Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Until they all come Home...

Hi Everyone,
My card share today is to remind you about the Operation Write Home card drive that DRS Designs sponsoring. The card collection runs through October 10th...Won't you consider donating a card, or two or more? There are prizes for donors and all the details can be found by clicking here.
I started by stamping the Until They All Come Home in Versamark and embossing with white powder. Then I took my watercolor brush and washed over it with red ink. After it was dry, (I helped it along with my heat gun!) I used the Splatter Background stamp to get some blue stamped on the card, and finished it by adding the Support Ribbon which I colored yellow and fussy cut.

Thanks for stopping by!

Good Witch/Bad Witch

Hi Everyone,

Have you had a chance to play along in our "That's Unexpected!" challenge yet, at DRS Designs? If not, here is a card to inspire you. I would say that pink is and unconventional color for a Halloween card :)

I couldn't help but think of the two witches from the Wizard of Oz when designing this card. The bad witch (I can't even remember her name!) was black, and Glenda the good witch was all pink, puffy and sparkly! I embossed the soon to be released Good Witch/Bad Witch stamp, punched them out and layered them onto a background created with the Splatter Background stamp and the Accent Bats.

Not wanting to forget the sparkle, I added a few rows of gems and pearls!

DRS Designs is also sponsoring the challenge at Chocolate, Coffee, Cards Challenge Blog this week, and it's an easy Anything Goes theme, so please join us there too!

Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you play in our challenge!

Christmas Fence

Hi Everyone,

Today's card was made in opposition of a birthday card I made a while back. A friend asked me to make a birthday card for his 82 year old aunt, and I proceeded with a bunch of layers, flowers, ribbon and gems. It was lovely, and he was pleased, but I quickly said, "If you're going to send it through the mail, you need a padded envelope and more than one stamp!"

So, since that's not realistic when sending 50 holiday cards, here is a simple, flat card that fits the one stamp criteria :) I stamped and die cut the Family and Friends Greeting, from DRS Designs, adding a bit of sponged ink and layered it on some sticker paper that was die cut and coated in a multi colored glitter named Victorian Christmas.

After I stamped and colored the Christmas Fence on on my background, I punched my corners and added a red layer before adhering everything to my card base.

Have you started on your Christmas cards yet? No time like the present! You can see what's new at DRS Designs by clicking right here!

Thinking of you warms my heart

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed the Labor Day weekend. I was able to spend some time with family and friends and while I'm sad to see summer come to a close, I am looking forward to the fall and winter holidays that close out the year.

And with that thought, DRS Designs is currently featuring Christmas and winter themed stamps in their store. If you haven't seen them yet, I urge you to check them out.

My card features one of my great weaknesses, Snowman stamps! Is this Heart Swag Snowman not adorable? I colored him in red and green to make this more of a Christmas themed card, but he would double as a sweet winter friendship card as well. Just color his hat and scarf blue :)

I paired him up with the Thinking of you warms my heart greeting which I divided up in two, using some circle punches. I layered them onto an embossed snow filled background and added some Stickles to his hat.

Have you seen the OWH banner on the side bar? DRS Designs is currently having a card drive to support the troops and we are hoping that you join us in supporting this worthy cause. There is a thank you prize, as well as a prize for sending in the most cards! You can read all the details here.

Thanks for stopping by!
