Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Love Ya Bunches

Hi Everyone!

It's sketch challenge time over at the My Grafico challenge blog, so get those My Grafico images dusted off and join us this week for a chance to win this great set of digi stamps. Remember, you must use My Grafico images to participate! Here is the sketch...

And my card to get you inspired! I made this card to fit in a business class envelope, so it's alot bigger than the cards I typically make.

I added rhinestones to the flowers that the birds are holding, but forgot to take an up close picure :( The set is from Cocoa Studio and it's called Springtime Birds. Link up your card at My Grafico today and all these cuties could be yours. Don't forget to check out the team blogs while you are there!

Thanks for stopping by...Love ya bunches for it!

Chocolate Bunny

Good Morning!

I had to get this stamp when I saw it. I try not to buy single use stamps, but this little chocolate bunny called my name.

I'm really glad I was a sucker, cuz look how cute it is! My best friend's son was selling Malley's Chocolate as a school fundraiser, so my nieces are each getting a big chocolate bunny and these cards.

Here is a close up...He is embossed but I don't know if it shows.

I used a 12 x 12 sheet of paper to make the cards. I left it at 12" long and folded up the bottom section one inch for the obvious reason in the photo.
I know they will think the chocolate and matching card are cute, but at 17 and 20 yrs old, it's the cash will make me the rock star!
I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to Aimes. I received the fabulous blog candy I won on her blog awhile back. It was a fabby package filled with stamps. papers, brads, and chipboard pieces....So generous and a great surprise since I wasn't sure when it would arrive. If you get the chance, stop by her blog and leave her some comment love. She has the blog I wish was mine, and the talent for making the cards I wish I could! You rock Dahling :)
Thanks for stopping by today, and for goodness sake, eat some chocolate...If you don't eat it at Easter, when can ya?

Egg Basket

Edit to add: Lindsay's stamps are available at Shop Handmade where the everyday special is spend $5 and recieve a free stamp. Click here for the Egg Basket.

Hi Everyone! This Monday morning the team from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is featuring "Anything but a Card," so are you up for some creativity?

Easter is just around the corner, so I decided to use the printable Egg Basket template and make a cute, little treat basket for Easter. This set of printables comes with all you see here; lots of options for all your holiday crafting needs.

This sweet little basket was the perfect size to hold one of my decoupage eggs. I don't have SCAL, so I simply printed and cut out the template by hand. So easy!

I used some rick rack and pearls, and embellished the basket so that it would look like a traditionally decorated Easter egg.
I added some more rick rack to the handle and secured it with a punched flower and brad on the side.

This would make a cute addition to any Easter brunch or dinner table! Stop by Lindsay's blog and the rest of the team and see what sweet ideas await you there!

Many thanks for the visit, and below are the challenges this project is linked to:

Hi Everyone!

Hi Bloggie Friends,

I just wanted to pop in and say my PC is acting goofy, and will not let me leave comments on blogs. It's not all blogs, I will hit one and think , ok I will be good to go now, but then no. I'm hoping it's a fluke and will be more normal this weekend :( So, if I've not visited your blog it's not because I don't care...I'm frustrated at the moment and perhaps those MAC people really do know something after all...lol!

Sorry I'm unable to spread the comment love, but until next time...Big huge internet hugs!

Great New Digis!

Hi Digi Lovers!

This is my first card using a digi image from Amber Ink. If you love digital images you should definitely check out her blog...They are brand new, and the site says that traditional stamps are in the works! Yay!

I totally love this shopping chick! I colored her dress with Copics and added the spots with a darker shade...Cool, huh? The card is kinda plain, but clean and simple is what I love. And, as usual, I combined the digi with traditional stamps, which is also something I love! Hope your day is fabulous! Thanks Amber, for this fab stamp from a fab line of stamps!

Happy Easter

Hi Everyone!

This weeks theme with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is Easter, and I sure am ready for sunshine and flowers! Spring was always my Mom and Grandma's favorite time of year. They would always comment on how they loved when the trees just started to have that hint of green.

I like spring too...In theory. But, (there's always a but) with spring comes that dirty word...Yard work! If I had a gardener, or I lived in a penthouse with a private rooftop deck, I would be a little more enthusiastic. Instead, I have deer who eat everything, moles digging tunnels and tearing up the lawn, bags and bags of pine cones and needles to pick up...Oh, yes, and the mulch. Yards and yards of mulch to spread. One of my top 5 most hated jobs. Sigh. As long as I look past that, spring is a great time of year! Lol! Well, enough babble...On to the Easter card!

I used an image from Fancy Flowers, and I just love it in shades of purple.

As usual, I used some traditional stamps to finish off the card and this has long been sent on its way to a happy recipient. Visit Lindsay and the rest of the team for more ideas!

Easter Favors

Hi Everyone!

Well, this is the week that the spring season gets under way for me. Lots always happens around this time of year.

First off, tonight is my book club meeting. We are discussing Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I enjoyed it very much, got sucked in to the world, but for some reason I didn't connect emotionally to the characters. Not sure what that says about me or the book. There is a lot in the book about the practice of foot binding. I wanted to Google it, to get some of my questions answered about this really painful and traumatic tradition, but I was afraid I might see pictures. Much too squeamish am I for that. I had a hard time not comparing it to Memoirs of a Geisha, simply because of the Asian theme I guess. I will be curious to see what the other ladies thought of it.

Second, it's St. Patty's day this week! Which really doesn't mean anything around here, except that we look forward to eating corned beef. LOL...That, and it's March Madness week...Ahhhhh!

Yes, I still think of myself as a theatre geek; so not into sports. However, for survival in my household, I have had to embrace it. I am the epitome of, "If you can't beat em, join em!" I even do my own bracket each year. One of these times I'm gonna win! It's not so bad. The hubby puts up with the Oscar shenanigans, so I can do the basketball thing. There are usually some hot wings in the festivities and that always helps too. I'm headed to a Tastefully Simple party as well one evening. A night with some ladies will give me fortitude to make it through. I will sneak in some stamping time too :)

While the B.ball is going on for weeks, there is my Dad's birthday next week (and his lady friends b-day is that week too. Gotta love shopping for gifts for people who have everything and don't need or want anything!) We are planning on going out for dinner with them...and no Hun, there won't be a TV there...LOL!

Oh yes, and then there is Easter. It's been at my house for a number of years, and here are some quick pics of my favors for the table this year. I took the photos right after I finished them, so sorry if the lighting is poor.
A close up. These are from the holiday tag set from Papertrey Ink. They have a set specifically for spring, but you know I'm all about using what you have. So, I just used ink in spring colors when I did the stamping.

The little round containers came from my local craft store and they are filled with M&M's. Not the most original idea, but a fairly quick make. And pretty cute if I do say so myself.

I probably should have written the name of the guest in the blank space and then done away with a place card...Oh well.

Thanks for stopping by today...Let the festivities begin!

The Envelope Please

Hi Everyone and Happy Monday!

The theme this week for the design team at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is "The Envelope Please". As you may have noticed, I'm totally grooving on the square cards lately. I've been making them like crazy! I love the look and the cute shape. Sometimes it's hip to be square! (Insert big, fat groan right here.)

This card was made using the Birds and Branches set and some fun paper from the clearance bin at my local craft store. It measures 4 1/4" X 4 1/4", which happens to be my favorite size. Why, you ask?

Well, the bottom line is...I am cheap. Really. If the card were larger, I would have to use a speciality envelope. And, a square card requires more postage because of its non-traditional size. So, with a 4 1/4" X 4 1/4" card, I can use an A2 envelope and not pay the extra.

Here is a trick I learned a few years ago. Hallmark (you know, the place where people who don't make cards shop?) sells 5" X 5" cards and they seal off an end section of an envelope, so that no extra postage is required. I thought, why can't we do that too?

Take a regular envelope and choose a cute mini punch.

Punch along the corner of the envelope, and cut a piece of matching card stock, 1 1/4" x 3 3/4".

Put some tape along the side of the card stock and insert in the envelope.

Voila! The card will then fit into the envelope without sliding around. Super easy. And did I mention cute?

As usual, thanks for the visit today. Hope you have a great start to the week and be sure to stop by and visit the rest of the team. If you would like a freebie, stop by Lindsay's blog today! With that said, I would like to officially welcome our newest members of the Lindsay team, Rhonda, Jessica and Christie! Yay!

Blog Hop

Hi and Happy Friday!

It's the second Friday of the month, so that means it's time for the customer blog hop at My Grafico! After checking my card out, stop by My Grafico Blog for the rest of the participants. Also, Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is still having a 30% off sale through Sunday! We have been having lots of sunshine recently and the snow is starting to melt, so I have been enjoying making spring themed cards.

This main image comes from the set Funky Forest by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. I always associated the images from this set with fall for some reason, but matching the tree image to my fun papers, it definitely works for spring. (There is a moose image included in the set, but other than that, it isn't like fall !)

It kinda reminds me of the cherry blossom trees in Washington DC. The "leaves" (circles) were paper pieced and the background papers were what I used on an earlier project here.

Thanks for hopping by and Happy Spring!

Savings Alert

Hi Everyone!

No card from me today. I had a busy day yesterday just trying to get some things accomplished while the weather was good. The thing I'm most excited about...I finally got one of our cars washed...LOL! I will not post how long it's been since the last scrubbing...Much too embarrassing :( I hang my head in shame. My uber clean ancestors would disown me if they knew. Somewhere along the way, the super duper cleanliness gene got lost or watered down when it came to me. I do not ad hear to the "cleanliness is next to Godliness", I come from the school of , "Eh, it's good enough." I know, I'll just blame it all on stamping! It is, after all, a huge time sucker.

So, with that said, I'm here with a little enabling. Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is having a sale! Today through Sunday, everything in her store at My Grafico is 30% off! If you have ever wanted to try your hand at digital stamps, now is the time. Or, if you love digi stamping, now is the time to stock up!

Lindsay has a lot to choose from, and many sets are versatile. Lots of bang for your buck. Along with stamps, she also has digital papers and cut files for those who are interested in that. I will let you in on another little piece of information too. If you go to Lindsay's Stamp Stuff, there is a St. Patrick's Day stamp FREEBIE there!

You might want to stop by her personal blog today. Lindsay and her Thursday design team always have great eye candy!

Be sure to stop by my blog tomorrow too...It's Blog Hop day at My Grafico, and I will be showing off a card I made with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff. Specifically an image from the set Funky Forest.

Don't miss the fun!

Blooming Friendship

Hi Everyone!

Here is the sketch for this weeks challenge at My Grafico! You have the chance to win the entire set of images that we are showcasing for you this week. It is named Blooming Friendship by Sanqunetti Designs and it is filled with sweet flower images, perfect for this time of year! Here is my card for some initial inspiration. I changed the color of the stamp to green before printing it out for this card.

And here is my close up shot of the rhinestones I added to the center of the flowers. The patterned paper had a slight aged look to it, so I added some ink to the edges of my focal image to give it an antique quality too.

Visit the My Grafic Blog for more card samples using the sketch and link up your card too!

Have a great day!

Challenges

Hi Crafty People!

This first card may be stretching things a bit, but I was trying to be creative and to use what I have in my stash. As you can see by the picture, the challenge at EBTKS is to use fabric on a card. Well, not being a sewing type person, I don't have any fabric beyond ribbon and felt. So, felt it is.
The fun and funky paper on this card is cut from a single piece that had different patterns on it, and the the little apple is my felt/fabric element.Pretty simple; I love the fun bright colors.
This card is the card that I made for the eyelet challenge last week on the CARDS Blog and to my surprise, it was chosen. It was the first time I have ever submitted anything, so yay for me! You can see it there if you want, or just look at it here.

In Stitches

Good morning all!
Today the theme for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff design team was " In Stitches". Since it was a sewing type theme, I chose to use an image from her set Doodle Flowers, which contains images that have always looked homespun and sewn to me. I also added some fake stitching on the panel behind the focal image too.

The background paper was created by me with a clear stamp and in the photo below, you can see the center of the flower up on a pop dot.

This has put me in the mood for spring for sure. If this image appeals to you, and you would like a chance at winning the entire set of Doodle Flowers, make sure you visit Cheryl's blog today to see her candy! Then visit Lindsay and the rest of the design team for their take on our theme this week...Our friend, Nettie, decided to step down from her design team duties to focus on her family, so this week we are welcoming Jessica as our newest member!

I Love Digi Challenge #2 - Sketch for Mum

Hello Everyone!

Are you ready for another challenge where you can showcase your digital stamping? This week our sponsor is Lexi's Doodles! Our last challenge at I Love Digi was a color challenge, so we are mixing it up and bringing you a sketch challenge this time out, created by Dawny P.

Here is the sketch...

And to help get the creative juices flowing, here is my card! What could be better for celebrating Mum than a sweet spring daffodil? This image came from the set Fancy Flowers by Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.

The base of my card is 5 1/4"square, decorated with traditional stamps. The main image was colored with Bic Mark its and 3 pearl accents finish it off. I was unsure if I should use this for my Mother-in-laws birthday or for Mothers day, so I left the sentiment off for now.

You can check the rest of the Design Team blogs below, or head straight to I Love Digi and link up your Sketch for Mum card for a chance at a prize from our sponsor.

Three Projects

Hi Everyone!

Wow, my post today contains three totally unrelated projects...I was laughing while I was uploading the photos...They are so random.

Anyway...This card was made for the challenge at Fussy and Fancy (Movie Challenge) and Cinema Saturday where the movie was Spiderman and the challenge was to incorporate acetate. Unfortunately, this just wouldn't photograph well...Ugh! The spider is made from acetate and I added a little red ink hoping that would make him more visible. I also went over the embossed web with some white craft ink to make it stand out. Practical Scrappers has a chalk/ink challenge, so this is linked there as well.

I think I will save this card for my hubby this Halloween. Not sure there would be an occasion that this would be appropriate for other than that-LOL!I made this bookmark with a stamp from My Grafico. Unfortunately this designer is no longer with them, so I have no link to provide. This is entered at House Mouse where the challenge this week is anything but a card. This was so simple to make and I love how it turned out. I can't wait to slip it into a card to someone!

This third card is made from an image by Chi Chi Memories which is a new designer at My Grafico. I'm not Irish, but I usually make a few St. Patty's cards just for fun each year, so this is one so far. This is card is entered into challenges at Squigglefly (fun borders) and The Pink Elephant (green)
I added a little glitter to the shamrock medallion on the bottom of the card. Isn't it cute?
Thanks for the visit today :)

Inspired by Nature

Hi Crafty Ones!

This weeks theme for the design team at Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is "Inspired by Nature". I was so excited, because I have been dying to show off what I recently made for my girl friends birthday! I LOVE how this turned out and I know it is due to the pretty flower image from the set Fancy Flowers.

I'm not sure what the color of this flower is in nature, but it works for me in purple!I think it would be beautiful in any color though! The layout is my own, and the dots in the background, along with the sentiment are a traditional stamp. I love how digital elements work seamlessly with what is already in my stash of supplies.
