Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Friendship

Hi Everyone,
Today's card uses a wonderful Swedish proverb that emphasises what a true friend means to our lives. Who can live with out those people who support you no matter what, and bring real happiness when sharing life's special moments, right? I have a handful of people who mean the world to me, and I can't wait to send them one of my cards with this quote.
This card was made with a yellow base and grey layer to frame my stamped panel. I stamped the Silhouette Background
Trees in yellow dye ink once, and then again before re-inking the stamp, achieving that light shadow. Then I used my stamp-a-ma-jig for the Friendship Double Divide greeting, which was inked in grey.

I added an embossed panel of dogwood flowers to the bottom, and I embellished the centers of the flowers with a dot of glitter glue. I finished it with a grey punched border and a row of half pearls.
Our current challenge at the DRS Designs blog is "So Sorry", and you can join us with your sympathy card right here!
Have a great day :)

Hearts, Flowers and Chocolate

Hi Everyone,
I'm currently in Valentine card mode right now, and I sure can use something bright and cheerful at the moment. Currently the snow is falling and the temperature is going to be well below freezing for at least the next week. So while the thermometer isn't red, we can at least celebrate the red hot color on our cards, right?
I made my patterned paper for today's card using the Interlocking Hearts Background stamp and added a border panel stamped with the Giant Chocolate Chip. The Rose Heart stamp was colored with Copics and die cut along with the Valentine's Hold for You Greeting. After all, hearts, flowers and chocolate are the holy trinity of Valentine items, right? However, personally I have to give chocolate a slight edge...lol!

Lastly I added a store bought crochet flower embellishment to the bottom corner.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and be sure to visit the DRS Designs store for many more Valentine themed stamps!

Sending You a Smile

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would share my last winter related card with you today. It's actually one of the thank you cards I made for a lovely gift I received this Christmas.

I used the Swirling Snowflakes background stamp to create the background paper, using a lavender to match my coloring on the Large Snowmama. I used my Copic markers for her, and then added some Stickles to the snowflakes on her hat.

Since she looks so warm & happy in her scarf, I added the Sending You a Smile greeting, which was punched out and embellished with a snowflake and lavender gem.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are feeling warm and toasty!

Feel Better Soon

Hi Everyone,
I've been hearing a lot of sniffling and sneezing from folks around here. I'm knocking on wood right now...I've been really healthy for a good long stretch and I'd like to keep it that way :)

However, if I was feeling a bit icky, the Leonard Sick Day Blues stamp with the funny Cured Yet? Greeting would cheer me right up!

I stamped my background papers first, using Easy Dot Background for the top part, and the Splatter Background stamp for the bottom. Making my papers first, lets me color my image to match. Doing it this way always works for me, since I have a limited color supply when it comes to my Copic markers :)

I found a ribbon bit that matched the card as well, and added a row of gems for the finishing touch.

I will also let this card serve as a reminder that our current challenge here at the blog is
Seeing Spots. We'd love it if you could join us!

Hoping your year is off to a happy, healthy start.

Get Well

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year!   Today's card is doing double duty, being made for the first challenge of this year over at the DRS Designs blog (The theme is spots & dots and the prize is some great stamps), and also for the challenge at the CRAFT Challenge blog where the theme is "Anything Goes", with a $10.00 voucher to the DRS Designs store being the prize there.

I hope you haven't caught a nasty bug over the holidays, but if  you have, then this card's for you :)

I used the following stamps which were die cut, fussy cut and added on top of an embossed background of dots :)

Actually, I could give this card to myself at the moment.  I sliced my finger pretty good making dinner on Christmas.  Ouch!  And it still hurts to type.  I wish I could say finger tips are over rated, but.... :)

Thanks for stopping and I hope to see you at the challenges!
