Hi Everyone,
Tomorrow is our nations birthday, but I'll be celebrating this evening by watching fireworks from my mother-in-law's deck :) The trees in our sight line are growing larger every year, so we're going to keep the tradition going as long as possible. I hope that you have a great day tomorrow, however your choose to celebrate!
In the mean time, here are a couple of patriotic cards to kick off the celebration.
I purchased these star shaped shakers, along with a card that had the star shape cut out already on the front. (Hampton Art brand) The white card was much too plain for me, so I cut it in half and only used the front portion and my own red and blue cardstock.
I stamped the background using both the Interlocking Star Background and the Starry Background stamps. I embossed a corner piece of red cardstock and after attaching it to the background piece, I covered up the seam with a piece of double sided tape and some red and blue glitter.
I made a banner for my Let Freedom Ring Greeting and embellished it with a die cut star made from sticker paper and blue glitter. My sequin filled shaker seemed to get lost on the busy background, so I used a couple of punches to make a little frame to make it stand out.
My second card is crazy easy. It was only when I was choosing my embossing folder for the above card, that I realized I had 3 star themed folders. If I knew this at some point, I had totally forgotten! So, before I put them all away, I went ahead and embossed some red, white and blue cardstock . After rounding the corners, I attached the 3 strips to a Kraft colored card base and used the same cute sentiment.
I added three punched stars for embellishment and called it done!
Just thought I'd share this bit of random cuteness before I go...Bambi outside my front door this morning. They're adorable when they're little and haven't participated in eating everything in my yard :)
Enjoy your Independence Day!
Karin
