Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Kitty trio

Hi Everyone,

I made this birthday card with my niece in mind.  She's definitely a cat lover and with her birthday coming up in the beginning of May I knew I wanted to use the cute Happy Cat Sitting stamp from DRS Designs to make her a card.

I paired the image stamp with the Purrfectly Birthday Greeting by stamping it on the front of the the card panel.  After embossing it with a paw print embossing folder, I took my 1 1/4" punch and punched out 3 peek holes for the kitty cats.  I stamped the kitty three times and used a 1 3/4" punch to punch them out, positioning them behind the openings, changing up the directions they were looking out.

Using a larger scallop and circle punch, I made some frames for the openings to give the card a more finished look, adding a bit of ribbon and a punched mini heart for embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your day is Purr-fectly wonderful too!

It's Five O'clock

Hi Everyone,

I'm excited to sit outside on my desk and soak in the sun and warmer weather, so I decided to make a card that celebrates kicking back with a frosty beverage :)  Summer can't get here soon enough for me...It was 74 degrees over the weekend and I literally saw a young gal washing her car in a bikini.  It's not just me, we're all excited for summer here in Ohio...lol!

I started with the Margarita Glass stamp which was colored with Copic markers, fussy cut and embellished with some glitter glue as the stand in for a salted rim.  I stamped the Remember This and added three arrows from the 4 in 1 Arrows stamp.  After it was colored I used some punches and layered it up.  I paired that with the Five O'clock Somewhere Greeting, which was stamped and die cut.

I  stamped a matching border using the Polka Dot Background stamp and attached the different elements to the card using some dimensional tape.

Thanks for peeking in today!

Spring

Hi Everyone,

I know the calendar says that spring is here, it just doesn't feel like it outside.  I even had some snow this past weekend, so to cheer myself up, I used the Spring is Coming Greeting on my card today.  After stamping it, I used an oval die to cut and mat it, adding a bit of yellow sponged ink to give it a sunny look.

For my background, I used blue paper for the sky, stamped a row of greenery along the bottom portion using the Four Flower Stamp, and added a piece of green paper stamped with the Easy Grass Background which was adhered on top.  Finally I added a die cut fence on top of all of these elements.

I added my sentiment and my die cut clouds, but it seemed to sparse, so I added a couple of birdhouses as well. I stamped them using Birdhouse Tree Branch and Single Birdhouse, colored and fussy cut them, attaching them to posts made from scraps of brown paper.

Have you made a card using die cuts?  Well, that's our current challenge at DRS Designs, so link up! Check out this post for all the details.

Have a great day!

Spring is Coming

Hi Everyone,

I have a simple spring card to share with you today.  I've been working on doing some decluttering  at my home, and it spilled over into my card making.  I stamped and die cut my Spring is Coming Greeting, leaving some room at the bottom of my sentiment for some embellishment.

Nothing says spring like some flowers, so I chose some bright cardstock from which to punch out 3 flowers to add to the bottom of the greeting panel.  I had an embossing folder with a similar flower pattern, so I used that for my background, and it gave me a matchy look.

I grabbed my square punches (1 1/4" & 1 3/8") and used those to add a row of matching colors along side of the greeting, placing a white flower in the center complete with a gem.

Be sure to join us for the weekly challenge at the DRS Designs blog every Thursday!  The current challenge is Spring!

Have a great day!
