Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Monster Hugs

Hi Everyone,

I have another creepy zombie card to share here today.  I wanted to use the fun Monster Hugs Greeting, and chose to pair it up with the new Zombie Hand Wave.  Doesn't it look like he's coming up to hug (or maybe grab and eat) you?!

Since there is only the one hand, and it's the right hand once you stamp it, I used a reverse image stamp to give me the left.  If you don't have a reverse image stamp (and I don't) I simply stamped my image onto a clear block and turned that over and stamped it next to the other hand.  It does stamp lighter, so I just stamped it twice, (and it's easy to line up, because you can see through the clear block) and that seemed to do the trick.  Once I colored and die cut it, you couldn't even tell which is which.

My background was created using the Spooky Tree Limb and I added the punched border of drippy goo to look like oozing blood.  Wow, I'm a little grossed out typing the end of that sentence...lol!

Thanks for visiting us today!

Zombies Rising

Hi Everyone,

I've been having fun making Halloween cards this past week using the new zombie stamps that DRS Designs just released!  They came out at the perfect time for me, because I just finished watching the first season of The Walking Dead.  I'm definitely late to the party on this show, since I think they're going to start season six or seven, not to mention spin offs, but I feel better that I'm now in the know, regarding this pop culture hit :) So, if you're a fan of the show, you'll be a fan of these stamps for sure.  They're a real must have!

I chose an orange base due to the Halloween theme, and I stamped and die cut my Zombies Rising Greeting (936G), leaving the die in place and added some orange sponging to match.  I added a die cut layer and set it aside while I stamped, colored and fussy cut my Zombie Guy (917G).

Next I set about creating a background on a muted yellow card stock.  I chose to keep it neutral simply stamping it in black ink, therefore highlighting the sentiment and zombie.  Accent Bats were stamped at the top, followed by the Silhouette  Graveyard and the Zombie Crawler (932F) at the bottom.

Be sure to check out all the fun new stamps at DRS Designs!

 Have a great day...

Masculine Color Block Card

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a masculine card to share with you. I was desperate for an easy card for a man, so I thought I would try this simple technique that I saw a long time ago and jotted down in my idea book.  I'm calling it the color block technique, but perhaps it goes by another name.  I'm happy to call it easy!

I began with 2 pieces of card stock, white and light blue, both 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" in size. I then stamped the Sailboat and Anchor from DRS Designs on one and then the other, making sure to put the stamps in the same spot on both pieces of the card stock.  You could use a stamp-a-ma-jig or the MISTI to help line them up.  I then took both pieces, one on top of the other and cut them in half at the same time using my paper cutter..  All that was left to do was take the opposite colors and piece them back together.

I changed up the placement of the gems and Sending you Sunshine greeting, just so the cards wouldn't be completely identical.

I finished them by layering them onto some matching card stock.  It was such a fun quick way to make 2 cards at the same time!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hang in There!

Hi Everyone,

Is it wrong to make a card for yourself?  That's totally what I did...lol!  It's been a rough couple of weeks in my house.  There have been cars in the shop and now a broken computer.  Broken enough to where it's not worth fixing, so we've been researching what kind to get and let me tell you, my head is ready to explode.  Too many choices, and too many opinions from too many sources.  Sigh.  So, this card was simply made to cheer myself up :)

I used the Hang in There Monkey from DRS Designs, stamping it in brown ink and adding some vines using the Leafy Tree Branch stamp.  I colored it using Copic markers and die cut and layered it onto some scalloped rectangles.  The background was made using an embossing folder with a giraffe print that I inked up to go with the whole jungle theme,

Then to finish it off, I went old school with my embellishments and added some ribbon and gems!

Here's hoping you're hanging in there too!  Go make a card, it's sure to help you smile :)
Thanks for stopping by!

Naked Stamping

Hi Everyone,

The current challenge on the DRS Designs blog is called Naked Stamping, which is a fun way of saying stamping without coloring the image :)  So for today's card I used my Copic markers and made a little ocean scene in gradient blues, going from dark to light.  Then I grabbed a few fishy friend stamps and stamped away, adding some seaweed and bubbles that I embellished with some blue Stickles.

Here is a list of the stamps I used:
Happy Octopus
Happy Shark
Killer Birthday Greeting
Happy Seal
Bubbles
Four Flower Background

Have a great day!  Hope to see you play along :)
