Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

New Header

Hi Everyone and Happy Friday!

Today is my day to feel like Steve Jobs. I finally figured out how to make a header with my name in it! I know it's not a big deal for most, but it is for me. My blog is no longer completely devoid of personality, yet still has a clean look. Me, mega pleased.

It's been a busy week, and the weekend is shaping up to be the same, so no card today. I will however, tell you go go to the Scrolls Work blog here, and you could win free stamps! All you have to do is answer a question; so easy. There is also a sketch challenge for those of you that have Scrolls Work stamps going on here.

Join in the stamping fun and have a great weekend!

Thank You Challenge

Hi Friends,

It's time for another challenge today. The theme this week at the I Love Digi Challenge Blog is a "Thank You card." What could be simpler than that?

Our sponsor this week is Toucan Scraps and the prize is a package of digital papers and images that you print right at your own computer. The design team is showcasing the product in their samples this week, so why not play along for a chance to win your own pack. I used the peach paper for the background and dry embossed it. I also used it to make the flowers, as well as her dress and socks, which are paper pieced.

The image is from the set Joy Stamps from Clip Art and Scrap at My Grafico.

Here are the design team blogs for some hopping fun!

Punch Out Crime!

Hello my fellow crafters,

I'm bringing you another challenge today from the My Grafico Challenge blog. Can you guess what it is from the title of my post? It's "Use Your Punches!"

The design team is featuring the set Superhero Stamps from Zenwaredesigns and that is the prize you could win, if you play along and use a My Grafico image! I pulled out my long neglected star punch and also used a punch for the sentiment. I don't remember what I intended to use this patterned paper for, but I worked out well for this darling little guy :) The ribbon was a left over from some July 4th party favors. Ahh, recycling!

Click here to see the rest of the design team creations and link up your own! Hope your day is ...wait for it..."Outta this world!" Ha!

Happy Mother's and Father's Day

Hi Everyone!

How is everyone today? I'm fine, but feeling behind on what I need to get done regarding some home improvement projects...That always seems to be the case for me. So, what do I do to make myself feel better and continue the avoidance? What every good paper crafter does, STAMP! LOL!

I was playing around with my stamps from Scrolls Work and here are a couple of CAS cards. (Clean & Simple)

This first card uses a the Kit 2 Large Round (#2538) stamp that I used as a background stamp on this card, only this time it's the focal image. I used a solid square stamp from my current inventory (you can also get the same effect by using a small ink pad, and stamping directly onto the card with it) for the background grid, and then stamped on top with the medallion and added a brad to the center. The sentiment is from Holidays (#1602) and I finished it off with a piece of twill ribbon.
This card fits the following challenges:
The Crazy Challenge-Buttons, brads and or eyelets

The second card uses the current sketch from Clean and Simple Stamping. I used the Asian Star stamp (#6336) and stamped it 3 times. I cut out two of the images, covered them in embossing powder and layered them on top of each other, turning them slightly to get the dimentional layered effect. The sentiment is also from Holidays (#1602).

Here is my close up.
This card also fits the following challenges:
Rosie D's - Red & White
Kaboodle Doodle-Embossing
Thanks for visiting today! Make sure you check out the Scrolls Work Blog for contests and prizes!

Feelin' Girly

Hi and Happy Monday!

The Lindsay's Stamp Stuff design team is back with our regular posts after a great blog hop a couple of weeks ago, and this week our theme is "Feelin' Girly."

While my card isn't over the top flowers and pinks, I did make it for my cousin who is an avid crafter herself. She is awesome at knitting and origami (You can read my post about her here), so I thought this image from the new set Crafty Tools and Puns would be the perfect thing.

I cut out some extra balls of yarn and put them on pop dots. I think she will love it!

Thanks for visiting me and see what Lindsay and the rest of the team made for their "Girly" post today!

Special Dad

Happy Weekend everyone!

So, I made this card last weekend, with the intention of saving it to show off closer to Father's Day (it's in June here in the U.S.), but the ladies at The Sisterhood posted a Scotland challenge. What can I say? You will just have to remember this idea for a couple of months from now. I did.

This is by no means my idea, I saw this probably two or more years ago somewhere on Splitcoast (thanks whoever you are!) and have been wanting to replicate it since that first moment. My Dad's only hobby is golf, so this was a perfect idea for him. It just took me that long to find stickers that I could use for the shoes. LOL! My fabby friend Laura (You can read about her in my post here) used to sell Creative Memories and had these stickers she no longer wanted. Hurray! I could finally make my card.

The pale blue background has clouds stamped on it, (I don't think they show up in the photo) the pants were cut from plaid paper, but everything else is stickers.

Then I come across the Scotland challenge about incorporating plaid, and golf is also associated with Scotland (St. Andrews, etc...), so I was all excited to post this today. I love it when stuff works out and when ya weren't even trying.

Thanks for the visit and hope there is something exciting about your day today!

Happy Earth Day

Good Morning!

I really wanted to make something special for Earth Day...but I ran out of time :) So, instead I'm posting a card that I made for my stash of birthday cards. It has cheerful spring flowers and fits a few challenges, so it's all good, right? You've seen this paper in previous posts, but I love the cheerful colors just as much as ever. This cute set of stamps from PTI is really a favorite of mine, because you really can't make a bad card with the button paring images it contains.

I do, however, feel bad not posting something more extraordinary for the gals over at A Passion for Papertrey. It has been forever since I played along in one of their challenges, and well, let's face it, their stuff is always extraordinary.

Well, that's it for me. Happy Earth Day and if you are a sports fan/basketball fan, I have to say it, "GO CAVS!"

These are the rest of the challenges this card is linked to:

Magical Crafts-For the Girls
Penny's Paper Challenge-Anything Goes

Just for Fun

Hi Everyone!

Don't you love to make cards just for fun? That's what I did here, being inspired by this sketch
Challenge at EBTKS! This is a mini card, only 3" x 3" inches big. What is it about mini stuff that is so appealing? I think the small size just ups the cuteness factor exponentially! I used a combination of stamps and punches to make this little cutie pie of a card. Lookie...

I love the bright bold colors. Big contented sigh.

This card also fits the following challenges:
Fab N Funky-No longer neglected
K L Stampin and Scrappin-Bling

Thanks for the visit...Have a great day full of peace and love!

P.S. In case anyone missed it, Sandy was the winner from the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff blog hop last week. Congrats on winning the digital stamp set, Winged Things!

Birthday Cards

Edit: Linked to Practical Scrappers for their Floss, Fibers and Ribbon challenge.

Hey!

Last week the Design Teams for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff had a blast celebrating the first Anniversary/Birthday of her shop at My Grafico. We had 3 days of blog hopping and virtual cropping, as well as prizes, freebies and challenges.

These birthday cards were all made with freebie images from the crop...I love that the party hat had text on it. I matched it to a traditional stamp with the same type of text and finished it off with a real pom pom! I pulled out a long neglected embossing folder for this one...

I added stickles to the candles and a small dot of glossy effects to the cherry.

Here I used my word window punch and again added glossy effects to the eye patch.

If you were here for the hop last Monday, you know that this digi set named Winged Things was up for grabs for one lucky commenter. And the winner is...Sandy! Congrats...contact me at karinwithani@att.net and I will make sure you get this set from Lindsay's Stamp Stuff!

Thanks so much for flying by today...The Lindsay's Stamp Stuff team will be back next Monday with our regular posts. See ya soon :)

Neat and Tidy

Hi and Happy Weekend!

In an attempt to spring clean and de-clutter my life, I have decided to remove much of the "stuff" on my blog. So for the moment it is a minimalist look :) I just needed change and I'm really not in the mood to "add" anything. Right now it makes me breathe easier...Neat and tidy!

Just a quick reminder, there is still time to enter the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff blog candy from the hop last week, click here for that post. I will be announcing the winner on Monday.

Until then, here is a picture of me and my nieces on Easter...That's Jennifer on the left, and Julianne on the right.
Was I ever that young?

Happy Mother's Day

Hi Everyone!

Wow, this week flew by for me! There always seems like so much to do once spring comes around.

I went to my first Indians game the other night too...Go Tribe! Yeah, they lost. Oh well, I did get hugged by "Slider" (the mascot) and danced for the camera man who put it on the Jumbo-tron...Woo-Hoo! I seriously hope no one I know was there to see it :)

'Nuff, about that...

Today I have another card that I made using my stamps from Scrolls Work. I believe the next major holiday coming up is Mother's Day, so I thought I would get a head start on ideas for you.

I used vintage looking papers and this sweet flower bouquet called Floral Color Spot #4506, that I colored to match. The whole card just reminds me of an antique sitting room in a Victorian mansion.

I added antique ink to a layered flower embellishment to set off the sentiment which actually comes in a group of holiday sentiments (#1602).

Well, I hope you are planning on making your Mom's day a special one...And if your mom is no longer with you, let me inspire you to reach out to someone else on that day. Someone who is important to you...Remind them that they are!

Happy 1st Anniversary/Birthday Blog Hop

Hello!

Welcome to the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Birthday Blog hop! Wasn't Tamara Bennett's project fabulous? If you didn't come to my blog via Tamara, be sure to visit Lindsay's blog to start at the beginning, and if you get lost along the way, go there to find your way again!

I have lots to show you, so let's get started. Do you like freebies? I know I do, and that's how I got the Funky Wood grain paper I used on my first project. Lindsay is always giving away things free to her customers and blog readers. You can get some freebies too, just stop and join in the virtual crop in the Crop Room at My Grafico. There is a free give away each day to those who come to the Crop Room. It will only be available there that day, then they will go on sale in the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff store.

This is a blank set of note cards I made using a square punch and a corner rounder. I got the idea from a recent issue of Papercrafts magazine.

This next item is a bookmark I made for myself using the Creepy Crow set. It's a Halloween set, but I have found many uses outside of the holiday for it.

I love the swirled accent this bird image has. Interested in the Creepy Crow set? Well, now would be the time to purchase it. Everything in Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Shop is 50% off!

Finally, how would you like to win some stamps?

I'm giving away this set named Winged Things as blog candy to someone who leaves me a comment on my blog. In fact, leave each team member a comment along the way, and you will be entered to win the set they are giving away each day! For a second chance to win, grab the "I'm A Fan" button and add it to your blog. Then come back and leave me a comment that you completed that task...Simple!

My card uses the butterfly image and the swirled image from the Winged Things set. I love that swirled image matched the embossed background of the card.

I also did some embossing with clear powder and added a couple of rhinestones to my layered butterfly.

Remember, leave me a comment for a chance to win. Grab the button for your blog, and leave me another comment for a second entry for the set. Everything in the Lindsay's Stamp Stuff shop is 50% off and there are freebies available in the Crop Room!

Now, next on the hop is Rebekah!

Earth Day

Hi all!

I have been doing extra showcasing for designers at My Grafico. I was given some images by Alisha McConnell and I made an Earth Day card. This coincides with my Internet friends challenge at The Sisterhood, so I thought I would support them as well. Their challenge was to use a recycled item.
The image is from the set Lil Red, and the recycled piece is the twine...
here is a close up of my tree hugger sentiment :)

Happy Earth Day! (It's sometime later this month!)

Old Bird

Happy Friday!

Boy, do I love Friday. Such a great feeling to have those two days looming ahead, filled with possibilities. That, what I call, "Friday Feeling" was something that I missed when I worked in retail. Managing a store, Friday-Sunday were some of the busiest days, and I rarely had them off. Not that Saturday is the super lazy day it was in my college years, but still a day with less routine :)

Today's card is one of those "dreaded" guy cards...however, pulling out some new stamps from Scrolls Work made making a guy card child's play! It came together quickly and easily and I love the outcome.

I decided to keep it neutral and I used the Kit 2 Lg. Round #2538 medallion stamp for the background which gives the card a slight vintage feel. The main image is Large Birdie stamp #5531, and after I stamped him, I colored him in softly with chalks. The chalk is also what gives that soft shading around the Nestie cut-out. The fun, quirky sentiment (Old Bird #1037) will make this a great birthday card for someone with a good sense of humor!
Along with the string that I added to give the card some texture, I used a punch I would normally use for sentiments, in a more creative way. As a base for three brads, it becomes a cool design element on the card. Always happy when I manage to think outside the box!

Well, that's it for me... Here are the challenges this card is linked to...Until next time, Happy Friday to you!

Oui!

Hi Everyone,

I have been itching to get these stamps from Scrolls Work inked up, but with all the Easter clean up and yard work, they have been sitting in my crafting area calling my name.

My niece is a huge fan of anything French. When she was just a child, she went as a little french girl for Halloween. She had a beret and a scarf and really looked, Oh so French! She is now in high school, taking French and has visited France with her family and been on the Eiffel Tower. So, this card is inspired by her!

I decided on white and black color combo, with pink as an accent color. This I felt would keep the card nice and girlie. The Eiffel Tower stamp #2001 is the main image. After stamping it, I sprayed the entire main image piece with adhesive and sprinkled it with stamping glitter. I then chose the Sheet Music stamp #7104 for the background of this card.

Here is a close up...but the sparkle was hard to capture in a photo. A ribbon and three half pearls completed the project.

Scrolls Work has a huge catalog of stamps beyond these, and I invite you to check them out. There are cards featured by the design team members on the Scrolls Work Blog as well...Get inspired!

I now want to take a moment to thank sweet Leanne for passing on this Award to me. So thoughtful of her to think of me and I really appreciate her kindness:)

So, to accept this award, I must name 10 things that make me happy and list 5 pieces of trivia about myself. Here goes....

10 Things that make me happy

1. Coffee

2. Chocolate

3. Sunny days

4. Being on vacation

5. A good book

6. Stamps

7. A great romantic comedy

8. My Hubby

9. A great nights sleep

10. Listening to the Cleveland Orchestra play at Blossom Music Center on a warm summer night! How I wish I was there right now :)

5 Pieces of Trivia

Frankly, my whole life is pretty trivial, so I will just refer you to an older post with 7 pieces of trivia, since nothing much has changed since then :) Click Here.

As far as passing this on, I would like to give this to all the members of the Design Teams I am on. They are all much more creative than I, and I'm inspired by their work and blogs on a daily basis. So, please grab this award ladies and gents and pass it on!

Thanks for the visit and have a great rest of the day!

Here is the sketch...
And my card using the cute little trio of flowers image...Don't you just love their little faces? So cute! I used the last of this colorful paper and added 3 punched flowers and rhinestones for the embellishment.

Inspired by Song

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter celebration yesterday. We had a great time with lots of food and family:) Always too much food...LOL!

The Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Design Team theme this week is, "Inspired by Song."

The weather around here has really been very nice, and my Dad and I have been able to take our walks together outside. It sure feels like spring when you hear all the birdies making their own sweet music in the morning.

So , with that thought in mind, I decided to make a card using one of the cute birdies from Lindsay's Pretty Primative set. I had some more of my Cosmo Cricket birdie paper, so I decided to use the current 3-2-1 Recipe challenge at I Love Digi for my layout on this card. ( 3 papers, 2, brads, 1 embellishment.)
In case you were wondering where my 3rd paper was, it is the last layer of my embellishment!

Thanks for thinking of me and stopping by to visit! Check out Lindsay and the rest of the team below!
