Oh Holy Night

Hi Everyone!

I'm here today with another card that uses an image from I Brake for Digis.  I have really been into Christmas cards that have an non traditional color scheme this year.  There is something about not using red and green that makes them stand out to me. 

This stamp is called Bethlehem and I colored it with Copics and added some Stickles to the star.  I played off the little stars in the image, which were only black dots, and I poked holes around my edges of my background paper.  My husband said that doing it gave it a middle eastern flair.  I don't know if that is true,  but I like it :)

The sentiment was a dollar stamp from a sale bin, but it had little black stars on it, so I paired it with this for that reason too. For me, making this card was a nice reminder that there is more to the season we are in than just being overwhelmed with a to do list and lots of shopping ;)

Pink Ice Skates

Hi Everyone!

I decided to that these ice skates looked girlie to me with that skate lace tied into a bow.  If I was still a young girl, I would have loved to have pink ice skates!  I embossed the background, sanded it to bring out the pattern and added some velvet ric rack along with a MS punched border.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the DRS Designs new releases.

A Little Encouragement

Here is my little piece of encouragement to get you to enter the Amber Inkredible 21 Day Challenge this month.

The challenge is to make a wrap, bag, box...whatever!  Good one for this time of year when you are wrapping and bagging anyway, right?

There is an awesome prize for the winner.  Trust me, I won last month.  If I can, anyone can. But, you can't win if you don't enter ;)

I used a piece of iPaper called Spin Pin to decorate my little pencil box.  I chose to make it to fit four pencils, because those were the ones that matched the paper...

I also decided to make a cover for my little day planner that I use to jot down quick notes and ideas.  I know most people are keeping a digital calender of some sort now days, but I always like a paper back up too.

I love the colors on these little items, so I'm making duplicates as part of a stocking stuffer gift...Those little planners are only a buck at the dollar store!

Treat Boxes

Hi Everyone!

The theme this week for the DT for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff  is quick and easy treats and I have super easy ones to show off.  Trust me when I say they aren't complicated, because I need about 75 of them ;)  Another bit of good news, the entire My Grafico site is 40% off today, so you can get a deal on anything in

I purchased these clear boxes from Walmart on clearance.  They were 50 for $10.00 and I was able to nestle 8 Hershey Nugget chocolates perfectly inside.

This was the first one that I made.

The round label came from this set Vintage Christmas Labels. I sized it in Word to fit my punch, and set it to print out in red.

Then I realized that the boxes came with silver pre-cut ribbon, so I decided to go with a blue color scheme instead. 

Did you know that the white address labels fit the nuggets exactly?

My card today uses another digi stamp from I Brake For Digi's.  I had this paper scrap on my desk from a past project, so I went with a square card using a favorite layout of mine, which is also easy to mass produce. 

This Holly Berry image was fun to color and matched exactly to the paper.  I added some red Stickles on the berries for bling and made the sentiment myself in Word. I hope my recipient will like it as much as I do!

Amber Ink Holiday Hop

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm thrilled to participate in a blog hop for the Amber Ink Torch Bearers past and present.  Who are the TB's? (Wow, that sounds like a disease instead of the honor that it is...lol!)  They are the creatively named Design Team members for Amber Ink, and since I was the inaugural purple Torch Bearer, I'm privileged to be able to participate.  Amber Ink is a craft mafia of the best sort...family for life!

Now our theme for the hop is a 7 course dinner for 2.  We can only use 2 colors on our card (not counting neutrals) and 7 other things...

Here is the invite I made for my Holiday Shindig this year.  I used the super fab Hostess with the Mostess set.

My 2 colors are blue and brown.

My 7 things are:

1 piece of patterned paper, 1 ribbon, 1 snowflake embelli, 3 different foods, and 1 sentiment. 

 You don't always have to color everything when it comes to an outline stamp...A little color in the right spot can be the wow factor.  Especially when making multiple invites ;)

A Shooting Star

Hi Everyone!

How was your weekend? Are you all decorated for the holidays? I have to say I'm good in that area.  I was overwhelmed a one point, then I decided to only put up 2 trees instead of 3.  When my mom passed away 5 years ago, I brought all the ornaments from their tree to my house (My dad just has a small, pre-decorated one now.) and I started having another tree.  Then it hit me.  Why do I HAVE to have 3? Like that is some kind of norm.

So, I fit all of their decorations on the tree with ours and then I have a themed white & gold tree in my decoration living room. Which no one sits in except Christmas and Easter...lol. I'm very happy that I'm back to only 2.

Now, on to my card that has nothing to do with trees!

This uses one of the new releases from DRS Designs.  Last week on my card here, I used this Shooting Star stamp, but only the flourishes for the background. I loved how that looked, but I also felt that this cute star needed to be the center of attention. Hence, this card.

I used the Starry Background stamp to create that paper behind,  and the other piece was embossed with swirls to match the tail of the star. The sentiment is named A Special Wish Star Filled Greeting.

Here is a close up.  I stamped it on the main piece and then again on a piece of yellow paper.  I cut it out, covered it in glitter and popped it up so that it was off set.

Music Saves My Soul & Winning Developments

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday my friend Cheryl emailed me to let me know that Music Saves My Soul Saturday on Marcea's Blog is back.  Yay!  Since I'm thrilled to have it back, I'm posting 2 songs.

This first one is in honor of the Christmas holiday and since it's a Flash Mob thing, I can feel all trendy posting it. My friend Kim, (real life friend with no blog, hence no link to her ;) had it on her Facebook page, so I'm sure most folks have seen it.  It's still cool though.  I wish I could witness one in person.

This next one is in honor of my friends, both real life and blog land too.  It's a Morrisey song, Hold On to Your Friends.  Sorry their really is no video, I chose sound quality over grainy concert footage.  Anyway, love ya friends!

I Brake For Digi

To celebrate my first post, I thought I would make a festive looking card, using this cute Bunch of Balloons stamp.  It is the perfect card for my stash of birthday cards; those always seem to be the first to go, but it can be used for any occasion!

 I love the bold outlines of the stamps, it makes them so easy to color.  I used Copics for this image and added highlights with my blender pen.

Holiday Hello

Hi Everyone!

The theme this week for the design team for Lindsay's Stamp Stuff is quick and easy cards.  I have to say, this is right up my alley this time of year.  No matter how hard I try, I never can be on top of things the way I want to be. 

I decided to stick with this set named Winterland, since I used it before and still have scraps of paper on my craft table.

I used a piece of the argyle paper layered on a punched border. I wrapped it with a gauzy bow and added some embossed squares and a stamped sentiment.   

A snowflake gem finished it off.  Super simple.  This entire set contains cute clip art and paper that makes for easy projects in a hurry.

This is a second card that I whipped up using one of the images, the same paper and some lace.

You will definitely want some more easy peasy holiday card ideas, so pop by the blogs of Lindsay and the rest of the team.  You will be encouraged along the way, knowing that it is possible to be crafty even when feeling the time crunch :)

DRS Designs Holiday Blog Slide

My card today features the new Shooting Star and Three Wise Men Peace Stamps. I stamped the stars four times on my background with the tails shooting outward, so only they would show.  I wanted to create a unique background using those cool flourishes.

The center image of the Three Kings was stamped in black and embossed with rainbow embossing powder for a bit of shine. 

The sand was colored in using a Copic Marker. It would be so easy to mass produce and the bling adds a bit of a wow factor for the recipient.
