Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Red, White and Blue

Hi Everyone,

Since we are now officially into the summer season, I thought I would share one of the patriotic cards that I made recently with my stamps from DRS Designs. The Fourth of July isn't too far away, and I adore all things red, white and blue at this time of year. I become absolutely giddy looking at the housewares department in the stores and immediately begin planning a barbeque in my head :)

Anyway, here is my card in honor of our great American holiday.

It's a simple layout beginning with a Kraft card base. I stamped the white cardstock layer with the Interlocking Star background stamp in navy ink, and added strips of double sided tape to the bottom, coating them in red, white and silver glitter. I then wrapped it with twine and added a die cut star coated in white glitter.

The As a Nation Greeting was simply stamped, die cut and added to the card with a couple of pop dots.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope your summer plans are in full swing!

Bloom

Hi Everyone,

I have a feminine looking card to share with you today.  It's made with the Spring Floral (490) stamp set from Sparkle N Sprinkle, which has become a new favorite of mine.  Flowers of any kind are so versatile and I love them for cards for the females in my life.

Here I used the lovely hydrangea stamp, coloring the image with Copic markers, fussy cutting it and layering it onto some die cuts.  The papers I chose have a vintage flair and I played off the butterflies in the background by adding some of my own.  Sticker Paper (99558) coated inPeruvian Lily Velvet Glitter(GM2014) is what I used to create these simmering beauties.

I also added a bit of Sparkling Snow Glitter (G1003) to the flower itself  using Dimensional Glue (539). Keeping with the vintage look, I layered on a piece of lace and added a ribbon bit to the tag sentiment at the bottom.  Other than that, it's flat and post office friendly!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful rest of the week!

Eat, Drink and be Merry

Hi Everyone,

The new challenge us under way at the DRS Designs blog and this weeks theme is "Eat, Drink and be Merry!"  One of the best motto's in life, if you ask me :)

I inked up the Picnic Basket stamp for today's card.  It's a super image for this time of year, and frankly, I try to dine outside as much as possible when the weather permits. I love those little ants in the image...How come they aren't that cute in real life?!

I colored the blanket to match my stamped Checkerboard Background and the Better with Age birthday greeting paired with it to complete the card.

Thanks for taking the time to look, have a great week!

Happy Father's Day!

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would share a card today in honor of the holiday.  I made it using the new
My Anchor set from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  It has great nautical elements, as well as a sentiment honoring dear old dad :)

Here is a peek at the whole set:

I made the background using Kraft card stock, the compass stamp and Clear Detail embossing powder.  I think the effect is simply striking!

I stamped the rope detail to the border and embossed that as well using Silver Pearl embossing powder and finished off the bottom with Sticker Paper coated in Liberty glitter.

Happy Father's Day one and all :)

Frogs in your Underpants

Hi Everyone,

I was in a lighthearted mood and decided to ink up the Frog in Your Pants greeting from
DRS Designs for my card today. If you know someone who is down in the dumps, this is sure to bring a smile to their face...lol!

The background on the card was made with the Double Chevron Card Edger stamp and the Tiny Frog simply stamping both in green ink, and separating them with a piece of ribbon. I colored and fussy cut Frog Boy Cutie Pie Kid and attached him with some dimensional dots.

I felt I needed some embellishment along the bottom, so I chose to use that same Tiny Frog stamp again, and I punched them out for the finishing touch.

It's all about animals and critters at the DRS Designs blog right now, so I hope you'll join us for our current challenge, Go Fish!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fishing Rules

Hi Everyone,

There is a new challenge up at the DRS Designs blog today.  If you played along last week, be sure to check and see if you were the winner and join us for this weeks theme, "Go Fish!"

Such a fun theme for summer or the upcoming Father's Day holiday :)

Here is my card:

I used Vicki's Versatile Background on my base in green ink.  You can only see a bit peeking around the layers.  Then I used the Can of Worms stamp and created the background paper.  I think this normally would have been considers a focal stamp, but to get out of the box a bit, I used it this way instead.

Next I stamped and embossed the Fishing Rules stamp, fussy cutting it and attaching it with pop dots.

The fisherman would definitely find this funny :)

I hope that you can play along with us this week!  Good Luck!

Friendship

Hi Everyone,

I can hardly believe that it's already June,  and we're moving closer to summer time everyday!  While we are still enjoying the last bits of spring, I thought I would share a card made with the gorgeous stamp set aptly named, Spring Floral (490) by Beccy Muir, available at Sparkle N Sprinkle.

This lovely magnolia stamp needed just a bit of shading on the petals.  After coloring in the center and the leaves, I used Copic marker in Cool Grey (C3) to outline it.  This really makes the image pop!  Also, I had to add a bit of bling to it, so I used my Dimensional Glue (539) and a bit of Evening Glow glitter. (G1086)

I used a a couple of strips of 1/4" Tear-iffic Tape (SAT01) on the center strip and coated it in Citron Green glitter (G1087) for some added sparkle.  I figured as long as I had my roll of tape out, using it to hold my card together, why not use it for embellishment too :)
Thanks for visiting the blog today...Enjoy!
