Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Hamming it Up at the Movies

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to "Hamming It Up At the Movies" sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today Hambo customers and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict movie titles. It might be our favorite movie, or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Sherry's Blog you are in the right place! If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose movie-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a hammin’ jammin’ way! Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced on the Hoedown blog, as well as on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, May 25.

Well, I chose to depict my choice of movie in a pretty literal way.  What do you think? Can you guess what it is?

The Wizard of Oz!

The idea was born when I saw this cute Pig Scarecrow (3801) stamp.  Not only do I love the movie, but the scarecrow is one of my favorite characters :)  I was going to go with a whole rainbow background, but then I remembered I had this Skyline (0433) stamp, and decided to get creative.  It's actually one long city scene, but I stamped it a couple of times, cut it apart and after coloring it, I covered it in glitter to simulate the Emerald City. (I'm feeling so proud)

The yellow brick road was made using an embossing plate by Fiskars and I made the sentiment by hand.  I thought I would give it to my niece when she leaves for college in the fall.

Now dance on over to Yolanda's Blog for another great movie scene!

One quick side note...Did you play along with the guessing game at the Hoedown blog this week on Wednesday?  Were you able to figure out what card is mine?  Well, here it is in all it's glory....

Isn't it funny?  I love puns on cards!  As a matter of fact, my neighbors asked if I had any cards for guys and this was one of the ones I showed them.  They chose it immediately!

It uses the Banana (0922) stamp and the funny phrase stamp You're Ripe (1529) The challenge was chipboard, so I thought the little arrow was the perfect thing to draw attention to the joke :)

I know this has been a lot of info, but if you made it this far, are you up for saving some money on your Hambo Stamps?  All the details for the sale can be found right here.

Okey Dokey, NOW I'm totally done talking your ear off....Continue on the movie hop. Once again, it's on to Yolanda's Blog.

Details not listed above-Paper: The Paper Company, Cosmo Cricket, Ink: Stampin Up, Momento, Markers: Copic, Punches: EK Success, Stampin Up.

The glitter on the city is a terrific touch! The banana digi and sentiment would be so perfect for my hub's b-day. He always eats a banana every single day.

I TOTALLY LOVE this card!! Brilliant idea. My daughter was the Wicked Witch last fall, when her high school did W of Oz and it has a special place in my heart (always did love the movie and SOTR is my favorite song of all time!). Thanks for having such a creative and terrific BRAIN (unlike Scarecrow!). LOL~

In the second card, I love your sense of humour... as always, right? No wonder your neighbour picked the card up in an instant.

AHHHH! I used to live in KS. As soon as I saw your card, I stated to sing the song from the "Whiz" (the Michael Jackson version of the movie.)..."you've got to ease on down, ease on down the road!" Sung in my best voice, of course.
I like the glitter and your yellow brick road! I also like your card puns! :)

Hello Karin,
What a perfect card "the Wizard of Oz". I love that 3D-effect of the city and the road who leads into it.
And your "naughty" Banana card: brilliant, would like to make one for my hub, but ♪♫♫ I have no Banana's today ♫♪♪
Have a nice weekend, Karin

OMGosh! Does Hambo make anything that DOESN'T have a pig on it?! A pig scarecrow for the Wizard of Oz - how cool is that? I loved how you did the Emerald City, too. Give yourself another pat on the back for that one!
