Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

So, I've been slacking....

Yes, I've been slacking when it comes to showing off some Sparkle N Sprinkle cards.  I post over at their blog every 1st & 3rd Wednesday, but I haven't shown off anything here since before Christmas. Yikes!

Life has a way of getting in the way of crafty stuff, doesn't it?  Well, let me rectify things today with this post :)

I'm choosing this card, because with the red & pink colors and the flowery paper, I think it's appropriate for Valentine's day.

Last year, Sparkle N Sprinkle came out with "Stampette" sets.  These are slightly smaller than their regular set and that is reflected in the price too.  Great for this time of year, when we are paying off those holiday bills :)  I used Blossoms to Go (440S) and Berry Bliss (EP313) for the embossed flower down the side.  It was fussy cut, and a piece of dry embossed paper was placed inside, so that it could show through.  The sentiment is from the set Just For You (444S) and since my paper had glitter on it, I added a strip of Purple Fusion (G1083) glitter.

As always, full details on how to recreate my card can be found in the Sparkle N Sprinkle gallery.

I've finally put away my Christmas decorations this week.  They were in boxes in the living room for what seemed like forever.  I feel like I can finally breath again.

This past weekend was a sad one for our family.  Our Aunt Effie passed away.  She was blessed to have lived a full 87 years and I will cherish the memories I have of her.  She still lived in the home she and Ralph built in 1960, but needed help with day to day things.  While her daughter Nancy was looking for some help last year, it was my privilege to go over an stay with her.  She was so sweet and funny!  And had the best outlook on life.

After her doctor appointment one day she said, "Let's go have lunch."

Me: Sure Aunt Effie, we can go to lunch.  Just not now.

Effie: Why not? We're already out.

Me: Because it's only 9:45am.  We'll have to wait awhile, but we can go. Where would you like to eat?

Effie: Bob Evans! They have the best chicken pot pie.

Did you know that?  Well, now you do. Someone at the funeral said, "If you didn't know Effie, then you really missed out."  For sure.

Photos from last summer.

We miss you already!

Well, it's Martin Luther King Day weekend, so with Monday a holiday we're looking forward to an extra long weekend :)  We've got some friends coming over for food and a movie (?) this weekend.  I put a question mark there because playoff football is going on and I'm not too sure how we are going to watch both things. And of course I'm always excited about awards season, so I will be beached on the sofa watching the Golden Globes on Sunday.

And, my new favorite show, Downton Abbey started up again last Sunday! So, so good!

How great are these clothes???  And yes, I know that I watch too much TV.  Did I mention that I'm shopping for a new one?  Finally. We're joining the modern age and will no longer have one that is fat and stupid. It's really been embarrassing, but I didn't want to toss the lovely piece of furniture that houses the big fat and stupid one, and I finally found someone who wants it. Yay me!

What are your plans this weekend?

Challenges for this card:
Inky Impressions-Anything Goes
Anything Goes-Anything Goes

Hi Karin, you really have i for paper. You have embossed those blossoms so nicely and because of the darker ribbon in the middle they complete each other within the colour scheme. These kind of details always inspires me!

Thank you for joining this week at Digi Doodle Shop Challenges #90 Embossing.

So sorry to hear about the loss of Aunt Effie - she sounds like she was a remarkable woman (and really had the right outlook on life!) Yay for new TV - I watch a lot, too (mostly fluff), so I'm certainly not judging ;) Hope you're enjoying your long weekend...I'm back at work and it's FROSTY out (-30C)
