Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Welcome Spring

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of cards to share that use some of the newer stamps released at DRS Designs.  This card was made with my niece in mind.  We're so happy because she just bought her first house, and I thought a welcome to home ownership card would be perfect to showcase the new Welcome Oval stamp. I stamped it and sprayed it with adhesive, covering the whole thing in iridescent glitter.  When it was dry, I added a black mat.

I dry embossed the top portion using a Darice folder that had the words "hello", and along the bottom I stamped the Mushroom House, coloring just one to match the green card base.  I then added a ribbon and attached the oval.

This card was made simply to celebrate Easter!  I used springtime colors of pink and green, and I stamped the pink background and white panel using one of my favorite flowers the
Dogwood Branch.  I wanted to feature the Decorated with Love Easter Greeting, so I stamped it and added some sponging when the die was still in place.  I liked the design on the above welcome stamp, so I stamped it, cut it in half and placed it behind the greeting.

I added the adorable Vincent Van Bunny that I colored and fussy cut.

Happy Easter and Happy Spring!

Easter Cards

Hi Everyone,

The Easter time crunch is upon me.  I've been hard at work hunting new side dish recipes, ironing my table cloths and napkins, and making place cards and favors for my table. It's left me scrambling in the card making department, so I chose not to over think my designs. For me, keeping things simple means keeping things from being ugly...I'm speaking purely for myself.  When I'm desperate and feeling bereft of creativity, that's when things go horribly wrong.  So I stuck with my tried and true layout.

One of the newest sentiment stamps was just released here at DRS Designs, Deco Easter Greetings.  It's a classic design, so I die cut that and paired it up with a bunny die cut that I embellished with some white ink. For ease, I dry embossed a portion of my background, adding some flowers from the Four Flower Background, that matched the above flowers. I colored those in using my Copic markers and added some lace.

I once again used and embossed background for my second card but this time I stamped the Lily Cross Easter Blessings greeting onto a photo frame.  I colored that up and stamped, fussy cut and colored the Big Bunny Face which I attached inside.

Before attaching the frame to the card, I added a strip of green that was stamped using the Jelly Bean Jumble Background.

Happy Spring!

Have a Blessed Day

Hi Everyone,

This Daffodil Frame stamp has been in the DRS Designs catalog a long time, but it's totally new to me.  I can't believe I've never stamped with it before...It's a gorgeous image for this time of year.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut it out.  Then I stamped it a second time, only cutting out and coloring up the butterfly.  I attached it to the image with some foam taped and bent up the wings to give it dimension.

For my background paper, I used the Silhouette Branch Background stamp and for the sentiment, the soon to be released 1 Line Blessed Day Greeting (245D).  I dry embossed the center panel and attached the image and greeting, but before I glued that into place, I added a strip of green paper behind. It was just an extra pop of color to play off the image, as well as something to anchor the sentiment and balance out the card design.

There are many more spring and Easter themed cards coming your way, so be sure to check in here on the blog everyday!

Sending you smiles,
Karin

Two Holidays

Hi Everyone,

The sun is shining here in my hometown today, and I can't wait for all my snow to melt!  I'm ready for spring and the holidays that go with this happy season of new life.  It was always my mom and grandmother's favorite time of year...All the green buds on the trees and the leaves from the bulbs poking out of the ground, remind me of hope that's always there.  We just have to look for it :)

With all of the shamrocks and clover featured on my St. Patrick's Day card, I'm sure some luck will be coming our way, right?

The background was made using green and kraft cardstock along with some green ink and these two stamps:
Shamrock Scroll
Silhouette Shamrock Field

I covered the seam between the two pieces using a scrap of ribbon and attached my main ... image that was colored, die cut and matted to match my background.  I added the Tiny St. Pat's Day as a greeting, using some punches to echo the center circle.

I made these invitations last year for my Easter dinner, but my refrigerator broke, flooded my kitchen and ruined my flooring.  Needless to say, I could no longer host, and we went out to eat.  All is now fixed and I'm back in hosting mode for this year, so I just needed one more invite to add to the group.

I created the background using the Easy Dot Background, Splatter Background and Lines O Plenty Background.  I stamped them using spring time ink colors like pink, yellow, blue and green.  I stamped and embossed the Simple Easter Bunny, fussy cutting them and adding them to their own die cut and dry embossed panels.

After stamping, die cutting and sponging green ink onto the Favorite Easter Peep Greeting, I attached it on top of a bit of washi tape that I added to the bottom of the card.  I was trying to minimize the bulk for mailing :)

Are you ready for spring?   Go ahead and click on over to the DRS Designs store to check out the new stamps that are sure to please!

Have a happy day!
