and distressed. That gave me the chance to ink up Bitsy Bumble Bee and the
Honeycomb Design stamp, both of which fit perfectly in the 1 1/4" holes.

I finished it off my making a banner for The Latest Buzz greeting, and I added a few resin bee embellishments from my stash of craft stuff :)

Thanks for dropping by and be sure to check out all of the challenge details, (along with some great cards made with DRS Designs stamps!) right here!

Have a great day!

With Sympathy

Hi Everyone,
The current challenge at the DRS Designs blog is to make a card with a pet. While this one doesn't have the actual pet on it, it's pet related so I thought that would be good enough serve as a reminder to come and join the challenge :)
I used a paw print embossing folder for my background and added a stamped border made from the Dog Paw background stamp.

I used the new Furry Friend Sympathy greeting and Dog Bone for my focal point and decided not to embellish it any further. Yes, for once I didn't think it needed any glitter or gems :)

If you need some more inspiration, check out the DT cards and the challenge right here! Hope you get a chance to play.

Sending you sunshine...

Hi Everyone,

If you've stopped by the DRS Designs blog recently, you would have seen some of the new stamps that are being released at DRS Designs. Did you see the card yesterday? Shelia showed off the two new pig stamps on a card and it's totally cute! If you didn't see it, go look now. I'll wait....

See? Adorable, right? I made my own pig cards, but they cannot follow that one, so I'm opting to show you a summer themed one instead :) Summer! Woo-hoo! Gosh, it feels like I've waited forever for it to arrive. I know it's not "officially" here, but it's finally warm in Ohio, so that's good enough for me.

While I don't live near the ocean, my Lake Erie has some very nice beaches, so I'm celebrating them. I made a little scene for my card today using some punches, dies and a wave embossing folder. I embellished my clouds and sand with some Sparkle N Soft, just to add some texture and shine to the finished card. The new stamp is the Sandcastle, which was stamped, colored and die cut.

Since I have a cling mounted version of the Sending You Sunshine greeting, I was able to curve it a bit to follow the curve of the die cut circle. I just wanted to mention that in case you opt for the wood mounted one, where doing that wouldn't be possible. It would just be a horizontal sentiment.

Thanks for dropping by and here's hoping you're swinging into summer!
