Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Old Flamingo

Hi Everyone,

How was your weekend?  Mine was quiet, but I'm tired from having stayed up to watch the Oscars. Did your favorite movie win?  I managed to see almost all of the nominees, but my favorites were The King's Speech and Toy Story 3.  (I was sobbing at the end of that cartoon!)

Today I have a card I made using this Flamingo from the I Brake for Digis shop.  I rounded out my card using some traditional stamps (did you know that makes this a Hybrid papercraft?) I can't help but mesh the two together. This bird looked a little perturbed, so I had to pull out this sentiment for it...lol.

Don't forget to use the code SAVE10KARIN when shopping at I Brake for Digis and you will save 10% off your entire order...Have a great day!

Challenges for this card

Music Saves My Soul Saturday

Hi Everyone,
For my Music Saves My Soul pick this Saturday, I decided to choose a song by someone who is local.  I think she has moved to Nashville in the last few years, but I used to go see Anne E. DeChant all the time in the 90's when she was the lead singer for the group Odd Girl Out.  They could really harmonize and well, Anne herself has an amazing voice.

The funny thing is, I was wondering if anything was available on the web for me to link up for this on Saturdays.  Then out of the blue, my husband says, "Hey, want a blast from the past?" And he started playing the one CD we have from Odd Girl Out.  I swear it'd been years since we've discussed them...After that I had to find something.

Obviously there is no video, but you have to love supporting the little guy.  Or in this case, gal :) If you would like to play along, link up your music pick at Marcea's Blog.

Thanks for listening and have a great weekend.

InStyle Stamps Blog Hop

Hi Everyone,
It's the last Friday of the month and that means it's time for a blog hop brought to you by the DT at InStyle Stamps.  Ready for some cute projects and lots of crafting inspiration?  You should have arrived from Kimme's blog, but if you didn't, just see the list below.  Leave some comments along the way and make sure you end up at the InStyle Stamps blog, they will have all the fun details there.

The theme is friendship, so I used this darling little Patty from the set Patty's Pretty Poises for my Post it note holder.  I bought these mini pens from the $1 spot at Target and they were a perfect fit for this gift item that's a perfect fit for any purse.

Next stop on the hop is Cathy...I know her project is a must see!

Karin (You are here)

Details-Paper: The Paper Company, KI Memories, Copic Markers in the following colors: C1, BG02, BG10, YG03, YG11, Y21, E31, E33, RV23, R85. Felt Butterfly: Michaels, Ribbon from my supplies.

A Cherry on Top

Hi Everyone!

How has your week been going?  Rod had Monday off due to the federal holiday, so I'm totally goofed up and a day off...lol.  Funny how a difference in routine can do that so quickly :)

Things have changed up for the design team for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  We will all be posting our projects to our blogs throughout the week, and Lindsay herself will do a wrap up of all our projects on her blog on Fridays.  How cool is that?  You will now be able to see her digi stuff being used all week long, and the DT blogs can be found on my side bar on the right.  Unless life gets in the way, I will most likely keep Thursday as my day to showcase something made from her shop at My Grafico and Lindsay will have her usual blog freebie on Thursdays as well.

Now that that's all settled, on to my card.  I worked on building up my stash of birthday cards this past weekend and here is one of them.  I used this cute cupcake stand from the set Sweet Stuff.  It's very pink, sparkly and girlie and totally fits the stamped sentiment I paired with it.

Here is a close up of the Stickles and Glossy Effects I added to the cherries.

Here are all the confections that can be found in the set Sweet Stuff.

Thanks for visiting today and stop by Lindsay's blog today for your freebie!

Fuzzy Easter Chick

Hi Everyone!

We had a small burst of warm (well, 50 degrees F seems warm this time of year) so I made a quick and easy spring-like card with some stamps from DRS Designs.

It's pretty self explanatory...I love this little Fuzzy Chick stamp!.  Easy peasy to color, and I used the Easy Grass stamp for the ground.  The Happy Easter sentiment is one of the stamps that was just released.  This may just be the card I mass produce for my Easter dinner invites for my family.

Today is my day at the DRS Designs blog, so pop on by to see my St Patty's Day card over there!

Age is Only a Number

Hi All,

I'm posting a card I made for my cousin's birthday. He used to have an orange motorcycle before he traded it in for a black one, so I made this card with that bike in mind. It's much more fun to color in orange than in black...lol.

I used one of the cute Freddie stamps (Freddie on a Harley) from I Brake for Digis and paired it with a traditional stamped sentiment from my supplies. I added some twine, because that always seems good and guy-ish...

and I glued on some googly eyes just because they are so fun :)

Be sure to check out all the stamps at the I Brake for Digis store...I know you will like what you see!  Remember to use the code SAVE10KARIN and you will save 10% off your entire order :)

Perfect Fit

Hi Everyone,

I have another card made using an image from the set Posh N Trendy from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  I think my favorite is that of the dress form and it was just what I needed to make a card for my friends birthday.

I paper pieced the dress form and then added a skirt using lace and some pearl embellishments.  Not sure how I feel about it, because it hides the darling form so much.

So here it is without anything...What do you think?  I would love if you left me a comment with your choice.

The sentiment is a traditional stamp and I loved using these papers with a sewing theme.

Here is a closer shot...

And a view of the entire set of images...

Thanks for stopping by to check in on me today and be sure to visit Lindsay and the rest of the design team for lots of great projects!

Silly Bird

Hi Everyone...Happy Hump Day!

This morning I'm showing off a card made with a couple more cute stamps from Hambo Stamps.

My brother in law is a huge bird fan, so I always make his birthday card with some sort of bird image or pun, and this one fits the bill.  I love the bold colors of the paper as well, not too "fru fru" for a guy.  The stamps I used are Marching Band (4219) and Miss Your Day (1016) and I know I'm using this for a birthday, but it could be for an special occasion.

Just so you know this too, the sentiment is one stamp that I stamped and then cut apart to fit my card.

Don't forget there is a new challenge starting today at the Hambo Hoedown blog.  The theme is beach colors (blue, brown and tan)  and the digi part of the Hambo DT has made the CUTEST cards, so stop by the Hambo Hoedown blog to be inspired and play along!

Have a great Wednesday!

Happy Easter

Hi Everyone,

So sorry I haven't been blogging about much of anything of a personal nature lately.  Trust me when I say life has just been a bit more hectic than usual, and I'm struggling to get some of the "need to know" stuff out to you on time.  I miss telling you about movies and books and food and what-not...Though I really haven't had time for much of that what-not stuff either :)  I'm hanging in there, and I hope you are hanging in there with me too.

I have another card today made with a couple of the new releases over at DRS Designs.  I'm in such a need for spring time weather...I'm longing for sunshine, a daffodil, sheesh even a blade of grass would be nice ;)

I used this cute Big Bunny Face with with the new Happy Easter greeting.  Doesn't this just make you smile?  The Easter bunny face is adorable and in my head, this is what the REAL Easter bunny looks like...lol.  I colored him just a bit and then cut him out.

I also stamped the blue card stock with the Lines O'Plenty; it's subtle so not sure if it shows up in the photo above, so here is a closer shot.

It's also my day to post at the DRS Designs blog, so stop by over there to see another pretty Easter card...Here's a peek...

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm so proud to be a part of this enormous Valentine's Day blog hop that is showcasing lots of crafty goodness, all in celebration of this day of love :)  What could be better than that, right?  I have a list of all the participants at the end of the post, but in the line up, you should have arrived from Sugar's blog.  If you didn't check the list below or begin at Taylor's blog so you don't miss out on any of the fun.  We have a huge amount of prizes that will be awarded to random commenter's, so be sure to leave some blog love along the way.  The list of sponsors and prizes is below as well, but let's move on to the main event.

My first card uses Amber Ink's Hostess with the Mostess set colored with Copic markers in tons of pink and red and some checked iPaper for the holiday.  The hearts are from a Stampin' Up set, and they fit perfectly on her tray.  Heart shaped sugar cookie anyone?

Monday I usually post something I made with a stamp from I Brake for Digis.  I didn't have an obvious Valentine image , but I thought this set of Jars would fit the bill, since one is filled cute hearts.

The twine, button, checked ribbon and Cosmo Cricket paper all seems to fit the kitchen theme. When shopping at I Brake for Digis, be sure to use the code SAVE10KARIN and you will save 10% on your entire order!

Thanks so much for making it to my blog on this fabulous hop that goes on through February 17th at 6:00 pm EST. That gives everyone a fair chance to make the rounds to all the blogs on the list.  Prizes will then be awarded to random commenter's from all the participating blogs on the hop.  Remember, the more comments you leave, the bigger your chance of winning!  Next up is Sunghee... Peep Peep

Hey Everyone,

I finally got to use one of the images from the new Posh and Trendy set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff.  It's just and all occasion card that I can have in my stash for when I need a "Hello" or "Thinking of You" kind of card.  The image was printed and then cut out using my Nesties.  The peeps going around it are a stamp from a little clear Basic Grey set.

"They" say, that gray is the new black.  Since the set below is called Posh and Trendy, I decided to make yellow and gray my color combo for the card.  Totally trendy.

Lindsay and the Design Team have great projects like always, stop by the blogs and be inspired!

Have a great day!

Short Chick

Hi Everyone,

I've got two stamp-y cards to share with you today.  They are both made using stamps from Hambo Stamps and they both use the same Short Chick (4222) stamp.

For this first card I decided to stack this cute birdie, so that it would match the What's Up, Chick (2704)sentiment which is also from Hambo Stamps.  I stamped the chick 3 times and colored them with my Copic markers, making the one on top a different color.  See the little birdie on the paper too? ;)

Then, just to prove you don't always have to color every stamped, open line image, I played along with the Almost Monochrome challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  The instructions were to use two neutrals and one color and all the stamping was to be in the same color. I used the To One of my Favorite Peeps  (4208)sentiment, since I only used one bird ;)

Pretty successful if I do say so myself.

Don't forget about the new challenge this week at the Hambo Hoedown too.  Lots of fun going on over there!

Thanks for stopping by to check in on me and I'll be around to visit you as well.  I have my book club meeting this week.  We are discussing Secrets of Eden by Chris Bohjalin.

 Have a great day!

Lead Me, Guide Me...

Hi Everyone,

Wow, my card today is such a typical Karin card.  It really is my go to layout, because it works for so many of my stamps, especially my background ones from DRS Designs.  I'm so pleased with the color combo and that the newly released sentiment, Lead Me, Guide Me is the focal point.

I love paring the feminine Interlocking Flower with with the more masculine Woven Plaid stamp for this card.  The Oval Spiro is also one of my favorite element stamps that I have from DRS Designs.  It's the perfect thing to highlight the verse.

I added gems and the little metal Bible embellishment from my stash of stuff to complete the card.

DRS Designs is the sponsor of the Spoonful of Sugar Challenge this week.  The theme is "Let's See Some Love" in honor of Valentine's day.  If you play along, you will have a chance at winning a $10.00 voucher for DRS Designs!

Need some inspiration for your card?  Today is my day to post over at the DRS Designs Blog, so pop on by to see my heart themed card....
