Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Butterfly Kisses

Hi Everyone,

Today's card features the new Butterfly Kisses Greeting, which was released this past weekend at the DRS Designs store.  It's a lovely sentiment and coordinates with any number of butterfly stamps in the current catalog.

While it was hard to choose a butterfly from all of the stamps available, I decided to used the Large Open Silhouette Butterfly and the emboss resist technique. I stamped the greeting in a deep purple and then used the butterfly stamp, Versamark ink and a white embossing powder, heat setting it with my heat gun.

After it cooled, I chose two lighter colors of purple ink and sponged right on top of all of my stamping, adding a few die cut butterflies to give the card more dimension.

I finished it by layering the stamped panel onto some purple card stock and added the gems for embellishment.

Thanks for visiting the blog and be sure to check out the new stamp release here!

Dandelion Pinwheel

Hi Everyone,

Years ago I made a card with a pinwheel on it using my punches and patterned paper.  I came across it in my stash, and I decided to make one this week, only this time I used my stamps instead.

I chose an orange and yellow color combo, stamping the Dandelion Puff once in orange ink, and again in yellow for the shadow.  I punched them out using a 1 1/4" square and layered them onto a 1 3/8" orange square of card stock..  After creating the pinwheel circle, there was a hole in the center, so I covered that up with a punched flower and rhinestone brad.

I used my Stamp-A-Majig and stamped the Rest Best of  Life Birthday Greeting along the side of the background paper and again stamped the dandelion multiple times on top of it.

I added a couple of punched corner embellishments and called it done :)

Thanks for visiting us today and be sure to check out our challenge here at the blog each and every Thursday!

Poppy Birthday

Hi Everyone,

I took my little 9 year old friend to see the movie Cinderella (Super sweet, by the way!), and I did something I haven't done in a very long time.  I bought movie theater popcorn!  With all the reports about how bad it is for you, I generally shy away from it, but it's hard to resist a kid :) Mmmmm....Let me tell ya, it was worth the indulgence.  And it gave me inspiration for today's card share.

I wanted to make a birthday card using the Bowl of Popcorn from DRS Designs, so I began with stamping, coloring and fussy cutting my image.  I created background papers using the Popcorn and Splatter Background stamps and added a bit of ribbon trim to match.  I then layered my image onto some die cuts, but I needed a sentiment for the front.

I chose the Hoppy Birthday Greeting, and changed it to fit the theme of my card.  I used a bit of tape to mask off the H in the first word and stamped and colored my greeting.  I then stamped it a second time on a piece of scrap paper and fussy cut the letter P, adding it to the beginning.  So cute.  It even looks like the greeting is popping around!

Thanks for "popping" by and in the words of Cinderella, "Have courage and be kind."

Have a great day!

Hey, Cupcake!

Hi Everyone,
This new sentiment stamp from DRS Designs, Hey, Cupcake!, might literally be referring to me after all the treats I ate over the holiday weekend...lol!
Seriously though, I knew I wanted to pair the greeting with the actual Cherry Top Cupcake stamp from the current catalog, so I stamped a row of them and added a punched border to the panel. I decided I wanted one cupcake to stand out, so I stamped and fussy cut one, and paper pieced the cupcake liner onto it. The striped patterned paper was created using the Large Original Plaid background stamp and then I attached it using a dimensional dot.

I finished off the card with some glitter on the cherry, a piece of twine and matching button.
Thanks for stopping by to visit!
