Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Hope

Hi Everyone,

This is the card I made for the Butterflies challenge at the DRS Designs blog.  The Hope Achieves sentiment is from the newly released stamps at DRS and after stamping it, I used the Three Butterflies stamp inked up in a pale pink for the background of the panel.

The Leaf Butterfly Spray is also a new stamp.  It was colored with Copic markers and the one butterfly and flower bud was attached with pop dots for dimension and interest.

I added some half pearls for embellishment because the card looked dainty to me.  Ah, spring!  I love the fresh looking colors associated with the season :)

I hope that you can join us in the Butterfly challenge this week at DRS Designs!

Were You a Winner?

Hi Everyone,

Did you participate in the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop?  If so, you might want to check the SNS blog to see if you were one of the lucky winners :)  Don't miss out on claiming your prize!

I just want to add a couple of personal bits as well.  My card was one of the top picks last week at Fashionable Stamping.  Thank you ladies for choosing my card. It's always an honor to have someone admire something that I've made.

And secondly, I've had a good run this year getting published.  I received the latest issue of Just Cards!
and my card is on page 14.  Gotta love happy mail :)

Ok, have a good weekend everyone and I will "see" you next week.

Sparkle N Sprinkle Flower Child Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop.  The design team is looking forward to sharing some great cards with you today.  As with any good blog hop, there are goodies up for grabs, so make sure you leave a comment on all the blogs for your chance at a prize!

Now, you should have arrived here from Lana's Blog, but if you didn't, just start back at the beginning at the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog.  That way you won't miss any of the fun :)

The theme for the hop is Flowers and Children, so I chose to ink up the baby themed set named Baby Baily (380) for my cards today.  While it is a boy themed set, I decided that it really is versatile. I used some pastel patterned paper, and played off the pink, lavender and green.  This could work for little girls too :)  The sweet rhyme was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink (99604) colored with Copic markers and I used Pear Embossing Powder (EP420) for the vertical stamped panel.

For this next card, I used my go to color combo for baby boy cards, yellow and blue.  I stamped the bib from the same set and embossed them with Ice Rink (EP408) embossing powder and created the background.  I then stamped the bib on yellow and fussy cut it and adhered it with a pop dot.  I used an Oval Nestabilities die and popped up the words Baby Boy as well.  With all the sheen from the embossing powder, a simple ribbon and button was all that I needed to complete the card.

Full card details for both can be found in my gallery at Sparkle N Sprinkle.

Alright, next up on the hop is April!  (Please click on link below to visit April.)  She is a master when it comes to techniques, so I know you will love what she's showing off.

Have a good one and the entire list is below, just in case you need it :)

Flower for a Friend

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to remind you that the Sparkle N Sprinkle blog hop is tomorrow.  The theme is Flower Child, so that means all things flowers and children.  Lots of variety to be found!

My card today uses the beautiful Lily (3219-402M) image from the set My Rose Garden (402), which is on sale this month! I colored it with Copic markers to match my papers and made a layered flower using a punch, die and the fabulous Sticker Paper (99558).

The glitters I used to make the layered flower are Carnation (G1028), Waterscape (G1108) and Purple Fusion (G1083). It’s the perfect shimmery embellishment :)  I don’t know about you, but I'm just thrilled that springtime is finally here and I love celebrating that with a card.

As always, full card details can be found my gallery at Sparkle and Sprinkle.  Thanks for stopping by and see you at the hop!

Hi Everyone,

Gosh, our weather has been divine this past week and our warm stretch is continuing here in Ohio.  I have major spring fever, but none the less, I'm here showing off a card made with stamps from the newest release  at DRS Designs.

These new stamps just might be a must have if you are a dog lover, or make cards for the dog lover in your life :) The new Wags the Dog stamp is just so cute! I stamped him 3 times on brown and beige card stock and fussy cut him, adding some shading with my Copic markers. The Sit Stay Greeting is one sentiment, but I inked up each phrase separately, punched them out and added one above each pup.

I used the Dog Paw Background stamp behind the sentiment, adding one paw print from it as embellishment on each portion of the phrase.

Have you played along in the challenges at DRS Designs?  They happen every Thursday, and the theme this week is CAS.  Here is my card for your inspiration:

It's also March Madness in our house, but there's no way I'm going to make a card celebrating that.  It's enough that our TV is tuned to the games for 4 straight days...lol!

Before I go, I want to make sure that I tell you that the challenge over at DRS is "Make a CAS Card," so it's a nice and easy one....Hope you can join us :)

Extending Sympathy

Hi Everyone,

I'm popping in today with a sympathy card made with a couple of the newest stamps from DRS Designs. I already know that this Dogwood Branch stamp is going to be a go to favorite of mine. It's simply beautiful, no matter what colors you choose to make the flowers :) I colored mine with Copics and added Stickles to the centers for a bit of embellishment.

I created my backgrounds using Interlocking Circles and Woven Plaid. The Interlocking Circles were stamped 3 times using, orange, green and yellow inks. The Extending Sympathy stamp is also from this newest release.

I hope you had a great weekend.  My husband has been battling a nasty cold that seems to be making the rounds with everyone in these parts.  My fingers are crossed that I don't catch it.  Even so, he was a good sport and took me out to dinner at Delmonico's on Saturday night.  The steak was delicious, but the service left much to be desired :(  When the entree arrived, and I wasn't done with my salad, they just took it away!  NEVER has that happened to me in a restaurant before.  Especially one with these kind of prices.  Very weird.  Very rude.

Thanks for dropping by the blog today and be sure to check out the DRS Designs store and all the newly released stamps.

Have a great day!

Sparkle N Sprinkle Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone,

Did you know that Sparkle N Sprinkle has a sketch challenge?  It begins on the first of every month and lasts the entire month.  So basically there's no pressure, just tons of time to make something!

I know I always say sketches aren't my thing, unless they are nice and easy ;)  I think this one falls into that category, so I decided to play along this month.

Here is the sketch:

And for my card I used the stampette stamp set Blossoms to Go (440S) along with a sentiment from A Rose Garden (402).  I love this sweet sentiment. It's one that I don't have in any of my other stamp sets, and it works for any occasion.

I made my background papers and colored the center flower to match. After cutting out the image with my square Nestabilities die, I covered it in Brushable Glue (540) and Crystal Ice glitter(G1058).  I love the way that it's semi transparent, so that the image still comes though the soft shimmer.

To check out all the challenge details and see the cards from the design team, just click here

Hope you can join in the fun :)

Happy Easter

Hi Everyone,

I have a bright Easter card coming your way today made with stamps from DRS Designs.  I don't think a crocus flower comes in red, but a red, yellow and green color combo always looks so fresh and happy to me, that I feel OK about my artistic license :)

Not sure how well it shows up, the my red base was stamped using the Woven Plaid stamp and red ink, for a tone on tone look. I used the Easy Dot background to make my custom paper. I LOVE this stamp!  It's not new to the DRS catalog, but it's totally one of my favorites. It's so forgiving and you can't make a mistake when creating your custom paper. There's no lining anything up, the dots are random and it works. Every. Time.

The middle strip was made with the Open Plaid stamped in green and those Spring Crocus in the Tub are just so sweet!  And like I do many times, I stamped and cut apart the One Line Happy Easter sentiment to make it fit my card.

Thanks for peeking in here.  Hopefully these types of flowers will be appearing in our yards very soon!

Heartfelt Condolances

Hi Everyone,

Well, it's been an emotional week here for me, so that's why posts have been few and far between. I received word that my grandma in Germany passed away.  My dad was gone on vacation, and between trying to get word to him, getting him home and making arrangements, well, you get the idea.  Also, today is the anniversary of my mom's passing, so my heart is definately heavy as I write my post for today. However,  I do know that God is good, and everything will be well again soon. If I haven't been to see you lately in blog land, know that I will be around eventually.

DRS Designs is sponsoring the sketch challenge over at the Card Patterns blog, so I thought I would show off my card I made in support of that.  I hope you can play along for your chance at a great prize :)

Here is the sketch:
And this is my card.  I flipped the sketch and used the following stamps:

Since these cards can be difficult to make, especially when your heart is hurting, I like having a few of these at the ready.

If you are feeling especially sketchy, the challenge at the DRS Designs blog this week is a sketch as well.

Here it is:
