Welcome!

My name, Karin, was pretty common when I was growing up...just not the spelling. Unless you are of German heritage like I am. So, I have spent my entire life answering the question, "What is your name"?... With, "Karin...with an "i"! Who knew it would come in handy all these years later when I went to name my blog.

Floral Friendship

Hi Cyber and Real Life friends,

So, a couple of quick personal stories. I mentioned we went to my cousin's on last Sunday for a get together. Well, while we were there we had one of the most expensive cups of coffee in the world. Seriously. Jay, (my cousin) travels for business, and spent a lot of time in Asia. This was given to him as a gift and he made it for us. It is approx. $500.00 a pound and people pay up to $50.00 a cup for it! If you think that's amazing, read about what makes it so special here. (If you saw the movie, The Bucket List, you may already know about it. I heard someone say this was one of the things on the list.) Yes, I drank it and it was kinda good. Ha! It definitely tops Sushi, Ethiopian food, Escargot, etc., all he "normal" stuff we think of as exotic. I'm still laughing about it almost a week later!

The second thing that happened to me it this. For those of you that don't know, ever since my mom passed away, I have been doing my daily walk with my dad. We walk about an hour, approx 3.5-4 miles every morning. He shows up at my house at 6:45am (there must be some special prize in heaven for this :)) everyday. Except in the winter, which is when I meet him (at that same unholy hour) at the rec center. Well, going to the rec you make "friends" with people who you say hello to and make small talk with. Since the weather has been nice, we have moved the walks outside. (Thank goodness, the whole walking in a circle on the track makes me crazy after a while...) Anyway, at the grocery store this week, I hear a small voice, "Karin?" I turn around and sure enough, it's a couple from the rec. "Hey, it's so nice to see you," I say. " We don't see anyone now that we walk outside."

"Well," says Bruce, "We hardly recognized you! You're all dressed up. You look so nice!" He seemed genuinely shocked.

Mind you, I'm wearing jeans and a jean jacket. Hardly haute couture.

"Well," I say, "This is what I look like in my everyday life. You see me in my rec center life, where I'm lucky to have washed my face and brushed my teeth."

"You sure clean up good," he says!

This is not the first time I've heard this type of phrasing about my appearance. It's the same thing from the neighbors when I run into them out somewhere. They are used to seeing me in yard work clothes, so it's the same type of thing.

So, should I get up earlier and fix my face before I work out or do manual labor? I'm starting to think me with out make up is not a good thing! LOL!

Well, on to the crafty business. My card today was made using stamps from Scrolls Work. I used the sentiment Distant Friend #1639, the music notes called Sheet Music #7401 and Small Skeleton Leaf #4532.

The flowers were made using left over crepe paper and a flower die. After securing them with a brad, I ran them across an ink pad to give them some color. Super pretty!

I love the whole shabby chic look of this card, and these stamps were the perfect things to bring this to life.

Thanks for you visit, and if you read my personal stories, thanks even more! Hope your weekend is filled with all kinds of happy!

So sweet that you and your dad have that morning walk time together...you are giving him something very special that you may not realize. He is starting each day not lonely...my mom & MIL live with us and it's the companionship that our parents need for after losing a spouse. YOu both are blessed to have each other!

FABULOUS!....I love these flowers! Wow!

I run into people from Jazzercise at the store and I always look at them because they look familiar but I just can't place them. Usually after we walk away I realize who they are. I think we all have the same problem when we see people "out of context."

Have a wonderful week end!
