Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Proud to be an American

Hi Everyone,

Inspired by the recent re-opening of the Statue of Liberty after super storm Sandy, I decided to feature her on a patriotic card using stamps from Sparkle N Sprinkle.  There are a bunch of great all American images and sentiments in the Patriotic Icons (#433) set, that can be used on cards and scrapbooking all year long.
The Statue of Liberty (#3507-433G) was stamped in Versamark (#99702), coated in Vanilla Ice embossing powder (#EP265), heat set, fussy cut and set aside.  Light colored embossing on dark paper is a very striking look.  If you haven't done the technique in a while, give it a try.  I know that you will be pleased.  I used Sticker Paper (#99558) and Liberty glitter (#G1026) to make my die cut star and added the sentiment (#3518-433B) to the center.  My white cardstock was dry embossed, and embellished with washi tape, 1/4" Tear-iffic Tape (#SAT01) coated in more Liberty glitter and twine.

After adhering all the card stock together, I added my cut elements with some dimensional dots.  Specific details can be found in my card gallery here.
Thanks for dropping by and I hope you are enjoying the summer!

Karin this is gorgeous. Love the embossing in the background and how you have used the twine.
