Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

It takes a lot of balls...

Hi Everyone,
One of my favorite groups of stamps that's offered at DRS Designs is their line of golf themed stamps. I use them to make cards for my dad on both his birthday and Father's day. Lots of funny sentiments to choose from, and this one that I'm showing off today is no exception...Take a look:

LOL! I stamped the Balls to Golf Greeting, die cut it and debossed it to make it look like a giant golf ball. Rascally Russell was stamped, colored with Copics and then fussy cut. I did the same with the Golf Bag and then just looped it around his arm. ( Doesn't he look spry ? Just the someone who who wold be pleased with himself for making such a wise crack! ) They were both adhered to a square die cut and I added some mini golf balls for embellishment.
Be sure to check out our current "Punchy" challenge! There's still time to play along :)
Have a great day!

Ultimate Remote

Hi Everyone,
My card today features a couple of stamps from DRS Designs that work perfectly together and are great for masculine cards. Just in time for Father's Day, retirement celebrations or really any birthday throughout the year.
While both the Ultimate Remote and Remote Control Greeting are large stamps, they are sized to perfection, as far as both fitting on the front of an A2 sized card. I stamped the background with the Argyle Background, added some twine, and I used an argyle embossing folder for the base behind the remote.

I embossed the remote with black embossing powder and fussy cut it, placing it next to the greeting. What guy wouldn't love those buttons on this remote?!

Shoot, I know a lot of moms that would want a remote like this too. Maybe just replace the power tool buttons with shoes & purses. Or a mani/pedi :) And the beer button with chocolate...lol!
Thanks for dropping in :) Don't forget about our "Circles" challenge this week!
Have a good one!

At the Beach with Sparkle N Sprinkle!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle At the Beach Blog Hop!  If you arrived here from
Cammy's blog you are in the right place.  If not, you'll want to start at the beginning so that you don't miss out on anything.  Be sure to leave a comment on each of the blogs, and that will ensure that you are in the running for lots of great prizes :)

My first card was made using the sea shells from the set Tropical (#158) and a sentiment from Beach Babes (#473).  I was inspired by all my visits to the beach as a child, when I always looked forward to combing the beach for shells.

I used the always fabulous Sticker Paper (#99558), punched some scallops and coated it in various shades of gorgeous embossing powders to simulate waves.  Each shell was also made with embossing powder &  1/2" Tear-ific tape coated in Sparkling Sands and the background was made using those same shells simply stamped in Versamark.  All of the specific embossing powder colors I used can be found here.

My second card was made using the super adorable Molly(#3677-473N) from the set
Beach Babes (#473). How cute is she?  I wish I looked this adorable in a bikini...lol! She was colored with Copic markers and I added a glittery flower made with Jasper Blue Velvet Glitter (#GM2012) and Celestial Glitter (#G1031). Again, specific details can be found right here.

I'm keeping it brief in an effort to move you along quickly to the fantastic blog of Brigita!

Thanks for hopping with me and have a great day!

Father's Day

Hi Everyone,
My card today features the sleepy little sea side scene named Seaside Dock, which is a great masculine stamp (from DRS Designs) for a Father's Day card. I colored it with my Copic markers, die cut it out and sponged on some blue ink around the edges.

I recently bought this lighthouse embossing folder specifically to use with this stamp. I sponged on some white ink to highlight it better and added the On Father's Day greeting which I stamped in Versamark before embossing it in white powder.

I bought a grab bag of crafty lace and ribbon scraps eons ago, and inside was this applique of a ship's wheel. I must have tried to toss it a half a dozen times, (deciding against it in the end and keeping it in my stash) and it worked out great for this card's theme. See, ya just never know when something will come in handy. At least this is what I tell my husband when he wants to purge odd bits of stuff :) And lastly I will mention that twine looks nautical and masculine, and the red color on the side, balanced out the sentiment and image.

Thanks for stopping by!
Karin

A Friend...

Hi Everyone,
My card today features a couple of stamps from the gorgeous set Shabby Chic Birdhouse (481) by Beccy Muir from Sparkle N Sprinkle. If you haven't seen it yet, it's so, so lovely! Not only does it contain a beauty of a birdhouse image, (I'll be showing off my card made with that at a later date) but it also has these pretty dogwood flowers as well as quotes and sentiments.
I pulled out some paper that I've literally had for years.  I remember loving it when I bought it, and I still do.  It feels good to use up some of my crafty stash!  For my focal image I stamped the dogwood twice and I put the quote in the center for a perfect fit, coloring it with my Copic markers.  I then layered it on a die cut made from Sticker Paper (99558) and Black Ice glitter (G1020).

The flower in the bottom corner was made using a scrap of  Sticker Paper (99558) and Crystal Ice (G1058) glitter. I love the striking look of black and white, don't you?
Before I go, I want to remind you that today starts a new challenge for the month of May!  You can find all the details on the Sparkle N Sprinkle Creative Challenges blog.  I hope you get a chance to play along!

Also, don't forget to mark you calender for May 9th & 10th...It's going to be a great blog hop features all things beach related!  Summer time here we come!
Have a great day :)
