Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

With Sympathy

Hi Everyone,

Since my camera isn't cooperating with me today, I cannot upload the new quilt card I made a couple of days ago...So, I'm sharing a sympathy card I made and sent out recently. Sadly there is always a need for these cards.

In a hurry, I used my go to layout, and dry embossed the bottom portion of my white card stock. After choosing an ink color, I stamped the Silhouette Background Trees once and then again before re inking the stamp. I did that across the card and stamped the With Sympathy in black ink.

I decide to add some of the same green ink with a sponge to bring out the embossing on the bottom, and separated the top and bottom with a punched border and soft ribbon. I finished it off with a few matching gems.

Thanks for dropping by, and my fingers are crossed that I can get my new card uploaded for my post next Tuesday!

Friendship Quilt

Hi Everyone,

I'm pleased to show you my most recent card made with using the Designer Quilt Square from DRS Designs. I started by stamping some squares on white paper and then coloring them with a red & pink Copic marker. After fussy cutting them, I decided they looked a bit plain, so I embellished them with stripes and dots.

Wanting to pair it with the new Good Friend Warm Quilt Greeting, I chose an embossed heart background and decided I needed a few extra hearts. I colored and cut out the hearts from the
Heart Swag Snowman stamp, and added them to the centers of my quilt squares.

The greeting was die cut and attached with dimensional foam dots and I added lace, twine and a red flower shaped gem to finish it off.

Thanksgiving

Hi Everyone,

My card today shows off a couple of new stamps that were recently released at DRS Designs! They celebrate the fall season as well as one of my favorite holidays...Thanksgiving :)

I began by coloring my Indian Corn using my watercolor brush. Deciding to not use my Copic markers was definitely out of my comfort zone, but it allowed me to give the corn a softer look. I was pleased with how easy it was to do. While I was waiting for my image to dry, I stamped the Giving Thanks Greeting on kraft paper, die cut and matted it. I stamped a bit of the Woven Plaid in orange & brown, because it reminds me of a Thanksgiving tablecloth.

I embossed a leaf background panel and then began assembling my card, tying on a ribbon to match my corn, adding the punched photo corners, and finally attaching my fussy cut corn.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Leaves are Falling...

Hi Everyone,

I know that the calender tells us when fall officially arrives, but for me, it's always when the rakes come out! Luckily my work load is a bit lighter this year, due to the fact that I had two large trees cut down in my front yard this summer. Yay! I'm looking forward to admiring the beauty of the fall colors, while not dreading the yard work :)

For today's card I made a background using the Open Leaf stamp in multiple fall colors. I knew I wanted an orange base, so I colored the Large Scarecrow keeping that color in mind. I stamped the Autumn is Calling Greeting in navy blue to match the matting of my background paper, and added some sponging and a few leaf brads.

I finished the card it by fussy cutting my scarecrow and attaching it.

Have a great day!
