Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Thank you

 Hi Everyone,

I'm still working on my holiday thank you notes, and since the Blizzard of Thanks Greeting was still on my worktable from this card, I used it for this one as well.

I used the Interlocking Snow Background stamp on my blue base and stamped, colored and fussy cut Stretch the Round Button Snowman

Instead of just a using a regular die to cut the sentiment, I chose a speech bubble for my snowman image because it seemed to make the card a bit more fun.  A few random snowflakes were added to play off the word blizzard, and then I called it done.

Hope your new year is off to a great start!

Winter

Hi Everyone,

Today's super simple card is for when you're flat out of time and need to make something quick.  Which is me.  All the time during the holidays!

I stamped some of the Simple Pine Trees for the background and added a couple of die cut deer.  I made the new Hello Winter Greeting into a banner and attached it to the top, along with a few tiny snowflakes.

I told you it was simple.

I hope you got everything on your stamping wish list for the holidays!  If not, just buy it yourself right here!

Snowflakes

 Hi Everyone,

Here are my super quick projects that I've made this month.  I'm always running late or whipping something up last minute, so these are both crazy simple.

I needed a thank you card for my cousin who invited us over for dinner, and the Blizzard of Thanks is my go-to stamp this time of year.   I paired that up with the Snow Background, and added a punched snowflake and rounded corners and was able to write something personal inside in about 20 minutes...I think that included addressing the envelope too :)

My friend's son was performing in his 8th grade band concert, so I need a bag to hold his congratulatory gift card and sweets.  Now that my husband works from home and doesn't have to take a sack lunch, I have a bunch of brown bags in my pantry.  I used the same Snow Background stamp along with the Small Happy Holidays Greeting to transform the brown bag into something a bit more festive and I hope not too girly.  (Sorry for the ragged ribbon edges...I told you I was in a hurry!)

The countdown to the big day is definitely here and I'm feeling the squeeze...I hope you holiday prep is going smoothly!

Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful Season

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to make another card using the new Berries & Bow Christmas Decoration stamp, so I decided to match it up with the Beauty of the Season Christmas Greeting. I measured out my card and chose to use these oval die cuts, however I thought I would have to cancel my idea due to getting a smudge on my berries image.  I simply ended up coloring and fussy cutting the berries and was able to proceed.

An easy to mail flat card, I simply added an embossed snowflake background and a strip of printed ribbon.

Hope you are able to enjoy the beauty of the season!

Happy Holidays

  Hi Everyone,

I've used the new Leaping Reindeer stamp on my card share for today.  It's such a lovely image that evokes the traditional feelings of the Santa/Rudolph story of Christmas for me.  Of course, it just occurred to me now that I should have given him a red nose!  See?  Now I have an idea for the next card!

I ended up getting a smudge on my paper when coloring my deer, so I simply fussy cut him and attached him to a die cut and embossed square.  I also embossed the background with snowflakes and added a die cut tree, embellishing it with some gems.  Woo-boy do I have a lot of gems in my stash. I must have shopped a massive sale at some point in my life...lol.

After attaching the image panel, I added the Small Happy Holidays Greeting using my punches, along with a punched snowflake to finish it off.

Thanks for visiting today!

Hello Winter

  Hi Everyone,

With all preparation for Thanksgiving, starting to decorate for Christmas, trying to snag a few deals by shopping on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, today's card share had to be clean and simple.  Lucky for me, DRS Designs had the perfect new stamps to make that happen!

I used both the new Hello Winter Greeting (283E) and the Simple Pine Trees (285E), which I heat embossed with some glittery powder to give the simple black and white a little oomph.

I dry embossed only a portion of the card layer to leave room to stamp those trees and I attached the pennants to the greeting before attaching it to the card with some dimensional foam tape.

I don't think I've ever made a card that marks the arrival of the winter solstice, but I loved using these stamps!

Have you started on your holiday cards yet?

Happy Stamping!

Merriest Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Here are a couple of last-minute Christmas cards that I whipped up.  I used the same embossing folder for both, so the backgrounds were a snap.

I colored the World Globe, and knew I wanted to pair it up with the Merry Christmas to All sentiment, so I thought a Santa hat would be on brand and really bring on the holiday cheer.  I stamped and fussy cut two hats using one for the globe and another for an embellishment.  A few scattered gems finished it.

The hats came from these stamps:

For this card I used a piece of the holly paper I made for this card here, and added the Santa Face and the Merriest Wishes Greeting, along with a few gems in the snowflake centers.

Wishing you and yours the Merriest of Christmases!

Merry Christmas to All

Hi Everyone,

Using the new Merry Christmas to All sentiment from DRS Designs on my card, I decided to pair it up with the Santa with Birds Christmas Scene because he's depicted with "all" the little birdies.

I stamped and colored up the scene but ended up with a big smudge along the top.  Don't you hate when that happens?  Lucky for me my dies saved the day by letting me crop out the goof up. The scene is simply smaller and, in the end, fit the card well.   I also added some glitter glue to the fur on his clothes for a bit of holiday sparkle.

I layered it onto a background that was stamped using the Medium Filigree Snowflake and lined with a strip of embossed snowflake cardstock.  Finally, for embellishment I added the Small Cardinal that was stamped and fussy cut.

Happy Holidays!

Red and White Christmas

Hi Everyone,

Since I love a red wine and I love a white wine, I feel like this stamp was made for me!   I just don't love a sweet wine, the more tannin the better say I.  That's probably why my palate prefers tea without sweetener too. Enough about my beverage preferences and on to the card!

I kept the card monochromatic in keeping with the sentiment and used snowflakes on the background for that reason too.  Who can sing White Christmas without imaging flakes in the air?

Here are links to the stamps used on the card:

Mistletoe and Holly

Hi Everyone,

I'm loving the new wine themed holiday stamps from DRS Designs.  They're perfect if you have any oenophiles in your life!

Here I made a piece of background paper using an embossing folder that I inked up and sent though my machine.  I then colored in the places that weren't embossed using some markers and a bit of ink sponging.

I die cut the new Fine Wine Christmas Greeting and attached it to a large, die cut snowflake, finishing it off with a few fussy cut images of wine glasses and some holly.

Those stamps can be found here:

Peace On Earth

Hi Everyone,

I used some untraditional colors for today's holiday card.  I feel like the colors and patterned paper I made have a mid-century modern vibe :)

The background was embossed with large snowflakes, and the following stamps were used to make the strips:

The Small Peace On Earth and World Globe image are a couple of new stamps from DRS Designs.

Happy Holidays!

Christmas in July

Hi Everyone,

It's that time of year...Christmas in July!  Every year at this time I vow to start my holiday cardmaking, get all excited about the theme and promptly make a card.  And that's pretty much where it ends. Womp womp. :(  Maybe if my goal was two cards, instead of fifty, maybe then I could reach it by the end of the month.  In any case, here is my first offering.

I colored up the Snowy Birdhouse, die cut and matted it.  I layered it onto a background made using the Interlocking Snow Background stamp and added a few punched mini snowflakes.

For the greeting, I used some punches for the stamped Christmas From Our House Greeting and attached it with some dimensional tape.  A bit of glitter glue finished off the snowy look of the birdhouse and branches.

Have you made any holiday cards yet this year?  Check out the Christmas stamps from DRS Designs right here.

Winter cards

Hi Everyone,

Do you know someone with a winter birthday?  Well, I have just the stamp for you!

Here is the new Ice Day Birthday Greeting that I paired up with some embossed mittens, to match up with the gloved portion of the sentiment.  After adding some gems, I need another embellishment to balance out the card, so I used a reverse image stamp and fussy cut a couple of mittens from the Raised Mittens Skip Winter Greeting.

I already needed some thank you cards for holiday gifts I've received, so out came a favorite stamp, the Blizzard of Thanks Greeting!  Just add any manner of snowflakes, and you have a cute card :)  Here I used Interlocking Snow Background and Simply Snowman.

Stop on over at DRS Designs to take advantage of the sale happening right now!

Happy Stamping!

Merriest Wishes

  Hi Everyone,

I feel like I'm finally into the swing of things for this holiday season!  My house is decorated for Christmas, and we hosted friends for games and snacks on Saturday night.  During all this, holiday music has been playing in the background, and I'm sure the song Silver Bells had to have come up at least once in the rotation.

I stamped, colored and die cut the Bells Holly and Bow image for my card, and tried to color them to appear silver.  Taking inspiration from the colored image, I embossed a die cut piece of yellow cardstock and layered it onto a background that was stamped, and silver embossed using the Interlocking Snow Background.

For the greeting, I used the new Merriest Wishes Greeting, die cutting it and embellishing it with a bit

of sponging. To finish it off, I added a few punched holly leaves and berry gems.

If you're looking for a few stamping goodies for yourself, DRS Designs is running a customer appreciation sale just for you!

Happy Holidays!

Jesus is the Reason

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving last week, and that you're ready to get into the swing of things for Christmas!

Starting off the post with with the new Jesus is the Reason Greeting, which I stamped, die cut and embellished the star using a silver gel pen.  I paired it up with that sweet little country looking church from the group of Christmas Village stamps.  Also die cut, colored and embellished with a bit of glitter glue on the snow.

I attached it to a dry embossed background and added a few snowflakes for embellishment.

Remember then new Ugly Christmas Sweater Designer stamp that was in the recently released group of stamps?  Well, these tiny holiday images are from that set.  I used them without the sweater image along with my punches to create this simple card.  I stamped the new Christmas Star Merry Christmas and attached it to the bottom of the card, and then cut off the bottom with a scalloped die.

A bit of embellishment using a gold gel pen on the sentiment along with some twine finished off the card.

Season of Peace

Hi Everyone,

I love this new Small Season of Peace Greeting! To me, it just begged to be paired up with a snowy, winter scene.

I stamped, die cut and added some blue chalk around the edges of the Winter Trees, while spray adhesive and some glitter completed the look for that image.  I attached it to a background stamped using the Snow Background and added a dry embossed snowflake strip behind my die cut greeting.

I used my trusty bird punch to make a dove to complete the card.

I used the Small Season of Peace as the sentiment for my easy card as well.  It's been awhile since I bought myself a new holiday die, and I thought this one from Momenta would do the trick when I needed to make many cards in a hurry.  Any great sentiment from the DRS Designs store would work to complete the card!

Plaid Tree

Hi Everyone,

I decided to feature the recently released Plaid Fir Tree on my card today, and I began by stamping and fussy cutting 3 trees.  Once they were cut, I turned them over and stamped them on the opposite side, and then glued them together by adding glue down the center of the trees.

I attached my three dimensional tree to a die cut and plaid embossed panel, which was attached to a background made using the Woven Plaid Background stamp.

A die cut border embellished with enamel dots was added at the bottom and I finished the card with the new Tis the Season Greeting.

Here is a close up of the tree...

Ugly Christmas Sweater

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs has released lots of great holiday stamps this past weekend.  If you are behind in your holiday stamping,  (Me, me! I'm raising my hand along with you...) the stamps on my first card are sure to jump start your mojo.

This one features Ugly Christmas Sweater Designer.  It's a group of stamps that includes a sweater, some stitching lines along with 3 tiny images for the sweater!  I mean, it was the first thing I wanted to ink up when I opened my new stamps, because it looked like so much fun.  I'm not sure what this says about me, but I would wear this blue and red candy cane sweater unironically.  It's sooo cute!  Anyway, you can make yours any color and set comes with a string of lights and a gingerbread man too.

Also available is a matching Ugly Christmas Sweater Greeting, which was a must have to go with all the sweaters I'll be making.

Everything was layered onto a background made by sponging over a die cut snowflake, along with a snowflake border made using Interlocking Snow Background stamp.

A couple of punched snowflakes embellished with gems finished it off.

This card was a quick masculine birthday card I made for a friend.  No frills,  just some good old stamping, some Stickles to enhance the beer foam, and a few metal brads :)

The stamps used here are as follows:

Don't move on until you've clicked on over to see all the new stamps at DRS Designs!

It's almost the holiday season, so don't be caught unprepared :)

Have a great day!

A Little Wish

Hi Everyone,

As I type this post, the weather forecast for today is a steamy 92 degrees in these here parts.  So I thought I would take that opportunity to chill out and make another cold weather card.  Are you keeping count?  That's two, People!  I've made two holiday cards! I'm celebrating any small victory these days :)

It's not too fussy, flat, and therefore, easy to mail.  I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Potted Christmas Tree.  I added some glitter glue to the ornaments and set it aside to dry, before adding it to the card.  I chose to pair it with the Tree Shaped Christmas Greeting, simply because of the obvious shape.

I was going to leave the card panel as just the tree and greeting, but I struggle to keep things clean and simple, so I added the double sided tape covered in glitter on each side to complete the look.

This second handmade Christmas card is what is making me happy today...

Wishing you stamping joy too!

Flakey Friends

Hi Everyone,

I'm celebrating Christmas in July with this simple holiday card.  Goodness, do I like making Christmas cards when I'm not strangled by a long list of recipient names, and it's not mid December...lol!  Every year I vow to make a head start, and I guess this is my start this year.  Let's see if I can keep it going!

I began by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting Stretch the Round Button Snowman, along with the Flakey Friends Winter Greeting.

The background was made by stamping Interlocking Snow and Easy Dot Background in different purple inks to match the snowman, and I simply added a punched border and a die cut snowflake.  Easy Peasy!

Have you made any holiday cards this month?  If you need some inspiration, pop on over to DRS Designs and have a look around!

Thanks for stopping by & stay cool!
