Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Goodbye Summer

Hi Everyone,

Even though my post is titled Goodbye Summer, it sure is hanging around my neck of the woods.  It's been in the 90's for the past few days, and they even cancelled school yesterday, due to extreme heat and humidity.  I don't mind a few extra hot days before the long days of winter, but I read that it's not good for fall leaf colors, and that is the real bummer for me.

I tried to bring in the spirit of fall on my card with the new greeting that I inked up on my multicolored ink pad.  It matched my card base and background that I created using the Silhouette Branch Background stamp.

I attached the sentiment with some dimensional foam taped and embellished it with a couple of die cut leaves and the stamped and colored up the October Pumpkin with Fall Leaves.

After making this card I realized that I didn't have a birthday card for my niece.  Oooops! However, DRS Designs came to the rescue with this Ohio Buckeye stamp.  I colored it up, adding some glitter to the little nut and die cut it.  I made a strip of patterned paper using the Splatter background stamp, which hasn't seen it rightful spot in my stamp folder in months.  It is now perpetually on my stamping table, because I use it constantly! All time favorite, for real! :)  And this was all made in the scarlet and grey, to celebrate her love of OSU.

A little simple, but I think the personalized aspect will be a hit :)

Thanks for stopping by!

The Pumpkin Patch

Hi Everyone,

Today I have the homeowner blues. Back in February of this year, I may have mentioned that my refrigerator broke, leaked and ruined my wood floors.  It was a long, messy haul getting new floors installed and a new fridge in place, but in the end everything looks lovely.  So imagine my horror when I came home to another leak in my kitchen and basement! Nooooooooooo......was my cry heard through the neighborhood.  I ran around like a mad woman, trying to find a shut off valve and I quickly called an emergency plumber (aka expensive plumber) who fixed what was broken regarding the plumbing, and promptly told me my dishwasher needs a new part. I have since found out the new part and fix will cost almost as much as a new one, so I will be hand washing dishes until I can get a new one installed.  Ah yes, home ownership!  A blessing and a curse ;)

Basically what I'm saying is, I need this sunny cheerful card as much as anyone today!  It features the new Pumpkin Patch stamp from DRS Designs, and it put me in a perfect mood for fall.  It was fun and easy to color and I simply die cut it and added a mat.

The background was dry embossed with fall words and I added the empty frame for embellishment.  It was a scrap item that had been sitting on my desk and finding a use for stuff like that makes me happy too.  To finish the card I added a green ribbon and die cut some sunflowers to play off the the stamped image.

Here's wishing you a sunny and happy day!

Halloween Cards

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of Halloween cards to share today that were made using the most recently released stamps from DRS Designs.  After I finished making this first one, I just thought I would see if I could use the other half of the card base paper to make a second card, so that's why I'm sharing both today.

The inspiration for the green and purple color combo on this card came from the witch theme.  In my world, witches always have green faces, and I think it's because The Wizard of Oz freaked me out so bad as a kid! (And don't get me started on those flying monkeys!)

The background was embossed with swirls and the patterned paper was made using green and purple ink, along with the Splatter and Starry background stamps.  I also added a punched border and wrapped it with some ribbon.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Broom and adhered that under the bow., adding the Wishing I was Witch Ya Greeting that was die cut and embellished with purple sponging.  I need a witch, so I stamped the Broomstick Stella Witch and used some round punches to create a little witch-y embellishment that was attached with some dimensional foam tape.

Here I used the new Trick or Treaters Last Stop stamp for the background.  I took inspiration from the first card and added a purple border up top that was stamped using the Accent Bats.  After stamping and matting the greeting, it seemed too stark white, so once again I used the Splatter stamp in purple and yellow ink to make it match the rest of the card.

I attached it to the card at and angle and then added some die cut spiders, simply to up the creep factor of my card.  It is a Halloween card after all :)

To check out all of these stamps and more, head on over to the DRS Designs store!
Have a great day!
