Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Two More Card Swap Cards

Happy Friday Everyone!

I have two more cards to share today that came from my swap. This first card is mine...I thought there might be enough Halloween/Autumn cards, so I skipped ahead to Christmas. I used a layout that I previously used here, and of course the snowman from this post here. Kinda funny reusing my own cards for inspiration! Anyway, I like the snowman so much better on this card. Why? See the shadow around him...I didn't do that on the previous card, so he just seemed to be floating out there. He is much more grounded now.

Very pleased with the with the crisp look of this card... This other Christmas card came from Beth. Everyone was so excited to make one of these Tri-Shutter cards. How delighted will someone be when they receive this in the mail this holiday season?

Crazy impressive when you open it up!

Thanks for stopping by today and visiting the Christmas holiday a little early. Are you ready for the Trick or Treat kiddies at your house? My candy is in the dish at the front door. The real trick is to not eat it all before tomorrow night. LOL.

Details for both cards-Stamps:Stampin' Up, Ink: Versafine, Stampin' Up, Paper: Unknown source, Stickles, Nesties, Ribbon and brads from my stash.

Pink Ribbon

Good Morning All...

Last year I had a friend do the 3 Day. For those who have never heard of it, it is a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. Teams of people raise money (and it's a lot of money, like in the thousands per team) and walk 60 miles in 3 days...quite a commitment! Not just the physical walking, but the fundraising too!

I made a pink ribbon card for her to let her know I would be thinking of her that weekend, and how impressed I was with the effort put forth by her team. That was before I began blogging, so I don't have a photo of the card.

I thought before the month of October was over, I would dust off the stamp and use it for the challenge over at Digital-Ink Co. Challenge Blog where the requirement was to use some type of material/fabric in the card.

Using a piece of lace scrap that came in a grab bag a kabillion years ago, ( Yes, not a real word, but I know you know how long ago that is!) I fashioned it into a girlie medallion. I wove a piece of thread along the top of the lace, gathered it and pulled it into a circle. So there ya have it...A public service announcement in the form of a card. My minor good deed for the day.

Have a good one!

Card Swap Cards

Hi Everyone!
This past Monday, my friend Laura organized a card making get together. Everyone designs one card and brings along enough stuff for everyone else to make one of those cards. It takes time to cut and organize everything before hand, but it's so fun when you leave with 10 different cards!
These two cards are from the group we made on Monday. I wanted to get theme posted ASAP since Halloween is on Saturday! I can't believe how quick October flew by...
This was designed by Brenda...Can you see the candy corn stamped in the background? And this one was designed by Bernadette. She's a Stampin Up demonstrator so she used one of the new sets from the Holiday Mini Catalogue...
The two outer pumpkins are up on pop dots...She also said this set comes with ovals that make cute Easter eggs. I love sets that give you multiple use options.

I will be posting the rest of the Make-n-Takes in the coming days, but until then, would you take a second and vote in the Charlie Brown poll? Rod and I watched "It's the Great Pumpkin" last night, which got us debating which special is the best. We both thought it was the Christmas one, but disagreed on which came in second. It was his idea to put it on the blog, so there it is...What do you think?

See ya all tomorrow!
Details-I know all the stamps and ink are Stampin Up...

Sooo Many Leaves, So Little Time...

Ugh!

Just a few pictures of why I am not posting a card today...My backyard leaves... Did I mention my pine trees shed like crazy???

Yep, more pine junk!

Oh yeah, the front yard too...

ACK! See ya tomorrow!

A Halloween Valentine

Happy Monday Everyone!

Cinema Saturday has a challenge this week where the inspiration for the card is the movie, Hocus Pocus. I do know that I saw this movie a looong time ago, but I don't remember much about it. So, thank goodness the request is simply make a Halloween card and not something super specific from the movie.

Taking inspiration from there being witches in the movie, this is the card that's going in my husband's lunch bag on Friday as a little pick me up in the middle of the day. The orange square was made by stamping on the card with the ink pad itself. Otherwise, it's clean, simple and pretty self explanatory!

Happy Halloween!

Birthday Wishes

Hi All!
Quick post of a birthday card made awhile ago. The butterfly was cut out using the Cricut and the embossed swirl is an Inkadinkadoo stamp. The background was sponged and I since I used black underneath, I used a punch to highlight the corners. Blogger is acting wonkie today so I am cutting it short... Deets below.

A Few San Diego Vacation Pics!

Hi Everyone,

This is my second post for today, but if you are here to see a crafty project or a card, you'll have to scroll down a bit. I was going to post most of my pictures on Facebook, but a lot of people I know aren't on Facebook, so I have to put some here as well. This is just a sample of a few days...Temecula is southern California's Wine Country. I was not sorry we made the trip there, it was beautiful. These first pictures are from Temecula's Old Town...
Outside a gift shop,

Lots of Day of the Dead paraphernalia to buy...(Love the colors!)

And the beautiful vineyards...I never thought it would be so lovely after being in Napa Valley a few years ago,

but it didn't disappoint.

Gorgeous!

Of course a few photos from the zoo,

Our elephant exhibit is getting a complete redo here at the Cleveland Zoo, so it is closed for a couple of years. This just opened this summer, so it is brand new!

I never thought that this would be my favorite animal (I thought it would be the Panda, since they are rare and not at too many zoo's in the U.S.), but it was a funny little critter....

The MEERCAT!

They were so animated and running all around. Each one seemed to have a little personality all their own and were cracking me up!

I wish that I had watched Meercat Manor when it was on cable as a show...

After scampering on all fours to get where they wanna go, they stand up on two legs like a person! Too cute!

This day we drove out to Oceanside and walked the pier. It was soooo long and there is a Ruby's diner at the end of it...Looks like you are dining in the middle of the ocean! That's Rod and Frank in the foreground and you probably can't see to the end of the pier...That's how long it is!

Us,

And the surfer dudes....

Thanks for taking the time to visit, and I will post new series of photos when I get the chance!

A Cheerful Snowman

Hi Everyone!
I'm still showing cards made awhile ago, and looking back, why I didn't use the snowflake embossing folder on this card I will never know! Maybe that means I should make another one that is better than this... (sly smile)
I love images of snowmen (as long as they have hats... Without hats they're just naked and missing something.) and this is a favorite one. Easy to color and embellish with some glitter...
to highlight the snow.

Have a great weekend and the details are below.
Details-Stamps: Stampin up, Ink: Versafine, Marvy Markers, Stampin Up Pastels, Glitter: Joann's Paper, Ribbon, and Brad from my stash of stuff.

Happy Halloween

Hi Stamping Friends!

I haven't had a chance to create anything new because there have been so many things to do since I got back. This time of year requires a lot of outside yard time, with all the leaf raking and winter prep, so I am still showing you things I made before I left for vacation.
Candy Corn. It's a weird thing right? Very sweet, not all that good tasting, yet I buy and eat it every year. Not really sure why... Maybe it's that perfect little triangle shape. As a kid, I remember biting off the tip first, and eating each color separate to see if they tasted different. They don't, but I still eat them that way sometimes...

I was digging the Clean and Simple card style one day, and stamped a bunch of different ones. This is a Halloween card, with the big "Ta-Da" being Glossy Effects on the candy corn.

I think it's just tradition to have candy corn around...Besides, look how cute it is...

Thanks for the visit and I hope you have a sweet day!

Mummy Votives

Good Morning!

This is not a card, but I made these after seeing something similar at the craft store around here.

I made them before vacation, and they have been on my table ever since...So cute!!!!

I used gauze torn into strips and wrapped it around two old votive candle holders I had. After securing it with glue, I took a brown ink pad (don't remember which brand!) and scummed up the material to make it look aged. I bought googlie eyes and used a glue dot on those to secure them. The craft store used tall cylinders for these, but I had these votive holders on hand and thought I would recycle, so in this case I am using the battery operated tea lights for safety. Thanks for the drop by and hopefully I will get to posting new stuff later in the week!

And The Winner Is...

Hi All!

I am back with the Blog Candy Winner! I was going to use the random number watchama- hooker thing, but some people got more than one entry and I didn't want to take the time and figure out how to make that fair for everyone. Soooo...into the pumpkin candy dish everyone went.... And the winner is...

Yahoo for you!!!! You can visit her blog here!

Congrats...I have contacted the winner by email. (I just realized I spelled your name wrong! Me, of all people, who has had my name spelled Karen my whole life! So insensitive of me...Sheesh! I'm blaming it on jet lag...) I really to thank everyone for playing along and sticking around while I was away.

I'm looking forward to getting back to creating, visiting all your blogs and my craft fair date is creeping up real fast! I even sold 15 cards while I was gone and got an order for "as many Christmas cards as you have on hand"....So exciting!

Happy Crafting!

I'm Back!

Hi Everyone!
Well, I'm back to my blogging routine...If you were wondering why I took a break, it was because I was on a sweet vacation with my husband! Woo-Hoo! A fabby and generous relative gave us their timeshare outside San Diego last week, so we took advantage of the opportunity and saw the sights...I haven't unpacked yet, (I have no idea where the camera is!) but I took a couple of photos with my phone... Here is us at the San Diego Zoo...
One of our best friends lives in California, so he drove over and met us and enjoyed the day too...The weather was great in southern Ca., and if the leaves here in Ohio weren't doing their splendid fall color show, I would be really depressed that the vacation had to end!
Thanks for sticking around and I will be back later to let ya know who won the blog candy!

Shades of Purple

Hi Everyone,
I didn't think I would be making many cards this week, but instead of watching TV last night, I managed to squeak one out...The best part of all this? It fits 2 challenges and it's going in the mail for a thank you today! Yippee! I am always thrilled when something leaves my home after being made.
I used the Mojo Monday sketch for the layout and chose a monochromatic color scheme to fit the challenge over on Jessica's blog, Encourage Joy.I have brads in 3 different colors of purple, yet all of them were slightly off color-wise when it came to using them here. So, instead I used my Crop-O-Dial and punched out matching circles using the biggest hole, and glued them on with my 2 Way Glue Pen. The image itself was stamped twice, once in Stampin Up's Perfect Plum and second in Elegant Eggplant. A cool little shadow technique. Certainly not new, but I forget about doing it sometimes...

Thanks bunches for the drop by today...See ya on the Internet!
Details not listed above-Stamps: Stampin Up, Paper: Stampin Up, Joann's and an unknown source, Nesties, ribbon from my supplies.

Fall Fun

Good Morning!

It sure is fall like around here, but we have had some sunshine the past day or so...Hurray!

I made this card for the challenge over at Digital-Ink Co. (Make a fall themed card) and One Day At A Time where we were to use something from the mail in our creation. I was saving junk for a couple of days, so sure I was going to have some great plan and be super creative, but instead I wimped out and used a picture of some grapevine pumpkins from the Crate and Barrel catalogue. I couldn't help it....they were calling to me! A bit predictable, but very festive none the less. I liked the distressed stripes from the Cuttlebug folder for a background; just adds a great texture. I had a bunch of leaf brads I purchased last year at Target that I had not used yet, so I thought they fit the theme of this card well.

Thanks for peeking in today...

Details: Stamps: Inkadinkado, Inique Boutique, Ink: Rubber Stampede, Paper: Bazzill and an unknown source, Brads: Target, and ribbon from my supplies
