Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Everyone,

Merry Christmas!  I hope you're enjoying a happy holiday :)

If you're thinking, there is no way I would be able to stamp this little scene, there are way too many elements, you are in luck.  This is one single stamp! How cool is that?  I stamped the
All in 1 Christmas Village and made it super easy, by simply highlighting the buildings and road with  grey and blue markers and coloring in the doors in red.

I then stamped the red background in white using the Snow Background stamp.  I added a punched snowflake border along with a gem embellished snowflake.  For a greeting, I chose the
Christmas From Our House sentiment to finish it off.

Here's wishing you all the best!

Merry Christmas!

Holiday Cards

Hi Everyone,

I'm really cutting it close when it comes to getting my cards made and mailed out this year...Please, tell me I'm not alone...lol!  I think if I get to the post office today or tomorrow, I'll still be able to make the deadline.  If you're in the same boat with me, here's a little last minute inspiration.

I have a friend that inherited his family home, and he's in the process of remodeling it.  HIMSELF.  I'm in awe. Home improvement is one of my nightmares.  So, this card that features the
Tool Christmas Stocking, from DRS Designs is a stamp that was tailor made for his holiday card. I colored it up, die cut and matted it, adding a silver, metal like snowflake for embellishment.

I used an embossing folder that had gears on it and embellished that with some metal brads, to keep with the theme of the masculine card, finishing it by adding the Fixin' Merry Christmas Greeting.

I realized I needed to make a card at the last minute, so that always means clean and simple.  This one couldn't have been easier.

I die cut a tree and embossed it with some snowflakes, adding a few touches of glitter glue.  I grabbed my watercolor brush and painted the background in a tree shape, and once it was dry, I attached it with some dimensional foam tape.

I grabbed my punches and the Small Happy Holidays sentiment and called it done.  I know it's plain, but it really makes my heart sing.  I've already decided this will be my Christmas party invites for next year.

The big day is one week away...I'm wishing you peace and joy!
Thanks for stopping by!

Seas and Greetings

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I really got my sparkle on, so I thought what better time than the holidays to glitter up some cards :)

Blue and white are always a nautical color combo, so I began by stamping my navy background with the Splatter Background stamp. After stamping with white ink, I took a sponge and just smeared and softened the spots so that they wouldn't look so defined.  I placed an embossed seashell strip along the bottom and lined the sides with double sided tape and glitter.

I then stamped and heat embossed the Seashell Christmas Tree and the new Seas and Greetings sentiment, fussy cutting the tree and die cutting the greeting.

I die cut and added some glitter embellished mats for my greeting and then assembled the card, finishing it off with a gemstone flourish from my stash.

While we don't have any glittery sand where I live, we do have lots of the glittery white stuff...(I'd take the sand and shells any day!)

Here's hoping your season is shaping up to be swell!

Merry Christmas

Hi Everyone,

My card today features the beautiful new Christmas Door Knocker stamp.  I can just see it on an open house invitation, or a welcome to the neighborhood card, or just a friendly holiday card like mine here:

I chose to heat emboss the image on Kraft cardstock and color it in with some water based markers.  I die cut and matted it, adding it with pop dots to a dry embossed background.  The strip of patterned paper was made using the Snow Background and the Splatter Background stamps.  I finished the card by added a matching ribbon and rounding off one corner.

Here's look at the heat embossing:

I did a simple inside using the Christmas From Our house Greeting,
the Christmas Village Slope Roof Cottage, along with the same Snow Background stamp from the front.

How's your holiday cardmaking coming along?  If you need some more inspiration, DRS Designs has got you covered.

Apples and Ornaments

Hi Everyone,

Because Thanksgiving fell so early in November, as I type this, I still feel like I'm celebrating two seasons and holidays.  I'm eating turkey soup, made from my leftovers, and I'm also decorating for Christmas.  Hence my cards for the blog today :)

I couldn't let the harvest season pass by with out coloring up the gorgeous Bountiful Basket stamp. It screams bounty and thankfulness, and lets me use all of my favorite colored markers to bring it to life.  I die cut and added a mat, along with a second pumpkin.  I stamped it a second time, colored and fussy cut it, adding it using some dimensional foam tape.

An embossed fall word background, along with a strip of paper made using the Splatter Background stamp, made up the background for this card.  I finished it off with the Thanks be to God Greeting and a crochet button embellishment from my stash.

I took a break from decorating to make a card that was filled with some decorations :)

I used some Spellbinders ornament dies to create these, and decorated them using the following stamps:

It needed a bit of embellishment, so I stamped and fussy cut the flower from the
Poinsettia Vine Corner stamp, and added some punched greens, and gems to the centers.  The Small Happy Holidays Greeting was added using my square punches, to contrast the round ornaments.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...Thanks for visiting today!

Thanksgiving Cards

Hi Everyone,

With it being Thanksgiving week, I have two cards that are holiday related, but on the simpler side.  If you're in a time crunch, these are for you ;)

An embossing folder, circle punches, and a die are what I used to highlight the darling little leaf image from the 4 in 1 Harvest Designs stamp from DRS Designs.

I colored up the leaves and used a 1 3/4"circle punch to cut them out.  After embossing my background, I used the 1 1/4" punch to create the openings and glued the leaves behind them.  I then used the same size punches to create the little frames for each one, and added a simple die cut greeting to finish the card.

For my second card, I stamped, colored and die cut the Pumpkin Thanksgiving Wishes greeting. I wasn't in the mood to do any lengthy coloring project, so I grabbed some washi tape and masked off a few strips on my background cardstock.  I then used some orange and yellow ink, and sponged the exposed areas.  After removing the tape, I stamped the Pumpkin Pile in brown ink and added a strip of glitter.

I finished it off by adding the sentiment using some dimensional tape and a row of matching gems.

Here's wishing you a happy holiday this week...I sure am grateful you took the time to visit the blog today!

Pumpkin Piles

Hi Everyone,

I really like the new Pumpkin Pile stamp that was recently released at DRS Designs, it's definitely been the stamp I've used the most this fall season!  I love the different sizes in the grouping and they work as part of a scene or as a stand alone stamp too.

Here I began by stamping the pumpkins, masking them off and adding the Hanging Sign Post next.  I kept the mask in place, and then stamped using the Winter Trees stamp, making sure I stamped below the sign.

All that was left to do was color up the scene using my Copic markers, and add the
Small Autumn Greetings sentiment to the sign.

For this card, I stamped the card base using the Woven Plaid in green and orange ink.  .  It's probably my favorite background stamp for the cooler months, because it's so versatile and easy to use!

For a change, I stamped the Pumpkin Pile on Kraft using Versamark and heat embossed them using white embossing powder, coloring them in after.

I added a strip of orange glitter to the top, matted the image attaching it to the stamped base with dimensional foam tape.  I stamped and used my circle punches for the Thanks be to God Greeting and attached that with the same tape, finishing it off with a few gems.

Can you believe that Thanksgiving is next week???! I'm so not ready...Well, my spirit is, but my house and pantry are not!

Have a great week!

Pumpkin Cards

Hi Everyone,

I've been trying to get back into the swing of things, but as luck would have it, the cold bug followed us home from vacation.  We're hoping things are on the up swing this new week, and thankfully it didn't stop me from stamping!

I love this gorgeous new Give Thanks Pumpkin Stack stamp, from DRS Designs.  It's an image and greeting all in one and it was a dream to color up.  After die cutting it and adding a mat, I set it aside to work on my backgrounds.  The base paper was made using the following stamps:

Splatter Background (orange ink)

Lastly, I used the Woven Plaid to make my middle piece of patterned paper, stamping it using the same colors of ink.  I added a punched border and a gauzy green ribbon to finish it off.

Is there anything better than coffee and pie? Not much if you ask me, so I was thrilled to be inking up the new Pie and Coffee stamp. After coloring and die cutting it, I stamped and die cut the
Pumpkin Spice Everything Nice greeting and tried to work out the placement of them on my card.

I chose a brown background paper because it matched the color of the crust and then added a piece of orange and green to match the pie and dishes.  Then I dry embossed the whole thing with a leaf embossing folder (Darice)

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

The Unexpected

Hi Everyone,

Remember when buttons on cards were all the rage?  I acquired them in almost every color, but as that trend past, as trends tend to do, they are now gathering dust in my collection of craft supplies.  Until I was looking to make one more Halloween card, that had to be quick and easy.

I was going for clean and simple, stamping the Empty Spider Web on the corner of my orange background paper.  I added a strip of white paper to the bottom that was stamped with the
Expect the Unexpected Greeting, and I was going to add a few die cut spiders to the web.  The only problem was, nothing about that was unexpected.  So out came my black button collection and glue.

Button spiders seemed cute and more in line with the greeting too.  The only thing left to do was draw on some legs, and add a bit of gingham ribbon.

Halloween is almost here...Wishing you few tricks and many treats!

Have a great day!
