Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Popping By to Say Hi

Hi Everyone,

Well, I have to say that I really haven't been in a blogging kind of mood lately and for that I'm sorry.  We are trying to iron out vacation plans for this year, so I've really been distracted and not up for extra chatting.  I'm lucky that I've been able to keep up with my blog posting for my design team commitments. I've heard of losing your crafting mojo, but does anyone ever lose their blogging mojo?

Anyway, here is a card I made for a cousin's birthday a couple of weeks ago.  This groundhog was a freebie from Meljen's awhile back, so naturally I snagged it.  So cute.  I never really thought I would use it though, I make cards for just about every holiday, but I draw the line at Groundhog's Day!  Then I remembered Jeff's birthday was actually ON Groundhog's Day, so now I had the perfect excuse to color it up :)

I still think the papers were a little girlie in the end, but oh well.  The sentiment is from the set Say It Like it's 1959, and I did in fact, "pop it up" on pop dots.

Hopefully I will get a chance to do a little chatty post later this week, so that those of you that want to be caught up with me, can be :)

Until then, big cyber hugs to you!

Mulching Thank You

Hi Everyone!

Let me start off by sharing that there is a sale this weekend at MyGrafico.  That means that everything there, and at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is 40% off!

If you read my blog, you know that I mulched my yard this week.  I know it's late in the season, and I totally was going to blow it off for this year, but plans changed and we are throwing a party. (More on that at a later date.)  Sooooo, I needed to make my sad yard semi presentable.  As I was sweating and laboring with the shovel and wheel barrow, over walks my neighbor and says," I'll help you finish."  What? Noooooo! It is seriously one of the worst jobs in the world, but he insisted and I had no choice but to let him help.  He said, "You should look at yourself!  You look like you are going to die. If I don't help you now, I will have to help you by calling 911."  Nice.

So, inspired by the cute card that Cheryl made here, I made my own card as a thank you for them using the gal from Grow Green.  Cheryl said she wished she looked this cute when gardening, but in my mind, this IS how I look.  Not the dirty freak in mismatched clothes that I really am ;)

I used these awesome new papers from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff called Mod Summer for my background and paper piecing.  Love the fun colors and patterns! Remember they are currently on sale too.

Want more ideas for projects with these papers? Lindsay has a project on her blog too...check it out here!

Well, thanks for stopping by this weekend and hope you are enjoying some time in the sun!

Owl Be Your Friend

Hi Everyone,

Just a little while ago, Amber Ink hit a big milestone...1 year in business!  Woo-Hoo! I was so excited to participate in the big hop with all of the past and present Torchbearers, and even more excited when I won a couple of prizes along the way.

So, I made my picks, printed them out and got right down to it.

See?

This is from their Wild Animals with Heart line...I think they were released around Valentine's Day, but for some reason, owls always seem autumn-ish to me. I think the word is autumnal, but then I sound like Martha Stewart.  She's the only one I really hear say that word ;) Is it because I associate them with Halloween, or being wise, for like back to school stuff? Hmmm...Whatever, it's good to remind friends that you love them, anytime of year :)  The papers are from my stash, but Amber Ink has great iPapers too.  Stay tuned for future projects with that portion of my winnings.

And the webbing down the middle of my card is from Hambo Stamps.  They are doing a big sell off, so I got it for a steal.  Not sure if there is any left, but you can check that out at the store here.

That's all I really have to say.  I'm looking forward to my sister in law and family coming back from vacation.  My mother in law and I have been taking care of their cat.  Which is sick.  Which hasn't been eating. Which needs meds twice a day.  Which also needs insulin shots twice a day. Which is fed up with us.  Sigh.  I'm just happy he's still alive.  Friday can't come soon enough!

Challenges for this card:
Crafty Ho's-Anything Goes
2 Sisters-On the Farm (Barn Owl)
Aud Sentiments-Make Someone Smile
Do You Stack Up-Orange, Yellow, Brown
PaperCraft Star-Anything Goes
Creative Card Crew-Animal Antics

Amber Ink Birthday Bash Blog Hop

Hi Everyone!

I cannot believe an entire year has gone by.  I can still remember being giddy with excitement when the invitation arrived in my in box.  Would I be willing to carry the torch for the month of July for Amber Ink?  I thought for sure this email was meant for someone else.  ME?  Are you kidding me?  Of course I said yes, right after I got done doing a happy dance :)

What an honor it was to be the first, and when it was time to pass my torch, I was so thrilled that my blogging friend Tanis, said yes too.  I love seeing the long line of purple torchbearers that have come after us.  And purple was my favorite color, back when I had a favorite color, and things like that mattered in my life as a five year old.  Now I have another nostalgic reason to love it.

So, to celebrate the one year mark for Amber Ink, torchbearers past and present are lighting the way with some super duper birthday projects, all full up of Amber Ink goodness.

Now, you should have arrived from Ninni's blog, but if you didn't, go to Amber Inklings to start at the beginning.  Leave some comments along the way, and you could be a lucky winner of some goodies.

My card was made using the set Let's Communicate.  I colored up that oh so stylish girl with my Copics and then layered her on some bright party papers from my stash.  I added some bling and the cut out curve on the bottom of the card says, "Wishing you lots of everything wonderful."  I would be wonderful if it showed up better in the photo.

Ok, enough babble from me...Next up on the hop is Tanis!  She rocks everything she does, so hurry up and take a peek.

The entire list is below if you need it, and Happy Birthday AMBER INK!

Thanks for hopping!

Some Bunny New

Hi Everyone,

My friend recently had a baby, and even though I made a card for the shower, (I forgot to show it on the blog) I felt the need to make one for them now that she is here.

I used this new digi from Amber Ink's Love Bunny line named Bunny Family.  Isn't it sweet?  This card is being popped in the mail, so I kept it flat and embellishment free. (After sending out a bunch of Easter and spring cards this week, which need 2 stamps each for all the doo dads, my wallet needed a break!)  I did create the background paper myself using one of the design elements in the stamp set Mod Kitch Kitsch. (This set is also available as a digi too!) I stamped in Versafine brown and then randomly colored in the little boxes to match.

Those 5 little dots are a stamp too, but the sentiment I computer generated.

Thanks for visiting today and if you haven't been by Amber Ink lately, you don't know what you are missing!

Challenges:
Kaboodle Doodles-Cute and Cuddly
Make it Monday-Anything Goes
Nettie G's-Favorite Digi
Woodware-Anything Goes
Our Daily Bread-No Ribbon

Massive Valentine's Day Blog Hop

Hi Everyone and Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm so proud to be a part of this enormous Valentine's Day blog hop that is showcasing lots of crafty goodness, all in celebration of this day of love :)  What could be better than that, right?  I have a list of all the participants at the end of the post, but in the line up, you should have arrived from Sugar's blog.  If you didn't check the list below or begin at Taylor's blog so you don't miss out on any of the fun.  We have a huge amount of prizes that will be awarded to random commenter's, so be sure to leave some blog love along the way.  The list of sponsors and prizes is below as well, but let's move on to the main event.

My first card uses Amber Ink's Hostess with the Mostess set colored with Copic markers in tons of pink and red and some checked iPaper for the holiday.  The hearts are from a Stampin' Up set, and they fit perfectly on her tray.  Heart shaped sugar cookie anyone?

Monday I usually post something I made with a stamp from I Brake for Digis.  I didn't have an obvious Valentine image , but I thought this set of Jars would fit the bill, since one is filled cute hearts.

The twine, button, checked ribbon and Cosmo Cricket paper all seems to fit the kitchen theme. When shopping at I Brake for Digis, be sure to use the code SAVE10KARIN and you will save 10% on your entire order!

Thanks so much for making it to my blog on this fabulous hop that goes on through February 17th at 6:00 pm EST. That gives everyone a fair chance to make the rounds to all the blogs on the list.  Prizes will then be awarded to random commenter's from all the participating blogs on the hop.  Remember, the more comments you leave, the bigger your chance of winning!  Next up is Sunghee... Her blog is always worth the visit, what ever day it is!

You're So Fresh

*Second post of the day...Please scroll down*

Hi Everyone!

I'm here today to show off a fun Valentine's Day card that I made with the set I won at the AmberINK's Inkredible 21 Day Challenge.  I'm using the refrigerator image from the Mod Kitch Kitsch set I got to design along with Amber as my prize!  I know, right?  Fantastic prize!  I don't know of any other challenge where you can win something this unique and special.  The sentiment is from a companion set called Say it Like it's 1959, and because the saying is retro, I went shabby and vintage with my papers.  Adding a bit of lace and buttons to tie the theme together.

The speech bubble is from another award winning set named Let's Communicate which was designed by Amber and  Lynne.

Have you played along in this month's birthday challenge?  What are you waiting for?  Emily won last month and the details on her creative idea can be found here.  Go. See the all the fabulousness. Yes, that is a word.  Enter and maybe your stamping dreams will come true :)

Stay cool!

Popping By to say "Hi"!

Hi Everyone!

I'm so glad it's Friday today...I love the weekend, but it's going to be super cold in Cleveland. For once however, I don't care. Tomorrow night I have friends coming over for dinner and old movies, and I couldn't be happier about not going outside :)  Should we watch, "It Happened One Night, or The Philadelphia Story"?  Either way it's a win win;)

Well, a couple more cards before this week comes to an end.  I made another card using the new Mod Kitch Kitch set from Amber Ink.  I went plain and graphic with this card and I love the black and Turquoise color combo for this too.
The sentiment is from the companion set "Say it Like it's 1959"

This next card is in honor of Amber's Birthday...It's a big one, and they are celebrating at the Amber Ink Blog today... Woo-Hoo :)

I used the image of the group of presents from the Tis the Season set and made a Flip Flop card.

Here you can kind of see the the way it folds.  For instructions, just click here.

And a shot of the little cake I added to the inside.  It's from the Hostess with the Mostess set.

Once again, hope your birthday is the happiest of happys Amber.  And to all of you, my fab blog friends,  "Thanks for popping by to say hi"!

One more post today...

*This is my THIRD, yes THIRD post today...Scroll down to see the other loveliness from InStyle Stamps and Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.*

Hi Everyone,

Because I had so many other post commitments today, I really wanted to wait until tomorrow to post my AMBER INK project, but the excitement would not be contained!

Why? Well, today marks the release of the Mod Kitchen set of stamps that Amber so generously designed using my baby speck of an idea after I won the challenge at AmberINK's INKcredible 21 Day Challenge.  Seriously, she took what was a mere amoeba, germ, teeny tiny microbe of a million blatherings on my part,  and made made them into FANTASTIC sets of stamps! Yes, that is plural.  There is a set of great kitchy, kitchen items that match my favorite Hostess with the Mostess set, AND an awesome set of retro greetings, named Say it like it's 1959,  that pair up with these cutie appliances.  Do you like digi? Yes, they come in digi.  Do you like clear stamps? Yes, they come in clear too!   You MUST look now! Go ahead, I'll wait.

See why I'm excited? Ok, on to my first card.  I knew I wanted to make this the moment I saw the image of the cute little fan.  When I mentioned to Amber how much I loved it,  and wanted to pair it with the image of the mailbox from the set  Hope, Popcorn and Wine, she even included the the Fan Mail sentiment in the new Say it Like It's 1959!

TA-DA!

Here is a close up of the sentiment and the little envelopes that I made as embellishments.  They are just tiny rectangles topped with a tiny triangle and a bit of highlighting from a gray Copic marker.

So, I think this will be a swell Valentine for someone that I think highly of...Right now Amber and Pam (Yes, there is a team at Amber Ink) are pretty much at the top of my list; For many, many reasons too numerous to mention and way beyond these fabulous stamps.

Stop by the Amber Ink blog to read more, and get the list of the fantastic design team (aka Torch Bearers) who have also made grand creations with the new releases this month...

Aloha Everyone ;)

Chill Out

Second post for today....Please scroll down :)

Hi Everyone,

With things being so crazy around here all week, I'm finally getting the chance to post this card I made for my sister-in-law.  She has a milestone birthday this weekend, and I thought this would be an awesome card, without having to reference the actual number of her new decade ;)  What woman wants her number plastered on the front of a card, right?

Just click here if you want to know more about what is going on with the image of this darling little fridge...There are many things in the works behind the scenes, so be sure to check it out ;)  This lovely gal is from the set Hope, Popcorn and Wine by Amber Ink and the card came into being when I was cleaning my little stamping area.  That's when I came across some epoxy stickers from who knows where and the idea was born.  Happy accident? Divine intervention?  I will let you decide.  I love it when stuff works out just so...

Here is a close up...Perfect for that little fridge and the partying gal!

And the inside to mark her special day :)

Have you seen the new AmberINK's INKcredible 21 Day Challenge

A Little Encouragement

Hi Everyone,

I have a few things to share today.  First off, I want to thank you all for voting for my card in the first ever Amber Ink Holiday Blog hop.  My card came in 3rd and I won a prize! Yay :)  You can check out this post to see what all three of the girls won and check out the prize winning cards.  They are fantabulous!

The next exciting thing I have to share is, being one of the three winners,  I get to award a prize to you, a random commenter on my blog from the Tuesday hop!

The winner of a $10.00 gift certificate to the Amber Ink store is...

Result: #13

(If anyone knows how to get the random number thingy to copy and paste let me know. I have yet to figure that out.)

Woo hoo...Email me at karinwithani@att.net  with your email and I will make sure to get your info to the powers that be, so that you get your prize!

Now, on to number 3 on the blogging list...

Here is my little piece of encouragement to get you to enter the Amber Inkredible 21 Day Challenge this month.

The challenge is to make a wrap, bag, box...whatever!  Good one for this time of year when you are wrapping and bagging anyway, right?

There is an awesome prize for the winner.  Trust me, I won last month.  If I can, anyone can. But, you can't win if you don't enter ;)

I used a piece of iPaper called Spin Pin to decorate my little pencil box.  I chose to make it to fit four pencils, because those were the ones that matched the paper...

I also decided to make a cover for my little day planner that I use to jot down quick notes and ideas.  I know most people are keeping a digital calender of some sort now days, but I always like a paper back up too.

Here is the boring, generic before...

And the bright, happy after...

I love the colors on these little items, so I'm making duplicates as part of a stocking stuffer gift...Those little planners are only a buck at the dollar store!

Play along at the Amber Inkredible 21 Day Challenge

Finally my last bit today is, stop by the Amber Ink Blog and play along with Aloha Friday for fun!

Have a great day...

Other challenges this project is linked to are as follows-
Card Makin Mamas-Anything Goes
Charisma Cardz-Christmas Gift
Craft Your Passion-Anything Goes
Crafty Pad-Anything Goes
Creative Card Crew-Anything Goes
Fussy and Fancy-Anything but a Card
