Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Hula Pig

Hi Everyone,

While this new Ain't Got That Swing greeting from DRS Designs would be super cute with any golfer image, I decided to make a summer card using one of my favorite stamps, Hula Pig!  If she doesn't have swing, I don't know who does, right?! LOL!

After choosing my piggy stamp, I started off by trying to make a little beach scene, which never comes naturally for me.  If the struggle is real for you too, my advice is to go small.  I stamped the pig and the Palm Tree and began coloring with my Copic markers.  I colored the pig first, and then began on the background, sand, water and sky, finishing up by coloring in the palm tree.  There was a blank spot in the sky, so I inked up and stamp the bird portion of the Seaside Dock stamp, and colored those in using a white gel pen, also using that the create some waves on the ocean.

I cut the scene out using my oval Spellbinders die, matted it and set it aside.  The background was made using the 4 in 1 Seashells and I also added one shell to the punched out greeting too. Since I couldn't stop adding the words "do-whop, do-whop" to the greeting in my head, I added an embossed musical border and layered it using a swirly punch to mimic the ocean waves.

Well, June is right around the corner...Here's to a swinging summer!

Follow Your Dreams

Hi Everyone,

It's that time of year again...Graduation time!  I've already received two announcements and party invitations, so I decided to get to work on a few cards.

DRS Designs has just released this new Follow Your Dreams Sign Post (137G) stamp which is perfect for the occasion of a graduation. I colored, die cut and matted it, adding it on top of an embossed background of grad caps.

I added a strip of green card stock to cover up the seam of the background and dove into my stash of brads for a few embellishments.  I stamped the Graduation Background, and fussy cut out a few and added those to my card as well.  The Congradulations stamp made for the perfect sentiment.

Don't forget!  This month is the Great Cling Stamp Give Away.... Every order of $20.00 or more, that is placed at the DRS Designs website, will be entered to win a prize package of 75 cling mounted stamps! What are you waiting for?

 Good luck :)

Picture Perfect

Hi Everyone,

The weather out my window looks very much like the one on my card.  Spring is in full swing in my little corner of the world and I'm happy to celebrate that with today's card share :)

I was working on using the new Picture Perfect Day greeting, so I chose the Country Window stamp as my focal image.  I stamped, die cut and colored it using my Copic markers. When I was done I set it aside and went to work on paper piecing the curtains.  I stamped the image again and colored only the curtains and then went over them using the Splatter Background stamp.  I then cut those out and adhered them in place.  The sentiment was cut apart and attached to the butterfly embossed background with some dimensional foam tape, and I added a tiny glitter butterfly just because I wanted to :)

My second card today is super easy and clean and simple.  I stamped and die cut the Sincerely Sympathy Thanks sentiment, highlighting it by sponging on some yellow ink.  For the background panel I stamped the Brush Pussy Willows and added a row of matching gems below the greeting.

And to make the pussy willows soft, like the ones in real life, I dabbed on some glue and added glittery flock to them.

  Good luck!

Our Thoughts are with You

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a card to share with you today that could be used for a couple of different reasons.  Definatiely it could be a sympathy card, but I could also see sending this to someone going through a  any type rough patch or serious illness. Many times I can find a get well soon type of card in the store, but that's not always appropriate.  I'm so glad I'm able to make my own with the help of DRS Designs ;)

I colored up the Cattails image, die cut and matted it using my oval dies.  I stamped the Our Thoughts are with You greeting and used some circle punches on it, setting it aside to work on the background.
I used the Splatter Background stamp and a muted yellow ink for a subtle look.  And for the top layer, I used the same stamp in the yellow and brown ink stamping the Silhouette Branch in avacado ink onto of the splatters.  I added a brown, punched border and then adhered it to the card.

Here's just a little peek at the new Cattail Hand Stamped By stamp that was recently released, Those cattails matched the front image so it's a must have for this card.  I colored it up and added a dab of glitter glue to those little dragon flies too.

Thank you for peeking in today!

Prayers and Blessings

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of monochromatic cards to share with you today. I seem to lean that way when making a sympathy card, trying to keep things simple and soothing.

I stamped and die cut the new Praying for Friends Sympathy Greeting and layered it onto a fancy die cut frame.  The background was embossed and for an embellishment, I stamped the Cross in a Cross and used my tag punches to create it, tying it on with some cream colored ribbon.

And here is my card made using the Dandelion Puff, Splatter Background, and Blessings stamp.

The color inspiration came from that one lone flower embellishment in my stash, and I wanted to use it up :)  I finished off the card with some glitter glue on the puff and a wrap of matching twine.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and check out all of the new stamps from DRS Designs right here!
