Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

St. Patrick's Day and A Sneak Peek

Hi Everyone,

My cards are complete opposites today; one monochromatic and one, not :)  Let's get right to the details.

This first one was all about St. Patrick's Day, so I kept it simple, only green and white. I used white embossing powder and the Shamrock Scroll  for the background panel and Happy St. Patrick's Day Shamrock Scroll for the sentiment.  I simply added a ribbon bow and a few gems to finish it off.

Many times I've mentioned that the love of birds is a huge thing in my extended family, so I was thrilled to receive this new stamp that will soon be released at DRS Designs.  I love that this Silly Bird (870D) is cartoon like, because it gave me artistic license to go bright and cheery with my colors!

I used a Stamp-a-ma-jig to help me stamp the birds in a stack and I used a couple of different stamps along with my punches for the sentiments.  Those stamps are Birds of a Feather Friends Greeting and Extra Tweet Birthday Greeting.

Thanks for stopping by...Have a great day!

Irish Friendship

Hi Everyone,

Today I have a couple of Irish/St. Patrick's Day/Friendship cards to share with you.  I tried to get out of my comfort zone, so I flipped through my sketch binder and found this interesting one.

Beginning with a green card base, I attached a shamrock embossed background.  I punched out some brown and green 1 1/4" squares, stamping them using the Tree Slice Woodgrain and the
Shamrock Scroll , and then attached them in the pattern seen here. This left a spot for an image on top and a sentiment below.

I chose to stamp and die cut the Claddagh, coloring it and attaching it with dimensional foam tape.   The missing you was an old die from Cuttlebug/Provocraft and I thought it would be appropriate for a card for a far away friend.  Lastly, I attached a green metal clip for embellishment.

Here, I began by stamping the Irish Friendship Greeting, die cutting it and adding some sponging around the edges.  Taking inspiration from the greeting,  I used some Copic markers to create the rainbow background and some colorless ink to make the water droplets.  Before attaching it to the card base, I came across a scrap that had been stamped using the Silhouette Branch Background, so I added that as well.  Love using up those bits.  Just because it didn't work out that one time, don't toss it away!

The two images, Snail Toadstool and Tree Home Gnome were stamped, colored, punched out and added with more dimensional tape.

Thanks for visiting today!

Ladybug Birthday

Hi Everyone,

The snow and ice are back in full force outside my window, so I thought a cheery ladybug card would be just the thing for today's post.

I colored up the darling little Ladybug Toadstool, and punched it out using my 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circle punches.  Those sizes will tell you it's small, so I chose to make it more of an embellishment by pairing it up with the Ladybug Birthday Greeting, which I stamped, die cut and matted.

I made my background by choosing colors from my toadstool, and stamped the Easy Dot background in red and the Splatter background in green. Using a scallop border punch, some cardstock scraps and a bit of ric rack, I attached my border to the top of the card.

After adhering my sentiment and image, I debated whether to add a flower embellishment, but ended up leaving well enough alone, deciding less is more :)

Thanks for stopping by and I'm wishing you a delightful day!

Holiday Cards

Hi Everyone,

I'm loving these new stamps that have been recently released by DRS Designs so much, that I'm skipping right by Valentine's and heading toward March and April holidays!

First up is St. Patrick's Day and the new stamp featured is this St. Patrick's Shamrock Scroll ,
which I stamped colored and die cut, adding a few dabs of glitter glue for embellishment.

I created the background using the Shamrocks and Splatter Background stamps in green and orange ink.  An embossed shamrock panel was added down the center and I attached the sentiment towards the top of the card.

For the image, I used the Hat Full of Shamrocks, stamping, coloring and fussy cutting it out.  I cut off all but one of the lucky clovers, choosing to fill the hat with gold coins instead.  I glittered up some paper and used a small circle punch to create them, cutting a slit in the hat to give me a place to pile up the coins.

Before attaching the hat, I added a strip of patterned paper made using the Shamrock Scroll stamp.

I can't believe how late into the month of April that Easter falls this year. I actually like that more than when it falls at the end of March.  We have a better chance of daffodils and sunshine this way!

So, how about a sunny, cheerful card graced with our favorite pig!  The new stamp is
Easter Ears Leonard Pig and I stamped him on top of a row of  Easter Eggs with Bows.  I just created a mask and used it to stamp the line of eggs, adding the Happy Easter Everybunny sentiment.

I used the Easy Dot Background and Silhouette Branch Background to make the base papers, adding some lace and premade velum flower stickers for embellishments.

As I finish typing this post, it's 60 degrees and the sun is out.  Between that and my cards today, I definitely in the mood for spring!

Thank you for visiting!
