Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Pigs

Hi Everyone,

The new challenge at DRS Designs starts today and the theme this week is Pigs.  DRS Designs has loads of really cute pig stamps, and the DT is featuring many on their inspiration cards today. I encourage you to pop over there and check them out.

I'm showing off Leonard the Pig Rose Offering and I couldn't resist using some googly eyes on him :)  They just make him look all the more eager to impress you with his bouquet of roses...lol.

I made the background using the new Single Rose stamp on the top and dry embossing the bottom.  The new Hogs & Kisses greeting was the perfect sentiment to pair up with him, and I even pulled out my neglected stash of brads to add some dimension to the lace border.

Thanks for checking in.  I know I haven't been to chatty in my posts.  Sometimes the real life stuff just takes up all of the energy.

Here's a bullet point list of some of my activities this month:

Firefly Glow in the Dark Mini Golf- (Big hit with my 7 year old friend)

Date night with the hubby to see Bell, Book and Candle at the Cleveland Playhouse (Production was good, big thumbs up on the costumes and set, the script however is pretty lame. )

Dinner at Chinato (Awesome food.  Had the Mussels with Saffron & Fennel, Mixed Salad and Tonnarelli.  All of which just made me wish I was in Italy!)

Our January book club discussion was held at Burntwood Tavern. (New place.  It was packed on a Thursday,so I have high hopes that it will be around for a while.  The building has been a black hole with places lasting less than a year in there as of late.)

AWFUL dining experience at The Oak Barrel (I literally left hungry.)

Had tea at Clemintine's.  (My cousins and I were going to try some place new, but I was still scarred from the above bad dining experience, I needed to go to a sure thing.)

Went to see Lincoln & Silver Linings Playbook (I have no idea how Daniel Day Lewis could lose in this Oscar race.  If you've heard he's good in this movie, he is.  Silver Linings Playbook was just ok for me.  I don't get the hype.)

We also had friends over one weekend, and went over another friends house for the football playoffs last weekend.  Lots of catching up with those we didn't see over the holidays :)

Well, what's coming up you ask?

I'm hosting my book club for February (The book is Pope Joan. I hafta hurry because I'm only 1/4 of the way through!)  I'm taking my aunt out shopping next week so that she can spend the gift cards she received at Christmas, and we're hooking up with some friends to go to a Cavs game.  Also, I'll be looking after my friends cat while he's laid up after having knee replacement surgery.  So, that puts you in the know about my life for the next 2 weeks :)

Thanks for dropping by!

Abby & Walter

Hi Everyone,

I'm here sharing a card made with the adorable digi named Abby and Walter's Birthday Wishes by Michelle Perkett. Isn't this image just crazy sweet?  I took my inspiration from the papers that I chose and colored the image with Copics to match.

Of course Sparkle N Sprinkle has oodles of glitter choices, so I knew that I would find matching colors for the sparkly strips.  Green Nugget (G1065) glitter and 1/2" Tear-iffic Tape (SAT04) are what I used there, and my die cut flower was made using Pink Spirit (SS108) Sparkle N Soft  and Gypsy Red (GM2005) Velvet Glitter.

If you like this image, you're going to want to check out the traditional rubber stamp set by the same name. It has more super cute images and sentiments that mix and match!  And as always, full card details can be found in my gallery here.

And just a reminder, to check out the challenge blog here.  There's still time to play along this month!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Blog Hop Time!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop, where we are featuring cards with "Fancy Folds".

If you came here by way of Anne you are in the right place.  If not, you will want to start at the beginning, so you don't miss out on anything.  As usual, leave a comment for each person and you will be in the running for prizes galore :)

My first card has a fold so fancy, it's not even a fold..lol!  It's called a Hinge Top card and I made it using the set Sew Fabulous (#461).

This photo shows how the top is attached with a brad and just swings up to reveal the empty spot underneath for your personal sentiment.

And a close up shot of the Silver Detail Embossing Powder (#EP257) and the Gypsy Red Velvet Glitter (#GM2005) that I used on the mat.

My second card share uses the new set Abby & Walter's Birthday (#476), and I made a Z-Fold card with an adorable sentiment I just love.  It doesn't even have to be a birthday card...Who couldn't use a little happiness on a bad day, right?

As always, you can find all the card details by visiting my Sparkle N Sprinkle card gallery.

Your next stop on the hop is April She always has a great technique to share and here's the list of participants, just in case there is a hitch along the way ;)

Good luck and Happy Hopping!

Love You More

Hi Everyone,

Are you in Valentine card making mode yet?  If not, hopefully today's card with lots of hearts, will inspire you to get stamping :)

I used the new Dotted Heart stamp from DRS Designs for my background, coloring in those little dots red using a marker and the Interlocking Heart background stamp was used to make that strip along the side.  The Sweet Offering Cutie Pie Kid is just darling paired with the Love You More greeting which is also from the newest release of stamps.

ince this seems like a Valentine for a boy, I kept it embellishment free.  Let me tell ya, that's always hard for me to do...lol.

Also, if you join us for our most recent "Buttons" challenge, you would be in the running to win yourself a prize :)  Link up right here!

Have a great day :)

Hogwash...

Hi Everyone,

DRS Designs is the sponsor this week over at the Craft Your Passion blog and the theme is "Gone Country".  So that to me meant, that I could ink up my darling little muddy pig stamp named Pig in a Puddle and my Hogwash Saying stamp.  It also meant that I beef up my dwindling birthday card stash :)

The backgrounds were made with the Interlocking Circles and Silhouette Branch stamps.

Thanks for peeking in and I hope that you can play along :)

Have a great day!

Happy Heart Day

Hi Everyone,

Sparkle N Sprinkle just released some new stamps this week and I was fortunate enough to be able to play with the new stamp set named Love Fairy (#483).

I embossed a sheet of Mirror Red cardstock ( #99525) and wrapped it in a bit of crochet lace. I stamped the fairy in Versamark (#99702) and embossed her using Red Apple Embossing Powder (#EP276)

After I die cut her, I used a craft knife and cut a slit in her hand so that I could fit the little Valentine in by its corner. I finished off by embellishing it with some flowers which I coated in Dimensional Glue (#539) and Waterscape Glitter (#G1008). If you want further details, stop by my Sparkle N Sprinkle card gallery.

Did you know that Sparkle N Sprinkle hosts a monthly challenge?  For January, it's a sketch challenge.  Here it is:

Good Luck :)

Love You More

Hi Everyone,

Well, it's the first full week of having things back to normal after the holidays for me and I have to admit, I'm grateful for the simple routine. Part of that routine is stamping cards, so I had great time working with the new stamp designs released this past Saturday.

I made my background using the Girl Swirl stamp and I colored up the new Heart Stem Rose using my Copic markers and added some sparkle by way of Stickles. What says Valentine's Day better than hearts and flowers, right? So, I stamped the Dotted Heart on pink card stock and fussy cut only the hearts out. To make them look like the conversation heart candies that are so popular, I stamped one word of the Love You More greeting on each heart and added them to the card base with pop dots.

The card seemed pretty feminine to me, so I decided some lace was in order. That, along with a bit of printed ribbon added a great bit of texture to the finished card.

If you didn't have time over the holidays to play, we have another day or so to go in our
"Torn Paper" challenge on the DRS Designs blog. I hope you can play along!

Have you made any Valentine's Day cards yet? No time like the present to get started and all of the new releases can be found right here!

Have a great day!

Piano Music

Hi Everyone,

I hope that everyone had a safe and happy time ringing in the new year.  I'm really excited to see what 2013 has in store for me on all fronts.  I'm not big on resolutions, but I have no reason to think that the next year won't be amazing :)  How's that for choosing to be optimistic on the second day of the year...lol!

There are lots of exciting things happening this year at Sparkle N Sprinkle, and I'm happy to be a part of the team. For starters, you can mark your calender for January 17th.  That's the date for the next blog hop, and it's all about fancy folds.

I tend to get in a rut myself, only making A2 cards, so this will be inspiration for me too.
So, ready for my card share?

I used the gorgeous stamp set named Music Labels #424 for this card.  Since the Grand Piano (3481-424C) is a lovely, bold solid stamp, I thought embossing it using Black Detail (EP171) embossing powder would really show off the simple beauty of it.  I framed it by die cutting Sticker Paper and coating it in Antiquities (EP266) embossing powder and heat setting it.  The background was stamped with the Treble Swirl (3413-424E) and some washi tape and a strip of 1/2" Tear-iffic Tape (SAT04) and Midnight Gold (G1080) glitter finished it off.
As always, check out the step by step instructions here.
Thanks for visiting!
