Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

America

Hi Everyone,

Since we're getting ready to celebrate America next week, I thought I would make some patriotic cards for today's post, using stamps from DRS Designs.

I had yet to use the Camouflage Background stamp for it's intended purpose, so I stamped the background in various shades of green to create an Army fatigue look. Both the Soldiers of America Greeting and the Army Seal were heat embossed before I added them to the card, which I finished off with a few punched stars.

For this card I stamped the new Stars and Stripes Border twice, once in red and then flipping it around and stamping it in blue.  I attached a punched border to the border panel, and then to a piece of cardstock that was stamped with the Interlocking Star Background.

Before attaching the Stars and Stripes Forever sentiment, I added a bit of glitter by way of double sided tape.  Again, a few punched stars were my embellishment of choice.

Thanks so much for peeking in today!

Pigs and Fish

Hi Everyone,

I've used many of the new recently released stamps on this first card today.  Patriotic cards always mean summer time to me, so I hope this little card wills mother nature to send me some sunshine...It's been grim and wet in these here parts :(

I knew when I received the new Made in the USA Circle stamp, that I wanted to do more than just use it on the back of a card.  I thought Leonard the Pig Billboard would be the perfect vehicle to show it off, so I stamped, colored and fussy cut him out, piecing on hat from the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories stamp.

I colored and fussy cut the Patriotic Heart, covering it in some white, sugary glitter.  I layered it and the pig onto a die cut and embossed rectangle, adding a patriotic star for embellishment.

Using the Stars and Stripes Border, I stamped it onto the background and added a blue strip of cardstock that I dry embossed with stars.  For the sentiment, I stamped and cut apart the
God Bless America, and adhered everything onto a Kraft colored base.

After being inspired by my teammates fishy cards over the past couple of weeks at DRS Designs, I'm finally adding mine to the blog.

I began by stamping a blue background using the Bubbles stamp, and I stamped some strands of seaweed using the Four Flower Background stamp.  I made the sandy bottom by stamping with the
Splatter Background stamp, and then tore the edges before adding it to the card.

I stamped, colored and fussy cut the creatures, adding some punched branches for seaweed and the Splish Splash Greeting, minus the water droplets.

Here are the rest of the stamps used on this card:

To finish my card, I glued on some sequins to my ocean floor for a bit of shine.

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Summer Accessories

Hi Everyone,

One of my favorite card sketches came in handy to show off the "cutie-patooty" accessories from the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories stamp.  I wanted it to be a summer themed card, so I colored all the images in a sunny yellow, and matted them onto scallop punch.

I chose an embossed sunray background, accenting the rays using the same Copic marker I used to color the stamped images.

The In the Accessories greeting seemed the perfect compliment to the fun images, so after die cutting it, I added some yellow ink to keep with the theme.

I hope you enjoyed this easy breezy card share today...
Summer is on its way!

Animal Friends

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of animal themed cards to share with you today and both of them use some of the new stamps that have been recently released at DRS Designs.

On my first card the animals are accessorized for summer using the 4 in 1 Fashion Accessories.  I stamped and colored Jimbo and the Gang and then added the fussy cut sunglasses, hat and bow tie.  I attached it to a base that was stamped using the Silhouette Leaf Background and created a sentiment for it by combining a couple of greetings, Jungle Out There and Flakey Friends Winter Greeting.

While this new background stamp is named Camouflage Background, I couldn't help but see cows when I looked at it.  I'm not sure what that says about me, since I'm nowhere close to being a farm gal!  If you're of a certain age, think Ava Gabor's character on the TV show Green Acres, and that's me :)

Anyhow, I stamped the camouflage in black and created a cow using my owl punch, a die cut oval, and googly eyes.  I wasn't able to piece together a sentiment, so I created one. It took me awhile, I was working on the word moo, but it wasn't coming together for me. Then I switched to the word cow, so I hope the pun comes across as a form of " How are you?" :)

Be sure to click on over to the new releases page at DRS Designs for all of these stamps and much more!

Have a great day,
Karin
